Linda and Des were extremely friendly and made us very welcome. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was varied and a good selection on the menu. Situated in a quiet location and close to the village.

It was a lovely place to stay. A Victorian villa which still has many original features, including beautiful stained glass windows.
The room was clean and tidy and the hosts were most hospitable. There were some lovely touches, such as complimentary drinks and snacks.
It was lovely to sit out on the front veranda with a coffee. The rear garden was well tended and the large swimming pool was fantastic.
The only improvements i could suggest are a shower instead of the bath in Room 3 and a washing line in the garden to dry wet swimming kit, but these weren't issues.
We had a warm welcome and the breakfasts were exceptional.

Had an amazing stay! Des and Linda are so nice and welcoming. Breakfast is unreal, loved everything we had on the menu! The location of the hotel to everything is perfect, it’s situated within walking distance of the beach front and old town. Would definitely recommend!!

First impression on arrival was that the property was in need of a tidy up and sprucing up. Broken step on one side was under repair with a cone placed on it. Inside was dark and unwelcoming. Initially no one at reception but owner came downstairs having just seen guests to room.

Linda & Des made us feel very welcome during our 3 night weekend stay.Breakfast was excellent with such a wide variety of choice with cooked or buffet. Room was very spacious with a wonderful view of the sea which was also only a 5 minute walk to get to with a wide choice of bars & restaurants, The Village Inn and The Steamer serve lovely food.The Belmont also has a lovely bar where all drinks are very reasonably priced, a lovely place to finish off your evening with a few nightcaps and a good chat with other guests and of course Linda & Des. Lovely outside pool area, everything you need here.Will definitely be staying here again. Des.....you should have had your Porsche in this picture!!

Comfortable and friendly hotel, in a great location. The building is full of character with some lovely architectural features - loved the floor to ceiling doors in our room. Great breakfast selection (I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict) served by friendly and attentive owners. Good parking, and only a few minutes walk to the town centre, the old village, and the clifftop.

We booked on the understanding from advertising that it was a hotel and restaurant but were disappointed to be told on arrival that the restaurant was not viable and no longer operated. The breakfast was very good - no complaint about that - but whereas we were expecting leisurely evenings in having a nice meal and a drink we were obliged to drive out to find somewhere to eat! The hotel is still referred to as “ hotel and restaurant “ in leaflets in the reception area and on other advertising.

We were made most welcome by Lyn and Des. Nothing was too much bother for them and breakfast is to die for. Our sea view room (14) was all we wanted with a comfy bed and lots of space in the room. Have no hesitation in recommending the Belmont to anyone visiting the Isle of Wight.

This hotel is nicely positioned in Shanklin; close(ish) to the beach, and an easy walk into Shanklin town.
A reasonable sized car park will allow about 12 cars at a pinch so if every room is booked out to people with their own vehicle then you may find yourself parking on the road.
The entrance to the hotel is up a fair few stairs, but there must be access for wheelchairs (although I never saw it) as there was a guest in a wheelchair while we were there. There are also many stairs within the hotel building - but they didn't offer too much of a problem.
I'm not sure about the other rooms, but ours was small... and the shower room was tiny! That said, it was clean and comfortable and, as the accommodation was booked very much last minute, it was OK. In general though, the hotel itself seemed in the need of a little love and attention - décor was old and tired, the garden and pool area needed weeding and cutting back, furniture was a bit battered.
Food wise, breakfast was lovely! Cooked well and as requested, and served hot. They provide fresh fruit, cereal, bread, crumpets, and croissants as well, to which you help yourself (to as much as you want), and there's a toaster that actually works very well! The range of cooked breakfasts is good too. The young woman who served us in the restaurant is friendly, and very efficient.
As far as the hotel management are concerned - chatty and quite friendly, with no complaints about the service.
