Ok, we travel a lot! The renaissance hotel in Pittsburgh was absolutely amazing because of TANESHA! Parking is great in a garage directly across the street. We were going to a show at the benedum theater. The hotel was a block away. There was so much to do within walking distance. Market square was fun! All the coffee places, convenient stores and MANY fabulous restaurants are all within a block! The Clemente bridge was across the street which was a great place to walk and enjoy the sights of the city! Safety was felt at all times of the day and night. The room was so clean, quiet and comfortable. The restaurant on the property had the best food, French onion soup was beyond delicious! But back to Tanesha! Checking in,EARLY, she ask why we were in town. It was my birthday. And she made it the best I ever had! She upgraded us to a club floor which included hors d’oeuvres and breakfast. Once on the 14th floor we were greeted by another gem, Judy! She had the energy and zeal to make everyone feel valued and seen! Tanesha continue to talk to us and recommend things to do each time we were in the lobby. First time staying in Pittsburgh but it won’t be the last with a staff like the renaissance has the privilege to have! Thank you!

Overall experience was pleasant. Staff were friendly and the view from the room was amazing. The condition of the room; however, was poor compared to the cost of the stay. There were countless issues with damaged walls, doors, door frames, etc. that could have easily been fixed. The closet door rattled loudly every time the heat turned on, waking us up countless times throughout the night. Our biggest concern was that there was mold in the shower! These countless small maintenance problems point to a lack of care by hotel management, as they are all things that could have been addressed prior to our stay. While we did enjoy our stay overall, we are incredibly disappointed in the lack of care and maintenance in such a beautiful historic building. It certainly did not meet our expectations of the Renaissance or of any Marriott hotel.

We had an incredible view from our 10 th floor room of all the bridges. Room was a bit cold and it would have been nice if we were provided with some kind of map of the city to help us get around. Front desk folks were wonderful.

The Hotel is a bit Dated, the Lobby smells like wet carpet and wet dog. and the Elevators smell bad. The Reception area tucked away and not appealing. Was not happy with the discrepancy in nightly pricing during my 5 night stay one night in the 180s another night is almost 360...this is the first time I really checked my rates and it was surprisingly alarming and disappointing. Why use Hotel.com? easier I just call the Hotel. Finally you have to request your room refreshed and Vacuumed which are two different services. Carpets in rooms need to be changed.

Upon check in, we were informed that our reserved room was not available. We were downgraded from a king size to 2 queens “At no extra charge”. The bed was so uncomfortable; it literally had dips in it. We were offered 2 free breakfast coupons, for our inconvenience. We already had plans for brunch, so they were of no use to us. At check out, no explanation could be provided for how we had a confirmed reservation, but it was not honored. We did get $40 off of our bill. But that doesn’t make up for the inconvenience & the back ache from the bed. The room was clean, but beat up; peeling wallpaper in the bathroom. Marriott needs to do better.
