Check in was amazing I have to say. Luggage left before check in were moved to the room when we checked in; a service we had not experienced for long time. Breakfast was so so, not much surprise; however, the pancake machine was fun but was slow, coffee was difficult with water and drip bag. One of the best was the happy hour drink and snacks. Special mention: staffs were friendly and made me fell amazing. Location was great and close to the busiest station in Kobe.

Stayed 4 nights with family. Our "comfort double" room was clean and comfortable. With two large suitcases laid flat on the floor, we were still able to move around (that may not be possible in other Japanese hotels, especially in big cities). The hotel was close to train station and tracks but was quiet. We did not try the western style breakfast buffet, as that did not suite our taste. But there were plenty of dining options nearby, and we also picked up fruits and beverage from the supermarket next door a couple of times. In the cafe area, there were some hot and cold beverage available to guests between 10 am and 10 pm. We did laundry once. There were 2 machines on 6th and 9th floors each. A single machine was capable of washing and drying in a 2 hour course, and the recommended maximum load was 3 kg. The course cost 600 yen, with addional drying available for 100 yen per 30 minutes. Being able to paying with IC card (ICOCA, Suica, etc) was convenient. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely consider this hotel if we visit Kobe again.

The hotel is comfortable and nice. The staff are friendly. there is happy hour in the evening with free wine. The only problem is a lack of communal lounge space during the day if you need somewhere to sit, relax, work or wait for friends.

We stayed in the family room, for japan standard the room was quite big. Everything is very clean, the staff is very helpful and they do speak good english. Hotel is 4 min from Sannomiya train station and it is surrounded by restaurants, supermarket,s convenience stores, shops etc

I liked the property very much and I would book it again on my next visit to Kobe. The only issue I had is that i could connect to a wireless carrier to follow the instructions when the link in the confirmation email was clicked. The maps outside the stations do not show the street name asahi. After spending over 30 minutes trying to find in on a map in the subway exit, a japanese woman wanted to help me and she called the hotel, and they provided detailed instructions to guide us to the hotel. instead of providing a link to the hotel, they should provide a detailed steps from leaving the Sannomiya JR station, which is a common arrival point to the Kobe area.

Many thanks to Hotel Villa Fontaine, especially to Takashiba and Nakahara, as they are trying their best to contact us to retrieve our mobile battery pack which we left in our room. They stored it until we come back after our Awaji trip. This kind of service is highly appreciated as they even try to send it back to us by air parcel. Moreover, this hotel is clean and comfortable, located at quiet area but so convinient to mass transports and plenty of eating and shopping areas. We really relax staying there for 4 days in Kobe.

The room was fine, and the facilities were generally up to the Japanese business hotel standard. However, the internet connectivity for the whole hotel (both wifi and wired connections) was out the night we visited. Some old-fashioned charm is fine, but it seems important for a business hotel to have internet access in this day and age.

Hotel is close to Kobe Sannomiya Station. When we arrived at the hotel in the evening, it was happy hours, where drinks, including alcohol, and snacks were available. Front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. One even printed out bus schedule and direction to bus terminal from hotel for me. Room size is small like most rooms in Japan. Room, towels and bedsheets are clean.

It is just several mins walking distance away from the JR station. And there is a Carpark just beside it. No matter you drive or taking public transport, it is also very convenient. There is a fantastic huge chess set beside the restaurant, a nice decoration and it is also playable. I was unlucky that the Wi-Fi was out of service on the first night, and it has been fixed the next day.

Door open and close sounds are not well-proofed. The TV code was not connected. The shower curtain rail is not mounted, looks so cheap. The Bed is the worst quality ever. So thin. I will never use this hotel.
