About this house rental

At less than 470 sq feet, this 1920s house is super fun & ready to be enjoyed for a couples, friends, and small families!
• King sized bed with smart tv on the first floor
• Two twin beds in a cozy sleeping loft
• Small kitchen with propane stove, Nespresso maker & living space with a smart tv
• Patio w/ charcoal grill, solo stove, & dining table
• Paddle board & floats
Please read through our totally honest disclaimer below!
Summer Camp is available for 3–4 night minimum stays between Memorial Day & Labor day. We do generally have some odd dates in the summer that allow for shorter stays so please check the calendar.
Sept-April bookings are available for 2-night minimum stays.
Please message us with questions or for more details!
This is an older home with quirks and charm so please be aware of this before booking. Here is our completely honest disclaimer so you know exactly what you are getting!
• The sleeping loft with twin beds is accessed by a small, narrow staircase without a lot of headroom. Please use caution with it and know that it is not ideal for young children or those with difficulty climbing stairs. It is a super cool space but quirky! A lot of the time we have couples stay (which this house is perfect for) who don’t use the loft. For a small family like ours, our young kids LOVE getting to camp out up in the loft.
• We are five blocks from the beach, so the space is best experienced either anticipating a short drive to the beach, or by planning on renting bikes or a golf cart which makes exploring historic Cape Charles super fun!
• It’s a tiny house and the only one of its kind in Cape Charles … but … it is a TINY house. We love the little kitchen; however, it is not ideal for cooking a big meal. The shower is small as is the bathroom sink. We enjoy the space with our family of five, but definitely have to squeeze in!
• It’s also a historic tiny house. Being at the beach the floors sometimes get a little dusty and, in the fall, leaves blow up on the patio. Occasionally, there will be bugs inside – again – it’s an older house at the beach and please expect some of these things as part of the charm!
• The back sliding glass door is secured with a pole that slides in the bottom of the door. Just including this because we had one person complain (loudly) about this.
• Finally – know that our cleaning fee is less than what our cleaner actually charges. Please be aware of this if you book – especially in the off season when you have the chance to book for killer rates as we like to allow as many people as possible to get to enjoy Summer Camp! We have the best cleaner on the Shore working with us, however it is hard to find reliable people in this somewhat remote location. Hopefully that’s why you’re pumped to stay in Cape Charles anyway …
We’ve had a few people with different expectations stay with us and we do not want that to happen to you!
We LOVE our tiny house and cherish the times we get to come stay. If you’re still as excited as we are to stay at Summer Camp after reading these notes, we think you will fall in love with it and Cape Charles, too!!

The owners of this property did an incredible job making the house feel charming! You can tell they put a lot of effort into the design and decoration of the home, giving it a cozy yet modern feel! The location was perfect. We were able to walk everywhere, including the shops, beach, and the free concert in the park! We loved having a front porch to sit on in the mornings and evenings, and there was plenty of outdoor space in the backyard as well. We felt that the house wasn’t as clean as we had hoped (stovetop and oven left covered in grease, toilet not wiped down, sand in loft sheets, dirty microwave, couch covered in stains). However, this is in no way a deal breaker! We enjoyed our time in Cape Charles and were very thankful for our stay here.

We frequent Cape Charles and this tiny house was charming, comfortable, and close to all the fun. The owners were very responsive and quick to fix a minor issue. Would definitely book again!

The moment I pulled up to the cottage I was blown away by its charm and when I stepped inside it had my heart. So warm and welcoming, quaint and lovely. The cottage was perfectly clean and tidy and met all my needs. I will definitely return and highly recommend to others.

My husband and I were looking for a new getaway not too far from home (3-4 hours) that would let us truly unwind and enjoy nature, good meals, and peaceful/modern amenities. Cape Charles and the Summer Camp Tiny Cottage were perfect. We'll be back!

