About this cottage rental

“Kiltearn by the Lake” is a warm and spacious lakeside home on Buck Lake in South Frontenac, about 30 minutes north of Kingston, Ontario. Became active on VRBO in 2023. Situated on 11 forested acres with 400 feet of shoreline and its own private bay, KBTL offers the perfect family summer vacation: swimming, forest-bathing, messing around in small boats, spectacular sunsets on the deck, relaxing in the wood-fired sauna, and reading by the fireplaces and wood stove.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this well-equipped cottage. The beds were comfortable, and despite the cool and rainy weather during our first two-night stay, we found the living and dining areas to be cozy and inviting, especially with the wood-burning fireplace. The fishing and mushroom picking were fantastic. The stairs leading to the lake might be challenging for some guests. The only downside was the outdoor fire restriction, even after the rain, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely stay here again.

Our family enjoyed a wonderful two weeks at Kiltearn Cottage. The cottage is lovely with everything you need for a holiday. The kitchen in particular is very well supplied. There is a panoramic view over the lake from the deck where you can sit and relax. The opposite shore is a Frontenac Provincial Park so the lake is very quiet and peaceful. The small bay in front of the cottage has a sandy bottom and is shallow. My grandchildren spent many an hour playing in the water. We were also able to catch fish right off the small dock. The grounds are amazing, secluded and quiet. There are wonderful granite formations right next to it that are very interesting. The birds were also extraordinary with hummingbirds coming to the feeders. We also sighted a Red Tail Hawk and a Barred Owl. We were all entranced by the cottage, the lake, the forest and the hills. I highly recommend this cottage.
