It was a good stay. I was on business, If your on business, best to upgrade the Wi-fi. Had a one bedroom, quite spacious. Full sized fridge and dishwasher. Coffee maker was clean. Microwave was clean too. Bed was medium firm, felt a little droopy in the middle. Free breakfast was hit or miss, but had a nice variety. Rooms were quiet, despite construction going on at 8:00am on a Sunday morning. It's stopped by lunch. Great AC. Felt secure, pet friendly and did not smell like pets. Bright clean linens. Good sized T.V.'s. No bugs, dead or alive. Quiet hours at night with security guard doing rounds. No barking during the night. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pool was well kept, no smoking hotel. Nothing to complain about. Will stay again, perhaps not on the ground floor and if possible away from construction, but I was able to relax and get my work done. Good restaurants in all directions of this hotel.

Room could use a deep clean. Carpet, couch, vanity should be replaced. Hallways are dull and could use updating. The walls need sound proofing. The size and layout of the suit was excellent. The pool loungers could use cushions. Loungers were great but needed padding. There was quite a bit of construction, which resulted in some interesting folks hanging around the buildings at all hours of the night. Breakfast was ok. 8:30 is a bit early to shutdown breakfast IMO.

Nice setup a large living area with kitchen, full fridge etc. The main problem was the air quality in the room. A strong mildew stink was present in our room, #243. The breakfast was average for the style of hotel. However, the decaf coffee was unmarked. It did not say decaf anywhere on the container. The staff said it was decaf and I hope they were right since the caffeine and my heart don't get along. They had the mini transport trolleys available to haul stuff to and from the rooms which was good.

Check in was quick and efficient, room was great, we have to come to UAB periodically for doctor visits, this has become our choice of stay.

I hate to say but this was by the worst stay we have ever had at Sonesta ES. We went down upon getting into our room and let Candy at the front desk know the condition of our room. She felt bad, yet we still have not heard anything back. She was bothered by the situation and said she would talk to the night manager behind her after she got off the phone. I went down to the lobby as soon as we got into our room to let them know and show with photos the issues. There was hair all over the bathroom walls, some sort of liquid on the ceiling in the shower, hair on the towels, bathroom door was broken and split at the bottom making it rub along the floor when even attempting to close. Chairs at little table were damaged and the room smelt and still smells like a wet mildew basement. We have stay here 2-3 times a year for the past 4 years and this is the first and most disappointing stay.
I’m praying we don’t get sick and unfortunately we have no other place to go. Again I came w/ photos to show the front desk and she was shocked as well as grossed out. I cleaned the bathroom with what I could find but after flying all day and driving 3 hours to arrive to this it not a let down. We love staying here in the past & now with pending reservations for 3 rooms in May I’m quite concerned to say the least as we also have family coming in out of state & the odor of a musty mildew basement is not ok. Going on day 3, still no word from mgmt. Typical of Motel 6 not Sonesta ES.

The stay was fine, but the service was not especially great. I paid for early check 10a - 2p. I arrived at 12:15p and no room was ready. The clerk was a little bit rude but fine. I was probably not the only one that paid for early checkin. She stated she would call but I received no call although she stated she called 4 times (my phone did not ring). She must have miss dialed. I finally got out of my vehicle (after sitting inside for 2 1/2 hours to find my room was finally ready. THIS WAS UNEXCEPTABLE SINCE THEY ARE THE ONES THAT SENT THE EMAIL TO PURCHASE EARLY CHECKIN

Found this hotel to be very roomy and clean! Breakfast was hot and offered a variety of options and the kitchen attendant was very helpful everyday. The room came with a kitchenette which was very clean. Also, the AC is an individual central unit which was really nice. I had left a higher priced hotel because of the lack of humidity control in the room. When I realized I needed to stay a few days longer, they even let me keep my room and not have to check out and check in though I went through an online 3rd party booking app. The front desk hotel attendant even remembered my name. Overall, there was just a really nice and personal atmosphere here (I didn't feel like a number). The hotel is located in a convenient place (near stores/Walmart/restaurants, close by, I-65) and a safe well patrolled location. Visiting family member receiving critical care at UAB hospital.

Property was clean and nice. We got new towels and clean linens only 1 time in 6 days.

The room appear to be clean and we always check our sheets first and they looked to be clean and changed.
The only problem was there was a large gap on our door that look like someone may have tried forced entry and when we checked to make sure we had left nothing in the room there was trash under our bed with a Gatorade bottle and a water bottle. it look like they sweep the trash under the bed instead of picking it up.
Other than that the room was comfortable and the AC works very well.

