Lovely room with view of the cathedral, very close to the city. Helpful, friendly staff. All amemities needed for our christmas weekend stay. Just what we needed.
2.5
A little hard to find the entrance when we arrived but the hotel was very nice and the service was excellent, very friendly staff and helpful. The location was great, only a few minutes walk down town.
2.5
Great experience, great staff so so helpful and friendly.

The hotel was lovely. It had a car park which is charageable but thats normal. Checked in service was great.
The lift was out of order we were on second floor so had a lot of steps to go up. They fid offer to take our bags.
I have bad knees so the steps didnt help. We were in a room the furthest point away it felt. The room was nice and clean.
We went out for food and came back to bed after a long day on rd. The pillows were awful your head sunk to mattress the room was freezing and the theromostate did not work i did not sleep. Next morning our coridor was freezing but when u walking into another area it was boiling.
Breakfast was not the best great service but the fruit tasted sour the mushrooms were very plasticy. The food was not being replenished so no beans or potatos. I was not impressed. We were very tired for our day working and driving
2.0
The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The heating was not easy to control but the room was comfortable was was the dining room. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast selection was extensive, well cooked and varied.
The bar area was rather "corporate" and could be less formal.
It should be clearer that there are expensive charges for car parking, increasing the cost of the stay by over £22-.
The hotel is within easy walking distance of the city's attractions.

Enjoyed our stay my only criticism would be we were not in the main hotel and had a view of the car park. We had to cross over the carpark for breakfast so if it was raining could really spoil your breakfast vibe. The room also had very poor lighting so was very hard to read at night and in the day.
2.0
Room was very good clean and comfortable. Location was good. Breakfast was good also.

The stay started ok and the room was nice. I had had a long day travelling and working. I ordered some food from the bar, an hour later my food still hadn't arrived. I went to reception to complain as I couldn't find anyone else. She called the catering manager to come and see me. After 10 minutes he came out the receptionist told him the problem. He looked at me as if to say how dare you complain and walked off without saying anything to me. I told him not to walk away from me and he glared and continued to walk. I went packed my bags got a refund and left to find a much nicer hotel with helpful people.

Location is amazing, just a short walk into the center. Hotel is comfortable and very clean. All the staff are very friendly

Great staff and large room. Great location for the city centre.

Hotel v clean
Upon check in to room , the room was boiling hot. We immediately turned down the thermostat and opened the r windows. When I called reception they explained that many of the rooms on my floor had been impacted by faulty air con systems and that an engineer was coming tomorrow. We did then get two fans in to the room. The room was so hot that even two fans didn’t keep the temperature down so we had to have windows and curtains open to ventilate the room. It was in excess of 30 degrees - we were sweating and went through 2 litres of water overnight. This was a known issue before we had checked in and I was surprised they didn’t offer to change room , provide any drinks or any complementary refreshments .
Room was a good size but with windows open , the noise of the city was very loud, the room hot, fans going all night so we didn’t get a good sleep
Next day I tried to change our cab to the station and after waiting 15 mins then had to chase up as it hadn’t been done, by which time it was quicker to walk with our bags to the station
I did expect more attentiveness and standard from a Marriott hotel and although the lady who delivered our fans was lovely and kind, the rest of service was below 4 star

Never got the room we paid for as checked in early , was very dusty and lots of cobwebs, overall was nice , breakfast was lovely , staff nice too
2.5
Lovely hotel and atmosphere. Extremely well looked after by Gavin on the front desk. Gym in good condition and plenty of kit. Rooms a touch tired. Breakfast smashing. Great hash browns.

Hotel is rated four star, I felt it was three at best. Our room was at the rear of the hotel building near the river. Our window faced in the Courtyard main Road area. It was a maze to get to the room up to level two! But you had a long walk to the rear area, then from floor two you had to go down stairs again to level one. It was upstairs downstairs to the room.
The room was a little dated, furniture was dark like the 1990s,carpets of the whole hotel were well used and in need of a clean or replacement.
Took two attempts to find the room. A little frustrating are we arrived wet. And needed in the room fast. Breakfast was ok! With the standard breakfast choice! If older people stay ask for a map.

