Service was poor and room was in need of facelift

Reception can't answer the phone, tried to call multiple times with queries and got hung up on mid call while trying to resolve issues. Very poor customer service, rude and unhelpful

We booked a room there with our 2 children to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had the nice surprise of being upgraded to the Royal Suite which was absolutely fantastic. The staff at reception was extremely nice and helpful, and gave us access to the lounge while our room was getting ready. Breakfast was amalzing too. All in all, a stay that we will remember for a very long time!

My first interaction with a reception staff member, Irene, set a poor first impression of the hotel. I wanted to store my luggage at the hotel and she replied saying they only offer luggage storage for hotel guests - assuming that I wasn't a guest without asking me. Did not bother to ask for my passport to confirm. Other than that, the hotel room was spacious but felt a bit dated for the price we were paying. The combined shower and bathtub was very high which makes it not easy to get out, especially for people with accessibility requirements. Apart from the first interaction, the service overall was decent and the location was convenient.

Unsmiling, cool reception , room not ready at 3.00pm arrival. Room cold and dingy. Daybed/sofa ugly and comfortless. Problem with keys not opening firedoor in corridor and refusing access to Chamber Club for breakfast. Mistake in evening booking for drinks. I was very disappointed, it was not a five star experience.

The Renaissance Hotel is for some mysterious reason categorised as a 5-star hotel for reasons beyond me. Yes, it has a grand building and absolutely lovely decor, however, the rooms are simply below par. The room is giving old. One of the lamps’ fabric was torn, tables and wooden ornaments scratched and a pesky hair on the bed. Just not overall in good condition. You will pay for great location and nice staff, but the room itself is really more like a 3-star.

The St. Pancras was a wonderful place to experience London. A beautiful place from first glimpse to our final check out. Thank you for a delightful experience. We will be back.

Lovely hotel , room very comfortable , great breakfast

I do love this hotel - beautiful building, reception team are so helpful and everyone is so friendly.
We stayed in a Chambers suite, which just made our weekend. The only downside is I am intolerant to oranges and although the toiletries were taken out of our room (had mandarin in ingredients) they sadly refilled the bathroom on our second day. Also never offered any different bathroom amenities! Which they have before. Just a small error but this could have been a nightmare!
2.5
Very convenient when travelling on Eurostar.

Great Hotel and great location. Beautiful heritage and architecture. I would have given this review a 5 star but I only have one complaints - there was a bad smell to all the towels and hallways. Unusual but I am curious if someone else felt the same.

The Marriot is built into a refurbished railway station, still active, and uses the historical facilities of the station as part of its public spaces. The staff were outstanding. The facilities were excellent. Although the rooms appeared of recent construction, our room was spacious with plenty of room for a king bed, chaise long and large table. The bathroom was well equipped. The major advantages were access to the trains (including the Eurostar to Paris) and a majore shopping and dining area in the station concourse.

Had a unsatisfactory stay at the property in July. Thought I would give it a second chance as we were back in London with work.
It will not be getting a third chance.
Pictures on expedia's website do not match the rooms. Absolutely tiny bathroom which needed renovation.
Front desk managed to lose our luggage almost making us miss our train.
It's an OK hotel but the service does not match the cost.

Staff were welcoming and accommodating.

Beautiful exterior and common areas. Staff is excellent- responsive, polite, kind and very helpful. The dining areas, bar and entry area as well as exterior are very grand and inviting. Rooms are adequate but a bit tired and worn with stained carpeting. Location could not be better - especially for train travel!
2.5
We loved our stay. We chose a quiet room over a view room. Our room was very quiet and the bed was comfortable. The Booking Room bar and restaurant is one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen. The colors and lighting were so pretty! We picked this hotel for its close proximity to the St. Pancras train station for our trip London to Paris by rail. Fantastic choice! You walk right out of the hotel and into the station. Highly recommend!

Fabulous hotel in unbeatable location!

Just a beautiful property. The bathrooms need updating with walk in showers but I did appreciate that you had something for my 83 yr old Mom to hang onto. The breakfast was exceptional!
1.5
Good building but I should say decent or let’s say averaged derive.

The service was par excellence! The staff were so helpful and even remembered my name a day later. I've never experienced such a high level of service.
4.0
Amazing historic building and lovely atmosphere for dinner/drinks at the Booking Office. Staff courteous and helpful. Very easy access to St Pancras International. The only reason the hotel gets four stars from us is the wall view from the room and what we felt was not a sufficiently comfortable bed (mattress seemed extremely firm).
2.5
Very comfortable stay in this grand old hotel. Spacious suite and perfect location for our Eurostar journey to Paris from the adjacent train station. I wish I had known about the suite-to-seat expedited check-in service that the hotel and Eurostar coordinate, but you had to let the hotel know 72 hours in advance. It would have saved us a lot of queueing! Excellent breakfast.

