About this cottage rental
The Gingerbread House is a cute cottage located in a tranquil area of Massanutten Resort, a four season resort with amenities for everyone. This home-away-from-home is situated close to the playground, indoor/outdoor water park, two golf course, mini-golf, family adventure park with zip lines, on-site restaurants, skiing, snowboarding, tubing and exciting escape room! With Harrisonburg and Shenandoah National Park only 15 minutes away, you have many additional dining and entertainment opportunities to enjoy, such as natural caverns, historic sites, hiking, wineries and breweries.
Inside our home, you will find four bedrooms and two and a half baths. The main floor has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and an open concept dining room, living room, kitchen, and sunroom. The master suite has a king bed, sitting area, TV, walk in closet and private bath. Bedroom 2 has 2 twin beds. Bedroom 3 has a queen bed. The kitchen has service for 12+ and is fully equipped including a toaster, coffee machine, crock pot, pots and pans, cookie trays and all the utensils that you will need. The island/breakfast bar seats four. The living room has a TV and Blu-ray player. The sunroom is perfect for early risers to drink coffee or tea, read a book and relax. It also has a TV and Blu-ray player. The upstairs has a loft with futon, bedroom with 2 twin beds, half bath and is the perfect sanctuary for children, tweens and teens. The bedroom has two twin beds and chalkboard. The loft has a futon. There is also a TV, PS4 with games and DVDs.
There is a outdoor deck in the front and back with a built in sitting area, Adirondack chairs and a grill. All 3 downstairs bedrooms have sliding glass door with access to the rear deck that looks over wooded common area. Sitting on the rear deck feels like when you were a kid in a tree house.. You will be two minutes away from all the activities. As much as we love pets, we understand that there are people that are allergic to dog and cat dander so I'm sorry but no are pets allowed.
Please note that although the house sleeps upto 12, only 8 adults can sleep comfortably (1 king, 1 queen, 4 twin beds). Other beds are best suited for children (2 sofabeds and 1 futon). The house is in a residential neighborhood and we do not allow loud parties and events. We expect our guest to keep the noise level low after 11PM. We welcome family reunions as long as the guests are respectable to the house and the neighbors.
Note: A pool pass will be provided to guests with unlimited entry at $6/person daily during their stay (and in season). This is a private home, renting does not grant access to Massanutten Resort non-public amenities. Public amenities include, but are not limited to golf, ski/snowboarding, tubing, ice skating, go-karts, zip line, mini golf, water park, etc.
Please note that bugs, mice and other critters are permanent residents of this mountain community. We do our best to keep them outdoor but is not unusual to have an unwanted guest from time to time.

We had a fantastic stay at the Gingerbread House! It was perfect for our family. The place was incredibly clean, which made us feel comfortable and at home. The kids loved the variety of games available, keeping them entertained. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we highly recommend it for families looking for a cozy and fun getaway.

My family and I stayed at The Gingerbread House for my brothers graduation from JMU. House is exactly as pictured and described. It’s a perfect and cozy home for family. There were two living areas we could spread out and a perfect little dining room for family meals. The hosts had these cute little bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash set up and plenty of linens. Really lovely stay.

We loved our stay at the Gingerbread House! The kids especially loved hanging out in the loft area. We played board games and enjoyed each others company. We visited Luray Caverns and hiked in Shenandoah. Great time Overall!

We really enjoyed our stay at the gingerbread House. All the cute little features of the house, it really lives up to its name! We found the house to be extremely well stocked, plenty of extra towels, sheets, and blankets and pillows. The kitchen was in great working order as well—there were knives that actually cut! (Often a problem at vacation homes 😂). Two small things that I shared with the owners during our stay, one of the kitchen cupboards came off the hinges, and a couple of the lights did not have lightbulbs in them. However, this in no way diminished our stay. kids really enjoyed the video games, The chalkboard, and the other games that were provided. One suggestion would be to have an outdoor seating area for meals. Thank you so much, really enjoyedm this day and would stay again with pleasure.

We stayed with a group at this house for a JMU football weekend. It was clean, with a large driveway for multiple cars, and convenient access to JMU just ~20 minutes away. Would recommend!

Has central heating and cooling (thermostat in dining-room). Has auxiliary electric heaters in the Living Room and the Sun Porch. Large Master Bedroom with a huge closet (a modern addition). Small children will be delighted with this cottage. The local property Manager ( Lee) is very helpful, and is easy to deal with.

We came to VA for our daughter's wedding and needed an affordable quiet place that would sleep at least 12 and this place was great! Mr. Dearing, the property manager,was so pleasant and helpful. We would definitely come back!

Visited the area for my nephews weeding at a local Vineyard. House was just as the description said it was. Location was great. Close to town and a quiet drive through the Shenandoah National Park. Even through JMU had a football game it was easy to get around town, no crazy crowds

The house was great, very clean. Supermarlet is a short drive away. Lots of resturant options on Main road in Harrionburg. We especially loved the 1835 Smokehouse (went there 3 times) and the Squirrel ice cream.
Some of the activities we did were the civil war battlefields as well as Luray Caverns, Endless Carverns and Shenendoah Caverns. Luray and Shenendoah Caverns also have other things to do on property.
We went Hiking along Skyline Drive and pulled over at the overlooks to get breathaking pictures as well as hike.

House what great. Everything needed was there. Very spacious for a big family. One recommendation would be to refurbish or recushion the e recliners as they were uncomfortable after a few minutes sitting down on them. Overall though great experience and would definitely recommend it to friends and family

Check in was easy. House was comfortable and cute. Beds were amazingly comfortable! We had a very nice getaway. Went hiking to a waterfall at the National Park. Went to the waterpark and visited Luray Caverns. Hanks restaurant is very good and close and Bennys Pizza delivers. However these pizzas are ginormous so if you are going to order make sure you are hungry! Had a great time thank you!
