Brilliant stay and food. We had our dog with us and they could not have been more dog friendly. We had an evening meal and it was excellent, best cheesecake ever!! All staff were friendly and helpful, could not recommend this pub enough.

Lovely old fashioned pub with pretty hanging baskets . Our room was large and nicely furnished . The bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept on and the ensuite had a bath and shower which was fantastic . We couldn't fault the fish and chips that we had in their restaurant and there were 3 choices of real ale on handpump , which made us happy. Breakfast was served between 7.30 and 9.30 and was excellent. The only downside was the road noise in the morning , but we will be happy to return.

I had an overnight stay with my dad. We live a long distance from each other so decided to meet midway. The accommodation and food were excellent and the staff were very friendly and professional. This is a delightful place to stay. I will definitely go again.

The Pub was clean and tidy, the flower display outside was outstanding, a lot of time and effort went into the display all around the pub. The staff were very friendly and watched the football with locals in the dining area they were very very friendly as well. will say here again.10/10

Really enjoyed my nights stay after our day walking The Rutland Round. Everything was what i had hoped for, comfy bed, clean room, good beer and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the Chicken on mash with a leek and stilton sauce and veg.

I stayed here instead of booking into a premium inn in the town and this did not disappoint. It was worth the extra drive just to eat. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was clean and very comfy. The highlight was certainly the breakfast it was delicious and it set me up for the day ahead.

Lovely village pub, unfortunately the restaurant doesn’t open on Mondays which wasn’t mentioned on Expedia when I booked. However pub gave the option of ordering a takeaway which could be eaten in the pub, as it was I drove to nearby Oakham (4 miles) and had a nice meal. Staff all welcoming and enjoyed a nice cooked breakfast in the morning. Room was spacious and bed was comfortable. Only downside was the shower wasn’t great and there was black mould gathering high up near the ceiling above the shower.

Excellent all round. It was very busy while we were there, always a good sign. Staff were very accommodating. The food was very good. We visit the area a number of times a year and this is where we will stay. Good value.

The staff and owner were very pleasant and helpful. V clean. Good shower. The weather was v hot snd there was a Fan in room. Yea making facility. Hair dryer. Good Wi-Fi. We had an excellent meal. Lovely setting. I can’t fault this hotel. I would go again.

Had a 2 night stay in this lovely pub. Our room was clean and warm and had all the usual facilities - tea ,coffee TV and ensuite bathroom. Food (evening meal and breakfast) we're excellent and reasonably priced too. Service was second to none and all staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Its a nice local pub, friendly enough but not massively welcoming. The food is OK and reasonably priced and the breakfast is good, Bedroom was small and a little disappointing and there was a nasty drain smell in the shower room and black mold starting to grow in the corners. It gets great trip advisor reviews but it doesn't fully live up to them and on that basis it disappointed. Certainly a 7 to 8 out of 10 but not 9 plus

We had a one night stay at the White Lion but would happily have stayed longer. Such friendly hosts, very attentive and helpful. Very comfy warm room. Evening meal was amazing! Lovely breakfast too.Plenty of on site parking. Thank you for a very enjoyable overnight stay.

Don't bother booking for a Monday, the restaurant is closed and the bar closes at 9.00pm Otherwise it's a good country pub, decent enough rooms for the price

Great welcome from staff . Lovely clean room , well equipped . Everything you would need is here . As it was Saturday night a disco was in full swing ( or was it a wedding ?) Which was fairly noisy but I think that is probably just because it was Saturday night ? Otherwise the hotel / pub is in a quiet rural attractive village