We just expected more from this high-end hotel. It was a relatively clean room. We felt safe in our room and at the hotel. The hotel is close to the tube and train station.
You are also close to the trendy Coals-Drop-Yard.
However, our room wasn't available until 8pm. Although they did give us access to the club lounge. The food was cleaned up for the evening, so our children were very hungry, because we didn't expect not being checked in for 90 min after we arrived. We didn't receive housekeeping until the end of our fourth day. We had to keep asking for towels and toilet paper. Then directly asked to have our room cleaned on the fourth morning it wasn't done when we came back in the afternoon. Having to ask again when we went to dinner, it was then that is was finally cleaned and refreshed. Then the hours kids are allowed in the pool, were extremely limiting. Making my kids say this place hates kids. Like I said we just expected more from this high-end of a hotel.

BEAUTIFUL hotel. Really grand with the historical architecture. Gorgeous. Room was nice, as was bathroom. Can't beat the walkability of the area and the metro right on the corner.

This is a top-notch hotel in every way. The beautiful grand foyer is really quite an eyeful and very inviting. I was especially impressed by the friendliness of the staff and how remarkably helpful everyone they all were. You'll be hard pressed to find a hotel better than this one.

The most disappointing experience in this hotel. Horrific service!

Terrible service, huge disappointment overall.

Chose this hotel for some wow factor and prestige, which delivered on the exterior, check-in area / conservatory and booking office. Our room

Check-in was a nightmare. Room wasn't ready. We were moved to a different room which wasn't suitable. Had to make numerous visits to the front desk. One 'gentleman' was incredibly unhelpful and awkward.
They actually gave us a bottle of sparkling wine as an apology and then took it away when we left the room briefly.
Pictures on Expedia's website do not match the actual suite I booked.
Bathroom was tiny.
I'd actually dispute it was a 'suite.' Basically a slightly larger room.
Chambers Club was OK although the food offerings were pretty limited.
Extremely expensive for the room provided. Could have stayed at The Dorchester for less money.

I had a huge spacious and very expensive room. In London what you pay for is space and that's something I like.

The sleazy way the front desk staff gets you signed up for their Bonvoy membership should be investigated. My wife was with me and she expressed ZERO written or verbal consent and yet she was signed up for their Bonvoy membership. Will try to avoid Marriot properties from now on.

The hotel seems to be quite outdated without much modern renovations. Nevertheless it is ok for a quick stay near the main train station hub.
3.0
For the price tag and its reputation, I expected this hotel to provide exceptional service. It was lack luster at best. It started immediately at check-in. The receptionist handed Me the key to the room without sharing where anything was. This hotel is massage and I had to ask where the elevators were and where I could find the amenities. I would say this should be basic customer service. I ordered room service (a sandwich, etc) and was told to call to let them know that I was finished with my tray. I ate half of my sandwich and decided to eat the remainder later that evening. I left the room for a little bit, but upon my return, my food was gone. I had not asked them to remove my food. Upon my return to the states, I see some additional pending charges on my account that were not in my bill when I checked out. I expect for this to be an issue that I will need to address soon. I am so disappointed by the service at this hotel. Although historic and beautiful, I am hard pressed to recommend it to anyone.

Lovely building but rooms overpriced

Fantastic, iconic hotel in a great location. Epic size and stature, amazing reception and bar architecture.
Lovely staff and vibrant atmosphere. Restaurant food was delicious, although continental and cooked breakfast was disappointing given the quality of food at restaurant the previous night.
Definitely stay at hotel again, maybe have breakfast elsewhere
5.0
It’s connected to Kings Cross. Very convenient for connecting travel.
2.0
Good stay in general. Staff and bar ambiance the highlights. The rooms are comfortable but prob on par with a Hilton. At £450 for a Saturday stay this isn’t best value for money in area
2.5
Amazing room . Supposed to have a premium stay I think the hotel don’t have enough staff and service levels have dropped measurably. Breakfast was poor
1.0
The location was good (close to the tube and the train) and the lobby was good. I guess we got put in an old room - not sure if that is because we booked through Hotels.com rather than directly. The room was VERY basic. There was only one bath towel in the room when we arrived. We did not spend a lot of time in the room as we checked in quickly and immediately went out returning at 11 pm. We tried to ignore the foul smell eminenting from the bathroom (that we had not used yet). Ultimately the smell was so foul we had to call to the night manager at 4 am to put us in a different room. We had to catch a 9am train so that did not allow for much rest. Had we been given the new room first this review would be very different. This was not a basic hotel and although I don’t remember the room rate on this hotel off the top of my head it was well over £400. Very disappointed.
