Large old home that is good for family gatherings.
Catherine Howard does a great job managing the

It is a tremendous, unique home with character, lots of space, clean, comfortable furnishings, and a gracious, responsive host. Quiet and peaceful area. Recommended.

In town for a family wedding in nearby Dudley MA. There for eight nights. Bedrooms were nice. Kitchen was OK bathrooms were good. The place is overwhelmed with collectibles so much that they interfere with staying there. The place could use a good deep cleaning and the outside is completely overgrown. The place could be a four star if totally cleaned up, inside and out and 50% of the collectibles removed and make the backyard overlooking the stream useable. Did not have Wi-Fi for first three days and cellular service in the area is poor. One of the back doors does not lock so the place could not be secured, Had to send a video to the manager to “prove” it but was never repaired.

We all enjoyed finding all of the antiques in the house

This property is not as advertised. I would believe that the reviews on this property are fake and friends of the owners. We arrived in the pitch black to an absolutely disgusting home. There were dirty dishes in the sink. The sink was gross. The refrigerator was worse. There were dirty dead flowers in vases filled with mold and a layer of dust/grime on everything. The upstairs master bedroom had white stains on the sheets. The purple room had blood on the comforter. There was no toilet paper in the bathrooms. The washer and dryer were stuffed full and overflowing with towels/sheets. There were nats bitting us while standing in the kitchen and my sons feet turned black from walking around. The stairs/ledges/steps were not as advertised and extremely dangerous. There were giant stuffed animals that were not only creepy but filthy. The owner never responded to me regarding my concerns and VRBO says its up to them to refund me. I have contacted an attorney and I highly advise to not book this house.

Upon arrival bathrooms had not been cleaned. There was leftover laundry in washer and dryer. Brown water when you tried to use one jet tub. The other did not work at all. Shower curtains were so dirty we went and bought new.Hand rail to upstairs falling off wall as well as loose railings all around stairs and decking area. Lawn furniture with moss growing on the seats. So much clutter! So dusty dirty! Moldy air conditioners. So much space in kitchen but all filled with so much you have no where to put your food! The driveway is blind and extremely hard to enter and leave as traffic speeds by. Beware if you have small ones. The hostess A shley is unresponsive and did not get back to me after many attempts to contact her. Dont spend your hard earned money on dirty and dangerous. Vrbo needs to make sure these properties are safe before promoting them on their website.

Booked as a spot to stay in between events in the surrounding area. The manager was quick to get in touch with, very polite/pleasant. The layout is perfect for a group. The open area/seating between kitchen/dining made conversation easy. Those who wanted to sleep late or relax were able to find rooms that accommodated while the rest of us didn’t have to tiptoe around. Plenty of hot water and bathrooms that we didn’t have to time showers either! Very cozy and comfortable. It was an absolute delight to explore the house and unique furnishings. I could’ve sat on the amazing sunroom/ entry porch forever. What a pretty view of the creek, and such a relaxing sound from the water. Everyone in the group agreed that this is a spot we would absolutely return to. Looking forward to a return!

The property manager/owner couldn't have been more helpful or responsive. We had many questions. There were a few hiccups along the way, and he addressed them as best he could. One of the water heaters was not working, so no hot water in kitchen or upstairs bathroom. Owner had just spent a lot of money putting in new water heaters, so apparently something had gone wrong. Owner was receptive to our small suggestions on how to improve the space and experience.
The space was beautiful and chock full of grandfather clocks, an old telephone, old dolls, Hummel spice jars, plates, and authentic looking hardware/fixtures. Owner had obviously gone to a lot of trouble and expense to renovate the space to make it as authentic as possible (the building had once been an old inn). The property originally had been listed on VRBO as "sleeps 12," but actually has one king bed, three queens, and a narrow futon-style mattress that a small person could sleep on, in one of the bedrooms that also had a queen.
We would stay there again, if we decide to visit northern Connecticut in the future.

This hostess canceled on us the night prior to our stay! Then, they REFUSED to refund me my money, stating I was the one who canceled!! Stated they weren't "going around" with me. It took me 2 months and 3 separate claims with VRBO to finally get my money back, and at that, it wasn't the full amount. Of course, I had to tell my 4 young children, who had everything packed and ready, that our vacation wasn't possible. This hostess is a SCAM and couldn't care less about their customer. VRBO support team wasn't much better!! AVOID!!

Eclectic old house with many nice upgrades. Family vacation with 7 adults and 2 children (from Florida and Ohio). There was plenty of room for all of us. House was very comfortable and had everything we needed. 2 queen and 1 king bed upstairs and 1 queen bed downstairs. Also a futon upstairs. Fully equipped kitchen. Beautiful view of the creek in the backyard. It’s a one of a kind house and we all decided that we will probably never stay in another house quite like this again. Enjoyed our stay.

House had many unique decorations and art that we enjoyed exploring during our stay. Kitchen had everything we needed to host a Sat dinner for the group.

We were in town for a wedding and spent two nights here, joined by other family members. The place is an old rambling former Inn and some of the original details are interesting.
It was clean inside, all the bedding and towels fresh. The kitchen has everything. There are four bedrooms, all comfortable, though some beds are smaller.
The Inn got extended at least twice over the years and the original section was probably built in the 1800's.
Woodstock is semi-rural and you cannot really walk anywhere from the house but it's a very short drive to a number of decent restaurants (Elizabeth's Farmhouse in Putnam is great), and there is a liquor store and gas nearby.