I stayed at the Marriott in Durham for three nights on a business trip, and it was excellent. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, perfect for unwinding after a busy day. Breakfast each morning was delicious, with a good variety of options, and the staff were attentive and friendly. The hotel’s location was convenient and well connected to the city. Overall, it was a great experience - I’d definitely stay here again!
2.5
Fabulous stay again, thank you. I don’t stay anywhere else when visiting family there

Room was fine - just a bit dated. Also parking isn’t free. But location was good and room was comfortable
1.0
The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Thats as good as it's gets really, we got a superior room and was very basic.
The pillows were so thin we needed extra, brown stains on the netting at the windows, what looks like round bleach or paint stains on the wallpaper and mould in the bathroom.
People kept standing outside the windows and smoking (staff included) and it was so loud as staff bins and laundry was kept near the windows that we barely slept through the night.
The walls are so thin we hers people's toilets flushing and the upstairs shower sounded like a storm outside how loud it was, I actually woke up thinking it was thundering.
Breakfast was good and facilities were okay.
4.0
Lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff. Good facilities. For some reason we were put into an accessible room which we didn’t need so the bathroom wasn’t really very luxurious but had everything we needed so we didn’t ask to move

The room was very clean and comfortable & the location was perfect. I would highly recommend

1 of the nicest hotels we've stayed in.
Didn't really expect to pay £11 to park overnight, but, apart from that 10 out of 10.
2.0
Room was lovely & a good size with a riverview
Bed was super king & really comfy, which sometimes you dont get in hotels.
Great locations for shops/pubs/restaurants
Would definitely stay again

We had a lovely overnight stay here. Check out was 12 noon which meant we felt very chilled. We had a great nights sleep and it was so quiet, was therefore really surprised when we came down to breakfast and found hotel to be super busy. Highly recommend if you are in Durham city.
2.0
The hotel is in a great location, just across the river from the middle of Durham and its sites, shops and bars. The room was comfortable and a good size.
3.0
A hotel which has clearly seen better days. Durham has deteriorated over the years and the at night it feels a tad unsafe with the locals youths.
2.0
The staff at reception was very helpful; they gave me great advice on a route for my morning walk, and stored my (heavy!) luggage for a few hours after my checkout very graciously. My room was very nice, in the older part of the hotel. My only complaint is that there was something very noisy going on in the space above me throughout the morning...it sounded like weight-lifting, or moving furniture, and went on for hours. Didn't bother me much, but it might have bothered someone more sensitive to noise.
2.5
A great stay
5.0
Friendly reception and restaurant staff. Good to have a noon checkout and breakfast served till 10.30am. So didnt feel rushed.
I actually like the fact that the rooms are only serviced every 2 days but if you need fresh towels etc you just ask.
5.0
Very clean and comfortable, in a great location

Great Hotel to stay for 3or 4 days. Had a great time lots to do
2.5
It was actually my daughter that I booked for. The booking process was easy, the hotel were happy to confirm details and very helpful.
My daughter loved her 'superior room' with a river view and had a very pleasant stay, The staff were very nice, the breakfast was standard but good and she would definitely stay again if it were in a similar room.
2.5
Nice hotel, good breakfast, in a perfect location.
3.0
Breakfast awful. Rooms dated dusty, and dirty windows.
2.5
Great stay, clean, tidy and very comfortable. Excellent breakfast.

The place is perfectly located to explore the city.

Super friendly staff at check in, the room is fantastic, the only negative I have is the floorboards are super squeaky haha

Our stay was excellent... apart from breakfast, which was dire. Welcome and staff were friendly and helpful. Bedroom was large and well appointed, with comfy king bed with fine quality bedlinen. Bath towels were rather narrow in the transatlantic model, but adequate. Toiletries were fine, though no body lotion. Position of hotel was brilliant - close to the city centre and cathedral and castle.
BUT breakfast was awful. "Orange juice" (labelled as such) was actually diluted oversweet orange squash - yuck! Fresh fruit was only water melon and pineapple, both is short supply. No granola. Bread was cheap and unpleasant. Scrambled eggs cold and pale and tasteless. Croissants were doughy. Plates supplied for cooked breakfast were side plate size... an unsubtle attempt at portion control. A lady at the next table said that quantities over the previous two days had been worse still. Come on Marriott! You can do better than this!! No wonder the hotel is called "delta". I would grade the breakfast epsilon.

Kind and helpful staff. Very nice breakfast as well.

Great hotel, and it’s my second time staying there. And I’ll go back again in September.
