We stayed at Van der Valk Hotel for our vacation in The Netherland. The hotel is a kind of luxury and business hotel. Check in was smooth and all employee and staff are helpful and polite. The restaurant is also amazing for both breakfast and dinner. Their croissant is the best I have ever had :) Our room is so spacious with nice bathtub :) Parking is ample. Very strategic location as well.

Top shelf hotel with excellent spa…. which included sauna, steam room and relaxation room. Gym was average Truly a treat! The food and staff were higher end! Two bus transit stations are 4-8 minute walks.

The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the shops which mainly open late mornings on Sunday and Mondays. The room and bed were very comfortable with a contemporary feel and a mini fridge which was empty so we stocked with our own drinks. The room was quiet and the corridors softly lit with a relaxed atmosphere and we enjoyed a meal in the restaurant on the first night. Overall we had a very pleasant stay in the hotel and the staff we very helpful.

Superb reception staff, but breakfast staff were a bit aloof and grumpy. Room service staff did not carry out two requests correctly. Beds were poorly made up. No female sanitary bags were provided. Breakfasts were well laid out and gave a lot of choice, but cooked items were not hot, and the plates were cold. The hotel itself was a very pleasant place to stay.

We picked this hotel mainly because of its facilities and the convenient parking, it was everything that we had hoped for. The room was good the reception was excellent and the bar and restaurant had good staff. Overall the staff were young but very efficient.

We did an emergency dash to see an elderly relative leaving on Christmas Day evening & driving through the night, to see them on Boxing Day morning, so we were very glad we were allowed to check in a little early after our visit, so we could get some sleep. We were also pleased that the chef prepared us a meal for dinner that we had in the bar, when the hotel was holding a Festive Buffet & a 5 course dinner for 100's of people due to it being Christmas.

The property was new and generally clean but attention to detail is lacking. Wash cloths limited or unavailable even upon request. Tea/coffee/sugar not replenished over a six-day stay. Room not adequately clean, trash not removed, and cleaning items left in the room.

Very Kind Service , Bike Leasing is Perfect and the Location of the Hotel is very close to Haarlems City. When arriving by car there are plenty of spots in Front of the Hotel to park. We will visit the Hotel again for sure.

We stay here a lot as we have elderly family in NL nearby, on our visit this time we thought we'd stop at the van der Valk we had our wedding night in 29yrs ago. So in comparison: the rooms were similar, the other vdV hotel had a better & nicer looking selection of toiletries (now wishing I'd taken more photos) they had an information book on the desk about the hotel in both Dutch & English, & a note pad & pen, Haarlem has neither. I didn't pick up the free magazine at the other hotel as I thought I'd pick it up in Haarlem, except they have completely different magazines. Now as we've stayed at this hotel many times over the last 5yrs, we've noticed many cut backs - you used to have a minibar fridge in the room that you could put food in that we may have bought, to keep it fresh but they have been turned off due to power costs. You used to be able to to watch UK & USA tv channels, not any more, they have cut paying for those. Last year they told us the antenna was being fixed, obviously still waiting. Now to breakfast, this is where Haarlem on balance just won out, they have a greater selection on offer, although I would note that it has gone down over the last few years, you used to Krenten bollen (fruit buns) not now, the jam was in jars, now its now pump action into small dish, there is no cream cheese to go with smoked salmon, juices have also suffered the squeeze of 'cost of living crisis' but still love that I can have a glass of prosecco at breakfast.

The Van der Valk hotel was a great hotel for our family of 5. We stayed in the family suite with 2 bunk beds and 1 King. Very large and very nice. The toilet was separate from the shower / tub abs sinks which was nice and the beds and pillows were very confortable. Probably the nicest beds and pillows we’ve had our entire Europe trip of 5 countries. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is great, but is outside of downtown Haarlem, which is the quaint and lovely part of town. Uber cost me around €10 per trip to get to there (or the main station). It’s a great hotel, but if you’re in Haarlem on tourism, planning on traveling to Amsterdam on a daily basis, it’s not a good option.

The hotel was rated 4 star but it’s not to the quality of four stars hotels. I arrived in the evening at 9pm where they don’t have staff to help with my bags, no housekeeping available I need to go downstairs to pick up any amenities I need. The room was too hot the air condition is damaged. Next day they told me it’s under repair and unfortunately they did not fix it I had to spend my two nights with less sleep upon check out they said the AC system needed lots of work to be done. This was called miss management as it’s summer they should have had better maintenance and they should have inform their guests prior to arrival’s.

Apart from the price sticker shock - yes, it was a busy time dure to tulip season - the hotel is clean and comfortable. However, the more expensive the hotel, the more expensive it becomes... a 13 euro charge for delivering room service, for example (though the food was excellent). It's a 30 minute stroll from the beautiful center of Haarlem with all its history and lively street cafes - about a five-minute Uber trip - and buses are just around the corner (tap in and off with any debit card). Haarlem is a beautiful town!!! Watch out for the low ridge of tiles at the door to the bathroom and loo (ouch, stubbed toe). There is no light switch for the loo - it's operated when you open the door (took me ages to figure it out searching for the switch) - which can be a bit blinding in the night if you are sensitive to light.

Check-in was fine, although I don't recall picking ground floor rooms, when I booked. In our room the desk lamp was loose & in our children's room the detail mirror was leaning against the main mirror & when our daughter touched it, it fell apart. I found the pillows too high & was advised they have no other options.

Great major remodel of the hotel. Feels like it’s brand new. Very thoughtful design and tons of space for a European hotel. Would recommend and stay again in a heart beat.
