The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua offers 463 air-conditioned accommodations with iPod docking stations and DVD players. Rooms open to furnished lanais. Beautiful property in Maui!! The hour drive in from the airport at night is a bit daunting! With the darkness, rain and poor road visibility you must be careful. With that said it made it difficult to navigate finding the property. Once there it is well worth it!! The kindness of the staff is constant and they made our stay enjoyable. Their staff surprised hubby & I with a beautifully decorated 30th Wendy Anniversary display in our room!! Please note this side of the island does tend to have more rainy/windy/cloudy days that hubby hated at this resort. I on the other hand enjoyed every minute!!! Everything from the nightly live music, their strong mai tai’s, walk to Harvest church on Sunday to their private beach is top notch and gorgeous!! I highly recommend!!

The glory of the Ritz-Carlton was missing. The staff were friendly enough but not overly so. We upgraded to a suite. The best thing about that suite was the Kitchenette. We hardly used it. The lampshades were all crooked, the furniture was dated, and some areas showed wear and tear. The pool area service was very poor, you can hardly find anyone to cater to us. Towels were thrown all over the pool area with no one to pick up. The Concierge for the pool was more interested in selling Maui Jim than in seeing what the patrons needed. And by the way, we purchased the two pairs from him. The executive lounge is well furnished; however, they were understaffed, and the food variety was poor, and again, hardly anyone would come around to check on us. I might add that on the last day of our staff, we noticed a change in the staff's behavior; it seemed like they had a visit from corporate. Certainly did not feel like a Ritz Carlton.

We always love our stay! All the employees were amazing. 2 small areas of improvement..we had an electric car and there is currently one charge station that did not work. Luckily, we had enough charge to get back to airport. I also had a pretty good fall at the pool. We asked guest relations if there was any medical people on staff that could give us a second opinion on whether I needed stitches. They said yes and called her right away. Turns out she was security and couldn’t give us any medical advice. Just gave us some bandaids. Maybe a list of nearby urge t cares would be helpful to have on hand? All in all we had a fabulous time and look forward to returning.

This is our 2nd summer in a row staying at the Ritz, and honestly, I don’t know that we’d stay anywhere else when visiting Maui. The property is just gorgeous, with it’s various pools, dining options, and that lounge that really gives that WOW factor as you first walk in. As always, kudos to Joy W. who welcomed us again with open arms (literally) as she remembered us from our trip last year. What a treat it was to see her again! The one and only negative is the $65 daily fee for valet parking, as they don’t have a self parking option, and if you have a rental car you have no choice but to use the valet. I think for our next trip we will not get a rental and Uber our way around town.

The hotel appears grand and well maintained but the furniture and appliances in the rooms is outdated. Our expectations were high but it felt like any mediocre hotel chain. The on property luau was also sub-par but the price was inflated because the Ritz hosts it. It is held inside a event room rather than being outside - which is so disappointing for a "cultural/authentic experience" about the Polynesian Islands?

The Ritz is located in an area that gets hit with high winds and a lot more rain than we expected. It’s also pretty remote and residential. The pool was nice. The beach was a decent walk down the hill and nicer beaches were further away.

It seem under staff when it can to the bellhops and getting room services. Several times when calling the Valet for my vehicle it went un answer, same for other things like room services, bartenders at the pool and housekeeping. One of the elevators on my wing was down so it was a hassle for everyone to use the one available and overall it just gave it a bad look. Really didn’t like that there’s no other option for parking other than valet t $50/night. Communication with concierge was not good giving the wrong info, I asked about the beach chairs and umbrellas if you can reserved it I do in how much and she said they were free and didn’t need reservations but at the beach the staff informed me I had to reserve them and that they weren’t free. For the price overall I would definitely not recommend.

The staff were amazing as was our concierge, Sarah Williams. Margie at the front desk was also above and beyond. The only issues I had were the amount of families with very young children who were running around uncontrolled. Some even yelling and screaming. Very uncomfortable in the lobby, in the halls and dining. Additionally, there was a lady with her dog at the pool. Seriously? If you are looking for a quiet retreat, this is not the place. But again the accommodations and service were amazing. The food was very good. And the views spectacular.
