Nice pub, great food, especially the vegan fish and chips. The room are really nicely furnished and comfortable. The downside for me was that you can clearly hear the people in the next room which kept me awake until 1am and again at 5am, this is not great when you have business meetings the following day, they really need to do something about the sound insulation. I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here again.

Superb stay, loved every minute. All staff were very welcoming and helped my elderly mum. Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone I know traveling that way.

It was good but the food at dinner was disappointing. It was so refined to the point that it lacked any flavour. Plus we think it was expensive. We would stay again but not eat there. It’s in a great location.

If you are going to stay here please don’t be fooled by photos of the room you think you are booking. The photos for ’Room 1’ show a room with double aspect windows, that is most definitely not the case, I’m not sure which room it is of but it certainly isn’t Room 1 (or Room 2) The room details say that it has a King Size bed, this also is untrue, it is only a double. There is also an ever pervasive smell of sewage in the bathroom which, as you may imagine, did little to enhance the enjoyment of our stay. When we discovered the issue with the room, the member of staff who checked us in said that the manager would speak to us in the morning. That did not happen. The hotel has refused to communicate with Expedia, who we booked with, but have had the audacity to ask me for a review, so here it is - TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, DO NOT BOOK Having said that, the staff that we encountered were lovely.

When we stayed at The Royal Oak, the pub was unfortunately closed for refurbishment, but we were called beforehand and told about this. The bedrooms are in separate buildings outside and ours was lovely! It was tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean. Dinner was served in the function room. We didn’t have dinner as we were out at a sports event, but if breakfast was anything to go by I’m sure it was good. Breakfast was delicious with a good choice of dishes and large portions. The three members of staff that we met, the man who helped with our TV, the lady who cleaned our room and the lady who worked at breakfast (sorry, no names) were all very friendly and helpful. Thank you all. We will definitely stay again next year!

This was a delightful find. A very different establishment, with cottage like rooms, were tastefully furnished, providing the high level required at an affordable price. The well appointed restaurant offered an eclectic mix of fayre. Well cooked, well presented. Perfect. A great find which I highly recommend.

I was a little disappointed as room felt quite cold, and a little dated. There were radiators but no independent control to switch on. I would have expected better for the price I paid. Especially comparing to other hotels I have stayed. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was lovely.

My ensuite smelled of raw sewage which permeated the whole room. I passed this on to staff twice and nothing was done about it - there were no other rooms to move me to. On check out I asked to see a manager or have some one contact me - nothing done so far. The room should never have been used in this condition. The smell was absolutley disgusting. I have emailed this information and had no reply. It is a real shame as the staff were very friendly - although not surprised when I told them about the smell.

Comfortable, clean and excellent service. We are in the restaurant in the evening and the food was excellent and good value. Bed was comfortable and facilities thoughtfully arranged. A few more hooks (especially in the bathroom) would have been handy. Would recommend.

What a great place to stay! I have stayed here a couple of times recently for business. The rooms are out the back of the main pub part and are like a little row of cottages. Plenty of space inside with comfortable bed, desk and storage and with a large shower in the bathroom. Food is wonderful, a good choice of dishes which are fresh and well cooked. Will definitely stay again.
