The property is dated/old. If someone above or beside you is showering or flushes the toilet it sounds like water is coming down into your walls and regardless there’s a constant sound of water in the ceiling or walls. Property over all could use some updates. It is a great location in terms of walking to restaurants & shops. If you’re looking for a less expensive option then it’s fine. It feels like a Motel 6. People were nice, bed was comfortable & free coffee & tea. There aren’t any other amenities so it’s really just a place to sleep and that’s how we looked at it.

We loved our stay at Inn By The Sea. It was close to the walking path by the beach, great food surrounding us, and the rooms are spacious and clean. I will definitely be staying here again when in the area either for work or personal.

Its not worth for the money they charged. Sea view is blocked by the building next to it. PARKING is available on first come service.it doesnt have 4 star like facilities. You can stay at nearest 4 star hotel instead

Good location, nice hotel, very friendly and helpful service at check-in. The downside was a lack of strong A/C in our room. It was hot outside and the room air was not turned on at arrival, and it took hours to cool down. By late evening, we had to ask for a fan because our room was still too warm. They did provide one but it was a puzzling situation. On the plus side, La Jolla was fun! Enjoyed a morning jog along the ocean path, saw seals and dolphins, a beautiful sunset, and had an awesome time hiking at Torrey Pines Nature Reserve!

I stay here 30-40 nights a year but this last experience has made me reconsider if I will continue. My status from Expedia was not recognized this trip. I stayed at another hotel the next night and was immediately upgraded.

The hotel is a sold 6 out of 10. Clean and comfortable, but pretty economy in details and furnishings. The woman who checked us in was just horrible. We purchased three rooms, one for us and one each for our adult children. We specifically asked that we be given the highest floor available. She told her she had, but then checked in my son and gave him the higher floor. When I laid her told her that was inconsiderate, she just laughed it off and said she never actually checked.

Inn by the Sea is the perfect stay in La Jolla. The hotel is clean, in a very safe and quiet area. It has great amenities , pool & lounge area. The location couldn’t be more perfect- minutes away from the beach, close to coffee shops, shopping and all the La Jolla charm.

There was a problem with housekeeping, but the manager's service mind and attitude to solve the problem were amazing. I want to visit again to see her(Stephanie). In conclusion, it is a good accommodation with excellent service and quality. But the sea is not as close as it is in the picture.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Almost full size fridge in the room. Did not really need all of it but for those that did....a bonus. Seattle Best Coffee available 24 hrs and in the lobby in the morning. Delicious!!! Beds very comfortable. Love sitting on the balcony. Liked the top floor and the view of the ocean. Would stay there again!

This hotel overall is pretty average in terms of appearance and amenities, but it is in a great location within easy walking distance to the beach, shopping, and many good restaurants. The pool is kind of small, there is no hot tub, couldn’t get the shower to stay at a consistent temperature (I guess too much demand for hot water?) and you have to pay $20 a day for parking. Expedia says I had “VIP Access” but I don’t really know what that is. It’s not a bad place, and the area is beautiful. I’d say it’s like staying at a basic Hampton Inn without the free breakfast but in a great location.

It’s starting to look a little shabby, but the hotel is clean, comfortable and convenient and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I have stayed there many times and keep coming back.

Perfect location while visiting La Jolla. Right in the middle of town so you can walk to everything. Hotel is nice and clean but could use a little updating. New carpeting/flooring throughout for example would give it a fresh, new look. Room is clean and beds are comfortable. Nice, friendly staff.

The staff were friendly and prompt. The bed was comfy. Towels were a bit rough! I requested a room with a bit of a view but was told they were taken, but if one opened up they would move us-and they did! For some reason, our receipt could never be sent via email after several tries, so a print out was provided. Cannot beat the location!

The shower water fluctuated in Temperature as if when someone would turn a git tap on in the sunk the water went cold. We were there for 3 days and at check that they would service the room on the 2nd day which didn't happen. Very disappointing!

From the moment I booked, to checking in and checking out, everything went perfectly! I got an early check in. And walked in opened the window and had the most beautiful view! A perfect way to celebrate our anniversary. Walking distance to everything! We will definitely be back!! Highly recommend!

Whenever we’re visiting our son in San Diego we always prefer to stay at Inn By The Sea. It’s a modest, no frills hotel, but it’s always clean, well run with friendly service and its location can’t be beat! We love being a short walk from La Jolla village’s many excellent restaurants and cafes. It’s also less than a block from the ocean and La Jolla’s stunning coastline.
