About this cottage rental
Located on the Big Island of Hawaii, this detached studio guest house is fully furnished, very private, with vaulted ceilings on a beautifully landscaped 3 acre privately enclosed property. Property has a gated entrance with private gate code, grounds security system, over 40 fruit trees and 2 Koi fish ponds. Studio sleeps up to 5 (one queen-size bed, one full-size futon sofa bed, and a single blow-up mattress), has 1 bathroom with shower and kitchen with refrigerator, convection oven, 2 stovetop burners, coffee maker, blender, and all necessary kitchen cooking/eating utensils. Rental also includes a dual washer/dryer unit, clothes drying rack, armoire for hanging clothes, outdoor BBQ, outdoor patio seating and eating table for 4, fiber optic high-speed internet, smart TV, yoga mat, umbrellas and other essentials. Outdoor storage shed has 4 beach chairs, 3 beach umbrella, coolers, boogie board, 4 adult snorkel sets/2 child snorkel sets, volleyball, and beach toys that can be used by guests of the rental. Studio has a private entrance, parking spot for 2 vehicles, and 180 degree views of the 3 acre property and Koi fish pond from the patio. Pond area has 4 chairs, bistro table for 2 with umbrella, and 2 lounge chairs with umbrella for guests to use. This guest house is conveniently located 15 minutes south of Hilo and 10 minutes between the small towns of Keaau and Pahoa. There is also a grocery store and farmer’s market within 5 minutes of the rental. This is the perfect central location for all activities on the east side of the Big Island of Hawaii, including sites such as Volcanoes National Patk, magnificent waterfalls, downtown Hilo, and the famous black sand and green sand beaches.

This guest house really has it all! If you love the property description and the listing photos, you will love it even more when you get to see it in person. From the tasteful home decor to the comprehensive guide book, from the fresh flowers on the tables to the Koi fish in the pond, from the little welcome Hawaiian snacks to the ukulele…This home is filled with love and care. Truly feels like our own home on the Big Island. I can’t possibly list all the things we enjoyed about this place. It’s beautiful and peaceful. Spacious and squeaky clean. Well stocked with everything we could think of AND MORE! Only wish we could spend longer here and fully appreciate everything this amazing place had to offer! If we ever visit this area again, we’ll definitely stay at Jennifer and Jeff’s guest house again! Highly recommended.

What a lovely stay we had . The property is beautiful. It clearly shows that our hosts take time to keep the grounds so well maintained. Inside the house was spotless !
The layout was just right for us. It had everything we needed along with so many other little details that made our stay more pleasant. The swinging patio chairs, the sound of the trickling water feature ,,and well stocked kitchen and bathroom !

A beautiful little guest house fully stocked, & nicely decorated, surrounded by lush green landscaping with a little koi pond. The guest house is right next to the main house, so the owners are nearby. Not so private in that way, but they are friendly & helpful.
Location is a 15-20 minute drive to town. So be prepared to drive to get food & see the sights. If you are leaving from Kona airport give yourself at least 90 minutes travel time & 45-60 mins to clean up the guest house before you go.
Also you have to not mind bugs because the guest house is surrounded by grassy land & lots of plants so the critters get inside the house.
We only stayed two nights, but there’s a lot to see on the Hilo side of the island so we’ll have to visit again to see more of the beautiful sites!

First and foremost, the grounds are stunning! Jennifer (host) put a lot of thought and intention in the landscaping and it shows. Wow. It was nice to just wander the property.
The hosts greeted us upon our arrival and checked in on us every day with lots of useful information.
The rental studio itself feels brand new. Everything in it was like new, from the towels to the dishes, even some of the furniture. It was also spotlessly clean. Even though we weren't the first people to stay here, it felt like it!
There were books, games, a ukelele, and other items to entertain us while we were at the rental. But best of all was just sitting outside and enjoying the view of the grounds.
The location is a little bit of a drive from both Hilo and VNP. But realistically, anywhere you stay on the Big Island, you're going to have to drive. Everything is far from everything else. So we don't count it as a minus unless you're doing multiple days at VNP or doing many activities in Hilo itself.
But for a visit to the south/east side of BI, this was a perfect location and perfect studio! Thank you Jennifer and Jeff.

This property and guest house was the perfect retreat for our trip while exploring the Hilo side of the island. Everything exceeded our expectations. The house was immaculate and spacious. Jeff and Jennifer were very kind and accommodating hosts. They made sure the guest house was fully stocked with kitchen supplies, sunscreen, beach chairs and coolers, and laundry detergent. We wish we could've stayed longer!

