I always look forward to my annual visit to The Royal York. I tried to book directly through the loyalty program for the best rate but it was 100$ cheaper thru a booking co. I was given an older room which smelled very stale. I tried calling the front desk but it rang away unanswered. When I pulled back the duvet, there were holes in the sheets. There was sticky smudges on the bedside table glass as well. The smell was bad enough to give me a headache. Pehaps it was once a smoking room. I couldn't alter the temperature in the room but it did help to turn the fan on a higher setting. When checking out, I was asked how my stay was and when I told the gentleman, he comped my valet parking. It was appreciated. Sorry to say, I won't be back. I will stay at a newer hotel without carpeting.

The Fairmont surprised us by upgrading our room to a lovely suite after our train arrived 8 hours late from Vancouver. My husband had Covid and I was recovering from it. The concierge staff also bought medicine for us at a pharmacy and had it delivered to our suite because the pharmacy would be closed by our arrival time. It was fantastic service and we will never forget it.

The Royal York is a vintage hotel that has aged pretty well. I found the staff to be universally friendly and professional. The accommodations were in good condition save for the following items.
The shower had a rainfall and handheld head. The handle to switch between the two was nearly impossible to move. When i was done with my shower, i discovered a sizable pool of water on the marble oor which was partially absorbed by the bath mat. I ended up sliding to the sink to shave. My suite was so jam packed with furniture that i ended up putting the suitcase stand in the living room. There were only two dress hangers in the closet. No iron, only a steamer. Small items that detract from the stay.

Everything about our stay was excellent. The only thing I would have liked - if there would have been an outside terrace for guests to sit and enjoy a drink or read a book…

Room itself and bathroom were definitely older as it’s a historical hotel but the lobby and location were incredible.
Would stay again purely for the location, reputation and service - however, note that the cleaners didn’t properly clean the room/ bathroom during daily service and the room service was a little slow (I asked if they had honey as we were a little sick and they said they’d bring it right up but it didn’t show up for over an hour and a half so I cancelled and just went to a convenience store 10 mins walk away. They then brought the honey anyway 3 / 4 hours later…)
The room prices through the hotel are much too expensive though (500cad per night) so just get it through 3rd party - I wouldn't pay over 300cad a night personally.

I would think twice about booking here. They gave us a room right beside the elevators 9th floor 272 (avoid it). Not letting us know the we would hear the elevators all night long. We barely slept. All they offered us was earplugs. I’m sorry but when I’m paying north of $600, earplugs just don’t cut it. The front desk said because we booked through a third party ( Hotels.com ) the Fairmont Royal York, that they couldn’t do a thing about it. On top of all that we didn’t even have a tv remote in the room. Not happy. Serves me right for not staying at the Hilton.

The location is amazing very close to St Lawrence Market, and many other places. The swimming pool was nice. The gym has lots of good treadmill and bikes, and weights, but it could be bigger. Nice touch with water and fruit at the gym. Excellent locker, shower area at the gym/pool. Room was comfortable but outdated. Free wifi, nice working A/C, nice hot shower, Restaurants at the hotel are crazy expensive but there are tons of options close by.

We showed up just before midnight and it still took more than 30 minutes to check in (there were only two parties in front of us). The main elevators were either not working or turned off; the guests from an event that was ending as we arrived all had to take the stairs to exit. Only one of the entrances is accessible which was very inconvenient as it rained during our stay and we had to walk around the whole hotel just to get indoors and the doormen were extremely food explaining this.

The room is extremely small and I had the luxury of hearing the elevators all night. The main reason I booked was so my daughter and I could use the sauna and pool which we were told she wasn’t allowed due to her age. There was also a mix up with my valet parking which I paid at the front desk and the valet service desk lady made me feel like I didn’t pay and had to show her proof I did. I booked with the Hotels app and I was not treated the same as when I booked using their app.

I’ve contacted the hotel twice about my security deposit and was told it would be returned, but it still has not almost 2 weeks after my stay.

I booked looking at the pictures online - which showed a modern nice bedrooms, however when i checked in i got a old - physical & design bedroom. Later i realised there are two wings - one with newly refurbished & the other with the older rooms. This isn’t clear online when booking, so was very disappointed with the quality of the room - you can hear everything from loud a/c vents, to housekeeping carts, to guests conversations in next room to everyone!
No one asked me how was my stay - not even at checkout! The luggage porter was very helpful.But when coming back to Toronto, i would definitely not recommend this hotel to my colleagues or friends.

We were here for an event and stayed the night for convenience. The experience was very disappointing for a hotel of this caliber.
The room was extremely small, but clean and well maintained. The size is understandable for the location, it's the heart of downtown Toronto.
The water pressure was horrible. We didn't have enough water to shower at 11:30pm or at 8am - not just hot water, but water in general. Flushing also was a problem. The shower gel was also empty - it was too late so we didn't bother requesting.

The cozy and warm decor of the hotel was lovely and the rooms were affordable. The location is fantastic. The Library Bar serves unique dishes and great drinks.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful. Close to everything we needed.
We were happy to see the complimentary waters in the room after walking around the city for over an hour, until we went to open them and one was already half empty. The staff must have missed it. Then, before bed, noticed that the mouth wash was opened and not replaced. We were a little disappointed, but other than that the room was clean and comfortable.

I am extremely disappointed with our stay for the cost of the room per night. I could have stayed at the best western for an equal experience and would have saved almost $1000. Even my child stated that the room was better in the Dominican Republic than the Fairmont Royal York. I’ll be reaching out to the manager and head office directly to voice my concerns and will also be posting social reviews with pictures and videos of the state of the room. Unbelievably disappointing

Perfect location for attending an event at Scotiabank Arena, and walkable distance to other main sites. Gorgeous hotel, very clean, and the restaurants/bars were phenomenal. Food and drinks are outstanding. Definitely will be booking it again next time I come to Toronto.

The hotel was luxurious and the room was clean! The only issue was the ridiculously long line for check in. I’m not sure if this issue can even be resolved. The staff were amazing and apologetic for the wait
