The check-in receptionist was rather unfriendly and went through the check -in process as if we an unwelcome distraction. I speak fluent English and French, but all three of us checking in found the information was mumbled and was almost "going through the motions." Once installed we found the room , hotel, the other staff and especially the breakfast a nice antidote to our first impression.

This hotel is in need of an update. Room was cramped and not comfortable. Sheets and towels were worn, pillows were lumpy. Overall, a threadbare and dreary place.

This hotel is in the most fantastic position in Rouen in the centre of this town In the middle of all the shopping and restaurants the hotel was very pleasant simple clean very friendly English-speaking stuff if you are coming with your own vehicle you must remember to book a parking space in advance to be able to access the Hotel

Wonderful hotel in a wonderful city…

A great hotel that is in a perfect location. Room was very comfortable and bed was fantastic. Staff were super helpful . Car park was essential and hit the spot. Be sure to prebook

An outstanding location, excellent ambiance, and amazingly helpful staff. I highly recommend this hotel! If you are arriving by car, call them and get the specific directions and access code or the pedestrian zone you must transit to reach the hotel. Also reserve a parking spot with them in advance. Parking in the area is very scarce.

Terrific spot! Great location - can walk everywhere. Parking is a bit tricky. Be sure you have reservations and instructions before arrival!

This was a lovely place to stay and an easy walk to the market place, restaurants and shops. It is VERY DIFFICULT to find. There are random signs pointing down streets, but if you can go down the streets (and often you cannot) the hotel is not there. I had my husband pull over and I went for a walk. There are concrete pillars that go up and down for vehicle access to pedestrian only streets, but you need a code. We just parked in the municipal lot at the market and walked from there - it is an easy walk even with luggage. Room was very clean, bed was great. Receptionist was rude when I asked if she spoke English, until I spoke French.

Small room, but comfortable. Great front desk staff. Parking is difficult to find.

I had a lovely one-night stay at the hotel. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the room was comfortable and quiet, and the bathroom was nice. The hotel is well-situated, and made walking to all the cultural activities in Rouen very easy. I didn't have a car, but one is definitely not needed.
4.0
The hotel location could not be better in the old market where Joan of Arc was burned. The staff was excellent and so friendly. The reason for not giving 5 stars comes from the very spotty wifi in our room on 2nd floor and the very average quality of the beds. If they can improve these two aspects, it would become a highly rated hotel.
5.0
Comfortable place to stay in the very heart of the old medieval centre a stones throw from the main tourist street.

Perfectly good hotel apart from breakfast being prohibitively expensive 19 euros!!
5.0
Ideal location to see all of the sites, many restaurants and cafes nearby. Also a quiet location as set back from the road. Would definitely stay here again

Nice hotel and room close to Cathedral and dining options. Parking is a little bit of a problem, if no more spots available in hotel garage.

There was a strong sewer smell coming from bathroom

The hotel is tucked away in a court yard just a stones throw from the main area of restaurants and pubs. No traffic or other noise either due to its setting . Very nice breakfast selection, and friendly and courteous staff. Very pleased with my stay and I will use this hotel again for sure.

The hotel is very comfortable and in a great location, most of the staff were lovely. Breakfast on the first day was much better than the second, where despite there being over an hour left no food was replenished.

The parking garage has an elevator that takes the car down to park. The elevator was very very small and someone had parked at the elevator exit so we could not exit the elevator in our car. This caused us a lot of time and trouble! No warning or instructions given.
When we returned to find our room, it was not in the hotel but through an alcove in the covered brick tunnel at the entrance. It was raining, no one to help us drag bags across cobblestones, up stairs, and and through two security doors to our room.
The room was freezing!! We changed the setting and waited for the room to warm up. There was no telephone in the room to call the front desk and nothing that listed the hotel number. After 30 min I went outdoors to the front desk and reported that our room had no heat even after setting the thermostat. The person at the front desk turned around and pressed some switches behind him. “Now your heat is turned on” No apology or explanation. When I asked about a way to contact the front desk (so didn’t have to go outside in the rain again) the person asked someone else who then asked a third person. This woman wrote a number on a post it note and said “here.” That’s it. Other guests in the lobby were astounded at the rudeness I received.
We did get heat after that. Overall a very frustrating experience. The person who checked us in could have suggested we leave our bags with the lobby. No. They let us drag them down to parking and back up in the rain. No one cared.