I don't understand why the thermostat is set to not go lower than 68- in this summer's heat! I mean we had folks visit us and it got stuffy real quick! The breakfast is boring- slow supply, more demand. The place is other wise comfortable, close to good eateries and clean.

We were travelling for a baseball tourney and ready to settle in and sleep. Upon check-in we were greeted with the warmest smile and sweetest woman! A super hard worker and sweet as Alabama tea! She told us that the hotel is being remodeled soon but they had already finished some projects. The rooms were clean and comfy. We felt very safe. It was me and 2 kiddos and I never worried about them. Breakfast included premade sandwiches (3 different types) that were hot and delicious. We were able to grab and go which was delightful for us. The last day they had sausage gravy and homemade biscuits.....OMG YUM! I only had to call to the front desk once and it was for extra towels.....they arrived at my door in less than 5 minutes. The service here is impeccable! Thank you for making me a new sonesta suites believer. Next time we're up there we will be sure to stay again!

From check-in to checkout this was by far one of our best hotel stays of all time. The staff was more than helpful and kind. The breakfast options were different every day so you don’t get tired of the same thing. The room was clean and the bed comfy. I’ll be staying here when I come through again.

This was a great stay, start to finish. Customer service was exceptional. Jennifer was especially helpful. This will be where I stay next year as well!

Comfortable stop on a road trip.

The first room we checked faced a literal wall. No view, just vinyl siding. The AC was muggy. Being we didn't think we'd be in the room enough, we let those slide until, we pulled the sofabed out. The mattress was not encased and instead had a torn and ripped thin cover with over stretched corner elastics that was barely hiding the most disgusting mattress I've ever seen. Blood and covered in stains.
The front desk was great and promptly moved our room. The second room was better, however, neither mattress were encased. The main bed had stains but with a stretch cover, not encased. The sofabed had some staining, but not anything like the prior room. The room was spacious, however, the smell when you walked in the door was awful! It smacked you in the face. Once in,we went nose blind. The AC was nice and cold and not muggy. The lighting in both rooms was so bad, you could barely see to cook. I think they use 25w bulbs intentionally.
The hotel building we were in smelled terrible. Not food smells, it was lack of cleaning. The carpets need shampooing and an ozone needs to be run. The pool was cloudy with hair and debris. A chair in the dining area was flithy. I was stared down and reprimanded by breakfast staff for not having my party with me when I gathered breakfast to take back to my room. Breakfast is limited to 6am-8:30am. Hotel has strictly enforced quiet time 10pm-8am.
Plenty of parking. Desk staff friendly. Convenient to freeway and food.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. Tammi was amazing. The house keeping staff is rop notch. The rooms are dated and need to renovated but it's clean and comfortable.

We needed a suite with two bedrooms and this looked great from the photos. There was a musky smell as soon as we walked in. The room looked dated and the carpet probably needed to be replaced. We found some missed trash, and the pull-out sofa that my son was going to sleep on had something all over it. They quickly went out of their way to correct the issue and were very helpful when we needed it. There just didn’t seem to be a lot of attention to detail or pride in keeping up the space. Some paint was chipping off the tubs, and we seemed to sneeze the entire time we were there… Although the amenities weren't the best, the room functioned as we needed it to for the period of time we needed it to.

Great staff. Very helpful. Clean and nice room
1.5
Tammi at the front desk is really welcoming and hospitable. The rooms are clean but there are a number of issues.
1.) The carpets in the corridors smell pretty terrible. A combination of them being moldy and people having smoked in the corridors. In the Birmingham heat this smell immediately hits you when you walk into the corridors.
2.) The plates, glasses in the room are not well washed and feel sticky and dirty. The coffee pot in the room is the same.
3.) The mattress needs to be replaced as its caving in.
4.) The breakfast hours are ridiculously restrictive. 6 AM to 8:30 AM is just too early and short.
5.) The towels are thin and the bath towels are really small.
6.) The elevator was very dirty with the floor seeming cracked.
7.) They don't provide housekeeping every day. I stayed 4 nights and no housekeeping was provided. A practice that was started during COVID has become an excuse for management to simply not provide the service.
8.) The fire alarm goes off if you have a hot shower and leave the bathroom door slightly open.

Candy at the front desk was very polite, friendly and professional. The room was clean and trust me, I inspect everything in a room to make sure it is clean. The bed was comfortable. I was impressed with the breakfast selections which included Individually wrapped breakfast sandwiches which was convenient for me since I needed to take my breakfast with me. I would definitely stay here again.