This property fully deserves its near-perfect reviews. Plenty of space for our family of four, utilizing the pull-out futon and air mattress. Our kids loved the koi pond, finding giant frogs and snails around the lawn, and waking up to a rooster crowing. No air conditioning, but ceiling fans and open windows kept the unit cool enough even in June. Idyllic location, relatively short drive to Volcanoes NP or anything else on Hilo side. Very well stocked including full cabinet of beach gear. Friendly and helpful hosts. We hope to visit again someday.

We stay 2 nights at Jennifer’s guest house with family of 4. It was such beautiful guest unit by the main house with very comfortable beds and plenty of room to spend quality time with love ones. Plus they gorgeous share their huge backyard with guests to enjoy and stargazing (if weather permits) . We had a lovely time and hosts are wonderful and very responsive. We chose to stay at Jennifer & Jeff’s property while on the Big Island, after coming from Oahu. It was the perfect, serene , quiet, vast location we needed. The home itself was the perfect size for our family (2 adults, 2 children). They had everything we needed to relax, do laundry, cook and explore. It was probably the best and most thought out VRBO I have stayed at. We loved it and would return in a heartbeat. Jennifer & Jeff were so kind and welcoming, but also left us to do our own thing. The kids LOVED staying here. We also felt like we were in an amazing location to get to all of our destinations on the east side of the island.

Jeff and Jennifer’s place was so wonderful! The pictures don’t do it justice. The landscape is breathtaking, the accommodations were perfect, clean and very comfortable. We left our windows open all night and listened to the frogs and birds all around us. We took day trips out to Hilo, and Volcanoes National Park. We also went down to the end of the road one morning and caught the sunrise. Perfect beginning to our trip! Thank you Jeff and Jennifer. We highly recommend this property.

We were extremely comfortable here for a week. The garden is lovely to look out on. It was a great jumping off point to visit anything on the Hilo side, and especially for Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Jeff & Jennifer were very responsive to all of our questions and had a great guide book ready for us as well that was up to date and so useful. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook simple meals for ourselves (which we mostly did), including some basic condiments, flour, sugar, and a few spices. It was also convenient (20-30 minute drive) to a string of local beaches where the snorkeling was as good or better than anywhere else we went on our vacation. Of course, they had snorkels, boogie boards, and chairs at the ready for us to borrow. We really wanted for nothing during the week. If I were heading to that side of the island again, I would definitely rebook.

A great first trip to the Big Island! We strategically stayed on the Hilo side for closer proximity to Volcanoes National park and Punalu'u Black sand beach. We were also able to get an early start and made a day trip to Muana Kea summit as well as the Kona side. This guest house, thanks to Jeff and Jennifer's attention to detail, has ABSOLUTELY everything you can think of for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Where to start. This place was amazing from the second we pulled up to the second we left. We started our trip on the Hilo side and we were greeted by the owners. Very kind people. We followed the tiki lined path to our perfect little guest house.
When we woke up the next day we couldn’t believe how stunning the property is, pictures just don’t do it justice. The coqui frogs sing you to sleep every night and the koi fish pond is so relaxing to sit by.
They have every thing you hate buying on vacations. Coffee, tea, sugar, spices, ziploc bags, beach chairs, coolers, snorkeling stuff, umbrellas, beach towels. Everything.
Jeff and Jennifer are so kind and you can feel the pride and love that they have in their property. They pay attention to the little details you don’t get when a company manages your rental. The windows are shaded out where you can see their home so it felt very private. One of the cleanest properties we’ve ever stayed at.

The moment when I entered the property, I felt right at home as if everything on the property was waiting for me. I sensed the love and care floating around the entire property. You expect an apartment and get a whole house! The location is approximately 30 minutes south of Hilo, the house is beautiful with wooden floors and really spacious! You will find everything you need! The hosts are very friendly and helpful! The surrounding garden is spectacular, as well as the koy pond! At night you will enjoy a concert of frogs and birds from the nearby forest, the whole garden is lit by electrical torches and you will even call a terrace your own! We enjoyed every minute at this location and would immediately book it again!

This was really one of the best vacation rental house experiences we have ever had. Jeff and Jennifer were so kind and accommodating, and the location is gorgeous. The house was extremely well stocked and we were happy to find a few snacks on our arrival as well. Would 100% recommend and will hopefully come back for another stay sometime.
