Although the hotel is very convenient to Times Square and the Rockefeller Center it didn’t have any amenities. The hot water tank was out one morning. The elevator is so small and although there were 2 only one was working. The day we were leaving we had to take the stairs with our luggage because we couldn’t get an elevator. They were jammed packed whenever it stopped on our floor.

Most expensive hotel we've ever stayed at in NYC. Paid over $1000 fro 2 nights. It was NYC marathon weekend so maybe that's why. Wait for the one elevator was extremely long-took over 20 minutes to go and back down every time. Door would make huge noise every time it was opened and door lock on inside was half off and dangling. On a plus, location was convenient - very central to theaters and bus station (Penn). Friendly and courteous staff.

I've added The Gallivant to my "no stay" list. The room was tiny and in bad shape (chipped woodwork, chipped paint on the walls, dirty windows). The shower was miserable: there was a pane of glass over half the stall, and the other half of the staff was empty. Was this supposed to be trendy and chic? The bathroom floor flooded every time I took a shower. The sign said there were ice machines on the 15th and 10th floors: the machine on the 15th floor was dead and in fact there was no ice machine at all on the 10th floor. Only two tiny elevators for 16 floors? I had to wait 10 minutes for an elevator. On the day I checked out, one of the elevators appeared to be not working (it was stuck on the 3rd floor). For $388 per night, I expected better than this mess. I'm not going back.

No access to thermostat in our room. Hotel halls dirty, undergoing renovations but truly a mess. No hot water in the building day of departure so no showers. Elevators slow and inadequate! Location for Broadway good and the staff was trying all doing their best in hard conditions.

At first we were given a room which was quite small, even for NYC, a little beat up, although bathroom was updated nicely. It was a little dark, one small/average window, not much room to walk around the end of the bed, paint was splotchy, missing a light fixture on one side of the bed. So we got another room which was MUCH better, cleaner, bigger, better for the price we were paying during December. Then didn't have hot water for the shower. We figured use was high, but hey, it should still have hot water. We mentioned it and all was fine the next 2 days. Bed was VERY comfortable, although I would recommend a 3rd pillow since they squished down quite a bit, but overall comfortable. Take note: it's a great location if you want to be a block west of Times Square, but next to a fire station and constant sirens going off, hey it's NYC! If you want quieter, stay farther away from Times Square. Staff was very friendly, with the exception of only one or 2, but no big deal, the others made up for it. Overall stay was fine, great location to the action and noisy overnight, maybe like afternoon to maybe 2am. Elevators are small and it can take a bit to catch to go back down from your room. It took us nearly 20 minutes or more to catch the elevator when we checked out. Much too long. If we didn't have all our luggage we would've taken the stairs since only on the 6th floor.

It was a nice bathroom and comfy bed but not very clean. The bedside table I wiped myself and the cloth was pretty dirty. Paint chipping and lights didn’t work. There was no thermostat (so one night was too cold and the other too hot)

This hotel is quite tiny. The rooms are made for people that do not want a lot of space around them. The bathroom is not set up for anyone over 200 pounds. The staff was very attentive to meet our needs. The hallways and rooms are showing their age. I guess this is why the hotel averages lower room rentals compared to others in the area. I would not stay here again.
