Overall the best part was how quiet it is. Everything is nice and spread out. Rooms could use a bit of updating. But decent. The frustration i had is playing $30.00 a day to park (non-valet) on top of he resort fee. Just felt like an unnecessary money grab.

Room is small, outdated, stained carpet. No fan in the bathroom for after shower/toilet. Door hydraulics off - very difficult to open/close. TV went out 3 times during stay - had to call front desk to fix. In-room coffee pods bad taste and no tea. Daily parking fee of $29 (hidden on hotels.com site way at the bottom). Staff amiable, but in a stepford/fake manner. Very disappointed for the price we paid - don't recommend this resort.

Nestled under the landing path for the Lihue airport two miles away rests the faded Outrigger KBR. Upon entering the updated lobby we were greeted by the sounds of the lounge singer who was trying to make up in volume what she lacked in talent, making any time spent in the lounge painful on multiple levels. When we entered our musty room we were faced with a leaking toilet in an otherwise standard but clean room. When we asked the staff to put us in another room (no maintenance was available at night) they quickly responded and placed us in the room immediately across from the loud ice machine and next to the elevator both despite explicit requests not to do so. If you are beach fans you may want to focus on the wonderful beaches elsewhere on the island as the beach in front of the Outrigger is quite small and covered with debris. The pools are lovely, but the staff does warn you to wear shoes to avoid the droppings of the numerous chickens on the property. Overall, the Outrigger is nice enough with a friendly staff that tries to overcome a resort which has seen better days.

Not worth it for the price we paid. Everything was good but I wouldn’t say great or excellent - just good. I would only come back to this resort if they significantly reduced what they charge. The added parking and resort fees were super annoying too, but I realize that most places charge these added costs (even though we didn’t use any of the resort amenities, we still got charged). The room was ok, but the lamp shade looked pretty beat up, and some of the paint and trim could use a refresh. The gift shop / coffee shop (which also sells simple breakfast sandwiches, snacks, and over the counter medications, sunblock, etc) was shockingly, jaw-droppingly expensive. $6.50 for a small orange juice. $9 for ONE SINGLE DOSE of cold medicine. $18 for a breakfast bagel. It was absolutely ridiculous, and frankly, disgusted me. We made sure to eat outside of the resort and shop at the local Walmart for snacks, sunblocks, and medications. Just overall not super impressed, sorry 😞

We liked the Outrigger, just not super happy with something that happened to us, meaning an alarm system went off all night on our first night there and the staff was a bit nonchalant about it and just offering a free breakfast for the inconvenience. We literally didn’t sleep at all the first night at the resort. The facilities in general are passable, the staff not terribly friendly, I suppose that the Hawaiian way..

The pools, grounds, and restaurant were great. The room was below standard. The sink took forever to drain, the tub drain had hair in it, the bed was aweful. The latch on the door broke off on our last day there. The showers in the spa had mild on the grout and growing in the body wash bottle. The room itself was very bland and generic.

Very close to the airport and convenient location. Beach in front of the hotel was rough and not swimmable but pretty to look at and walk along. Resort needs maintenance! There were water leaks, screens needed replacement, some doors weren't working. Staff was very helpful and changed our room after the first night because the bed was horrible, the water in the shower was hot and cold randomly with low flow, the safe did not work, and it smelled musty.

Thanks you so much for wonderful stay and letting us stay longer due to late flight home. I appreciate the front desk staff and housekeeping for all their hardwork. Just hoping parking would be free for all hotel guest. Otherwise we like to stay here again if parking would be free.

My mom and I loved the quiet, relaxed, easy-going atmosphere. No stress how to dress, no judgement from other guests. If you're looking for a Miami-life vibe, you're in the wrong place. If you like being away from busy life and just hanging out, this is a good base from where it's convenient to explore the whole island. The option of included breakfast worked for us very well.

This was a great, central home base for a week of adventure on Kauai. The only disappointment was the extensive work they were doing on the roof right above our room for most of the stay.

The property was adequate but not the vacation destination we’d dreamed of. It definitely needs refreshing and updating. My husband and son had extreme symptoms of food poisoning after dining in the premier restaurant. I was disheartened the resort didn’t do anything in the way of refunding the meal or other amends. The location is great and we appreciated the proximity to the airport, Lihue, and Kappa’a. We very much enjoyed beach combing and playing in the waves in front of the resort. The staff was welcoming, kind, and helpful (with the exception of making amends for the dining experience).

The Kauai Beach Resort was perfect for our honeymoon. We really enjoyed the pools, the hot tubs, the private beach, the restaurant, and the lounge. The happy hour at Shutters with nightly live music is the way to go!

The hotel has very old carpet and rooms. They have not renovated any rooms. Online the hotel is supposed to have 4 pools and 3 restaurants. They have only one pool area and only one restaurant serves breakfast till 11am and only one other restaurant is open at 5pm.

The first room we were in was terrible. Carpet was filthy, broken shower faucet, running toilet. They moved us to a nice room but then we had to move again a few hours later because the owners were coming in to stay. They did wave the parking and hotel amenities fees for our inconvenience. We took the lei class and the lady teaching the class did not bring flowers for the lei. She said she did have time to get them.

Laundry room not functional with credit card payment gizmos not wory, two dryers out of four broken, and the washing powder dispenser broken too...that cannot be an accident or oversight. Then $4 (in quarters) for a 29-minute only program. Rotating lamp switch in my room broken. Guest key not working consistently to go in and out parking lot. Gym is a bit tired, with no mats to be seen. One front desk lady is very nice, but other staff seem unengaged. Food is expensive, like everywhere in Hawaii, and unremarkable, esp. if you look for healthy choices. Rooms themselves are good and beach access too, but experience not worth $500 per night in my opinion.

This is an old hotel that badly needs restoration. The updated lobby is beautiful, but the rooms and pool are greatly lacking. Rusted out door frames, torn shower curtain, worn out Chaise lounge chairs, unstable handrailing into the spa, double beds instead of queen size are just a few of the many reasons we were ready to leave and go home. For $500/night I would expect better. In the future, I will book more recognized hotel brands.

The property was clean. Breakfast was great. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy the view. The beds were very uncomfortable though. My family stayed at the Outrigger for 6 nights and by the 3rd night our backs were hurting and we didn't feel rested. Overall we had a great experience.