Katie and Phillip are fantastic hosts! The place was clean and well stocked. They put a lot of thought into making the place feel cozy, a perfect place to relax after the beach.
The kitchen is a bit smaller than I realized and not very conducive to cooking if you are planning on doing much of that. Other reviews were not kidding about the tiny shower! My 7 months pregnant belly could barely squeeze in haha
Otherwise, we had a great stay!

My husband and I enjoyed our time at Summer Camp. The property was perfect for the two of us during our long weekend stay. Love the decor and the cozy bedding!

My children and I stayed here for a week. It was lovely for a getaway. We kept cooking to a minimum (because you know mommas need a vacay too) which was perfect given the kitchen size. Shower was a bit difficult to navigate with the younger child but it was not unexpected. Overall very pleased with our tiny house adventure.

Summer Camp Cottage was a sweet little spot for a long weekend. We've been going to Cape Charles for years and it has grown in popularity and cost. This cottage was an affordable get away. The owners were very responsive to questions or concerns. The decor was on point.
The kitchen and shower area were a bit smaller than I expected. But the location is great and the outdoor seating space helps add some square footage.

We loved our stay! Our daughters affectionately called it the Barbie house. Perfect for a small family or couple.

This house was just what we were looking for. It had everything we needed and was clean. The check in/out process was very easy. Great communication from the owners. This was our second time staying in Cape Charles and you just can’t beat the laid back old school vibes that you get here. Cruising around town on the golf cart is always fun and the beach is perfect especially for smaller kids. We love all the shops and restaurants too. We’ll definitely be back!

This is one of the cutest houses on the street on the outside and it is equally cute on the inside. It was fun to experience tiny house living for a few days and the 3 of us had plenty of space. The only place we could have used a bit more space was in the shower. Walking to everything was a bit too far for our 3 year old, but using the stroller or renting a golf cart solved that (and was also a fun experience). The owners clearly care about this house a lot and have put so much thought into the decor and furnishings. It was nice that there were so many things available for us - beach chairs, floats, towels, soap, high quality shampoo and conditioner. Katie quickly responded to any of my communications.

Summer Camp is an amazing little cottage that offers modern amenities while still maintaining historical charm. Katie & Philip were fantastic about communicating. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable, and I loved having my morning coffee on the screened in porch. I rented a golf cart, but everything in town was walkable from the cottage. I can't wait to go back!

I love Cape Charles and this adorable little house! My mother and I celebrated my birthday at Summer Camp in May 2023. The house is so charming, bursting with natural light, and well equipped. The screened-in porch and large backyard are major perks. My baby-boomer mom stayed in the large, newly renovation first-floor bedroom. I enjoyed the novelty of loft, climbing up the ladders, and ducking below the low ceiling, but not everyone might. The bathroom is small but proportional to the house. Bring a shower cap if you like to shower without getting your hair wet each time. This compact kitchen has all the essentials, though we only made simple breakfasts at home and ate out a lot. Renting a golf cart is a must in Cape Charles, and we could easily park and charge our cart in front of the house. The owners were very responsive before and during our stay. I would definitely return to Summer Camp for my next birthday!

This is the cutest little home with a great backyard space and patio set and grill to enjoy. It's close to the beach, adults can walk to the beach, for little kids its a little far so we drove the whole 2 min drive down to the beach daily, mostly to haul all the kids beach toys etc. but there is plenty of parking. Then at night we walked the town from the house. You can easily bike this entire town too. The home had everything we needed. We will definitely be back again!

Tiny Oasis
Just like it’s name, Summer Camp is super cute! It had everything we needed and everything had a home, including spots to tuck your suitcases out of the way (under the bunk and staircase). The house was very clean and offered everything you’d need for a stay, including extras like shampoo/conditioner/toilet paper, etc. The yard was large enough to play in and the front porch was a perfect spot to have your morning coffee and even had a plug for your golf cart. We loved all of the hooks to hang things. Beds were comfortable and having a water purifier was amazing. We had family staying around the corner and they couldn’t believe how nice and cool our tiny home was on these 90+ degree days. We loved this tiny oasis!
