Generally all okay good location, friendly staff but few things were annoying: bed little uncomfy, breakfast scramble eggs and bacon were cold, and room was quite cold.

Functionally good and well located.

It was a perfect stay. The location was ideal. Staff was professional and friendly

The staff was not completely customer service excellent however it was a beautiful hotel
5.0
Excellent service! Room was super tidy and the breakfast provided was very good!

Not quiet- there's activity until 1 am every night. It would have been nice to know that the floors are not level but slope down in this old building. The left side of my bed was 5-10 degrees higher than the right. I would slide down if i wasn't situated correctly.

Absolutely fabulous stay! Highly recommend....Love love love this place! A thousand stars!

excellent location , Wolfgang was the best receptionist we have ever experienced
4.0
This is a wonderful, beautiful, historic building. As a result. It is old even though updated. My room was beautiful, but the floor was very crooked! Getting to my bed was like walking up a hill. Also, there was not an elevator, so be prepared to go up some stairs (help with my luggage was offered!). Even so, i loved the vibe and the hotel was great!
3.0
Location good, breakfast good selection. Our room was poor, it was a Standard room but the windows were opaque because they opened out under the external stairway to the top floor restaurant. As a consequence, we could hear every conversation of guests leaving the restaurant until the restaurant closed. Disappointing.

Very central, slightly quirky, excellent breakfast, helpful staff

I stayed four nights. Had dinner one night in the rooftop restaurant. The hotel was very affordable. While there is an elevator, there are about 8 steps to reception and also down to the breakfast room. So I would not call this property accessible. I made a rookie mistake and gave the front desk a bag of laundry - maybe half a load in a US washer. $80! I found this to be outrageous. My fault for not checking. Lev at the front desk is very nice and helpful. I was still recovering from laundry sticker shock and forgot to tip him as I left. The cathedral is right by the hotel which is why I selected it. Lots of restaurants about but not many shops. There is a rimi express mini mart close by

Excellent location and very friendly staff. Special shoutout to Levs at the reception desk who was very friendly and helpful.

Beware when booking!
Two sections to hotel the “Old section” and the Classic part. We were in room 309, we were told this is the old section.
Floor is on a 5 to 10 degree slope. You sleep on an angle!
Very little light including only a small window for natural light and fresh air.
Weak internet in the room. The ended up putting a Modem in our room.
No air-conditioning
No frig
Safe not bolted down.

The room itself was charming, I liked it a lot. There was no AC, but it was cool enough w the window open. WiFi was not the best in the room itself, but it sufficed. The bathroom smelled horribly like mildew, and the towels were super thin. Otherwise, I would say it was a good stay.

This is more of your traditional hotel with characterful rooms and a more personable service. The décor is a bit dated and the building is a bit wonky but that adds to the charm.

Service was friendly. Good location, good breakfast. Some of details in our room were a bit impractical. Soap dispenser was in an awkward location. Light switches had a weird logic. Room looked nice and our double bed was spacious.

Stay was good. the lady who checked me in wasn't too warm at first. maybe it was her facial expression.
the room and bathroom were very spacious for a single room.
on the 2nd day there was a power failure in my bedroom, from 3 am.
the guy who checked me out was extremely polite and pleasant and helpful.
location of this hotel is excellent, right next to Riga Cathedral

Booked a seemingly romantic hotel/room. Ordered pick up at airport, flowers in the room and fruits....nothing. Floor in the room were so cropked that there were no doubt in the morning about what side of the bed you would end up. Toilet....ended up using the garbage bin as a bucket snd filled it up to be able to flush down. Room....lights that were not working on arrival still wasn't working on departure 3 days later. Bulbs or wiring? Cleaning kept to a minimum. Seemingly nice restaurant, however no onecwarned us on arrival thatvwe should book a table immediately. Tried a day in advance, all full. Fortcomming portier, thanks. Without him....Thank you, but no thanks. Fort

Overall nice hotel with good breakfast. Our room was a bit special. Bathroom smelled really bad/mold.

Old town, nice place to walk. Many nice restaurants and bars.

Great location and very friendly staff. The hotel is in an old building, hence if you are for a taste of old times, a little akward layouts, sometimes slightly slanted or screeching floors you wont be disappointed. BTW it was my second time staying there.
5.0
Phenomenal welcoming by the he reception staff. Lev was awesome.
2.5
Lovely hotel with fabulous service. The receptionist was particularly service-focussed. High ceilings made the room feel very spacious and triple glazing cut out the noise 100%. Great location in the heart of the old town. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety.
5.0
Very cool and unique boutique hotel and locally owned! Ask Lev to tell the history of the building and the Gutenbergs family (still owners). Within minutes walking of old downtown square and a multitude of shops, restaurants, and nights clubs.
2.5
Good central location, historical building with character, quiet at night. Good choice!

Perfect location and most helpful staff at reception. Lovely dinner at restaurant with fabulous views . Great breakfast.
2.5
The receptionist was just wonderful! Helpful, friendly, informative, everything you can imagine. He really was the soul of the hotel.
The room was interesting , bed was good. The breakfast was tasty , and the young girls really took good care.
This experience made us want to come back!

I would definitely stay here again. The service was completely outstanding. I felt like a made a lifetime friend with Levs. At first he seemed too good to be sincere but I learned he was absolutely top notch and went beyond any service I had encountered before. (I am an old woman so there was no reason he was doing this except being caring and excellent.)
He directed me to great non-tourist happenings, looked out for a cancellation of dinner reservations at the rooftop restaurant that was otherwise always fully booked, and researched the background for something that was a concern to me.

Our stay at this property was really enjoyable. The concierge was 24/7 (I believe this is a summer thing and it is 8am-10pm otherwise - still quite good) and it was extremely convenient to come and go. Breakfast service from 8am-11am had a great selection, and being open for 3 hours gave us a ton of flexibility. We really liked this location right off one of the big squares, but a couple blocks over from the main tourist action (so much quieter than that side I imagine). Turning away from the square provided a quick shortcut to the riverside that made getting to public transportation super easy. Levs at the concierge was amazing. His personal touch was great - he knew who we were, greeted us every time we came, had lots of good stories about things going on locally, and just made us feel very welcome. There is a reason half these reviews mention him!

What a find. Faultless service. Levs is a joy to meet. Nothing is too much trouble and he took me on as his own personal project to try and trace my ancestors. He is a true asset to a wonderful authentic hotel.

Excellent staff, great location etc.

Inside the nicest area of Riga with charms of old Riga

Overall it was ok. More of a 3 star hotel tho. A bit dated.

Excellent location. The room was OK, not much that that. It wasn’t clean enough…
Breakfast was good but started at 8:00AM, some days we needed earlier…
2.5
Very good hotel. Location very good. Service excellent. The breakfast was tasty but could have been a little more extensive .
Don’t miss to have a dinner on the 5th floor (reserve table in advance ).
2.5
Just want to say that I have never before (have stayed at 500+ hotels) experienced a more service minded and welcoming receptionist. It was a true please and a sort of highlight of the stay. Hotel was genuine with nice and clean rooms. Breakfast had everything you can ask for.

Levs is the best receptionist I have even seen. Professional, extremely polite, knowledgeable and he is ready to help with every little need. He is a star in this place. Will be definitely back again in this hotel. Brilliant stay!
2.5
The young man in the reception was fantastic. What a service. The hotel is well placed in the old town, in walking distance to almost everything.
But the receptionist made my week/month with a brilliant entusiasme. Thank you!