Staff and location fine. Serious issues with housekeeping as they didn’t once clean or empty the bin in our room during our three night stay. Lifts slow and very dirty for days. Just making bed and new towels. Disappointed.

Despite being in the centre of the town, the hotel was in a quiet location and beautifully furnished. The breakfast was superb and should not be missed. The staff were charming and helpful.

I had an excellent stay at l’hôtel Littéraire Gustave Flaubert in Rouen -we even extended it by several extra days! The location is central, with a great downtown feel and easy access to coffee shops, museums, and monuments.
The room was comfortable, with plenty of power outlets and good lighting. The hotel’s literary vibe, with books and reading zones, was incredible. Breakfast was great, with ample options including eggs, bakery items, cereal, jams, and beverages. However, we only had it once since we preferred exploring nearby dining options. The room was clean, with comfortable linens and pillows. The air conditioning was effective and easy to adjust. The bathroom had enough space, and the shower always provided hot water. The cleaning staff was outstanding.
The front desk staff were formidable. Estelle, Mathieu, and Louise were particularly AMAZING! – friendly, courteous, and exceptionally helpful. They made every interaction delightful and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. They also entertained my desire to communicate in French.
The fitness room was incredible, with a dedicated air conditioning system and top-end gear including a rower, bicycle, and Rogue lifting equipment. I had a couple of great training sessions there.
For longer stays, I suggest upgrading to a bigger room with a coffee maker, fridge, and maybe a terrace. Next time I visit Rouen, I will definitely stay here.

It's a wonderful hotel, great breakfast, and perfect location.
We never bothered turning on the TV because there was so much to read. It really puts you in the mood of discovering Flaubert.

We asked for the view but received a room at the bottom floor which has nothing like what was on the picture. The sheets and towels were not changed, garbage not thrown out and toilet filthy. There was no specific guidance about how to bring the car to the entrance so we spent a lot of time going around and around the town and did not know how to open the passage road to the hotel.

Great service, friendly staff, excellent value and location.

We now know you have to pre book parking…and it is very difficult to get into..however there is a good car park in the nearby square which is simpler to get into and cheaper( hotel also gets you a discount). Simple breakfast at 19 euro seems expensive.. BUT location is excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly.

Really lovely hotel in the very heart of Rouen. We needed parking and that was quite the unexpected adventure as the hotel is in the pedestrian zone, so we needed a special code to drive to the hotel. Then the car takes an elevator down into the garage. You must call ahead to reserve parking as it is very limited in the garage. We were placed in a room in the outside smaller building but it was charming and with a terrace and a few steps up ( no elevator if you carry luggage) Location is a dream. Toilet is in a separate space from rest of the bathroom on the entry. Seems a common setup in several older hotel buildings around Normandy. The bathroom and all the rest of hotel were modernized.

It took me awhile to find the hotel entrance as the sign is the same color of gray as the stone entrance. And, my roller bag made quite a racket bouncing over the cobblestones. Inside the courtyard I found a peaceful terrace and views of half-timbered houses, a lovely entry for sipping coffee or a beer. I had one of the cheapest rooms and it was perfect for one. Very comfortable bed, windows that opened, and a spotless bathroom. While relatively small, it was private and quiet. I made use of the gym every day for yoga and enjoyed reading my book under the shadow of Flaubert’s statue in the evenings. I ate one breakfast on site and it was adequate. I just have different eating habits. Overall, an excellent value.

Lovely room, comfortable beds, welcoming staff and the hotel is in a great area. Very quiet which suited us since there are café bars just a few minutes away on the square for a drink.
