Very quiet and super friendly. My dog loved the property and loved walking and exploring. Continental breakfast was just perfect and it had lots of choices. Plenty of activities for adults and kids. Fire pit was fun along with hot tub and playground. Rooms have been updated. Microwave and fridge were convenient.

Had a peaceful stay during the work week. Back deck could use a bit of tlc, otherwise I'll be back.

Not a great stay. Not given the room we booked. Rooms in general were clean and modern, but we were charged $20 for arriving 45 minutes early. No shampoo, soap in room. Breakfast was not great, just packaged muffins and cereal. Staff was not helpful with our concerns and would not refund for the lower cost rooms we got.

We were provided the room 201 and it was fantastic! Tastefully decorated as well as very clean and warm. We went there during the Thanksgiving - off season so there wasn't a ton to do around. We were glad we chose Discovery Lodge as we spent considerable time in the room which is unusual for us.
The room was spacious and the beds (1 queen in main bedroom and 2 twins in the other room) were very comfortable with extra pillows in the closet. Large TVs in both the rooms were fantastic. Bathroom was very clean and had plenty of towels.
Heating worked well making the room cozy.
The room itself is at a corner and at ground level. The property has several buildings and is weirdly laid out. The parking lot could have been cleaner as there was a ton of slush due to the snow it must have got before. This posed some risk, especially because the main door wasn't open so we were forced to walk through the slush/ice.
Morning breakfast was typical - Bread, Butter, Store bought cupcakes and waffles, fruits, yogurt, oatmeal and cereals. Espresso machine was nice.
The support staff could have been more smiling and friendly though they were certainly polite.

It was great, beautiful view, it was a little tricky getting checked in but it was half my fault for not calling and seeing if they closed early

WARNING: The customer service is unforgivably inadequate. I wanted to avoid leaving a bad review and gave the lodge one month to respond to six separate complaints I filed (two in person, two over the phone, and two over email). This was my last resort but let it speak to their lack of commitment to make things right.
We stayed here in late September 2024. The room was adequate, but on our second day, we found a dead, rotting bird under our bed. Upon finding the bird, we disposed of it and kindly asked that the staff clean our room while we were out for the day. When we got back, nothing was touched, no one had cleaned, and we had to sleep with the bugs and smell of decay.
At checkout, the front desk told us the manager would contact us to make things right. After one week, I received no response. I placed two calls requesting they follow up, and got false promises saying they were going to call back later that day. In the following month, I emailed twice requesting a follow up. Nothing.
This is bad service. No other way to say it. Very disappointed. To the lodge: Again, I was hoping to receive a follow up, after which point I would leave a review highlighting the positive impact that communication had on me. One month is plenty of wiggle room, thought I was being fair.

Great location, close to everything. Comfortable, clean room.

Elk love this place, they hang out in the field beyond the pond, the wandered in the evening we arrived, and wandered off the morning we left.

The location and view were fantastic! The property offered many amenities, which was a nice bonus, and the front desk staff were very helpful. I had a just couple of issues: my bathing suit either went missing or was thrown away while drying on the balcony, and the blankets weren't very comfortable. The hot tub could have been cleaner, and the breakfast options were limited (no hot foods), though the hot tub itself was at a great temperature. Overall, the view and location were incredible, the staff was friendly, and the room was very clean. This motel/lodge provides great value for the price, with comfortable pillows and beds. The lake is a pleasant walk away, and the availability of a grill and fire pit was a wonderful touch.

Nice and comfy room with basic breakfast. Good view of the mountains in background. Icing on the cake when elks came by the field / lawn during breakfast

We stayed in the exclusive cabin. We checked in about 430 pm and the house was only 55 degrees. We tried getting the gas fireplace and the the furnace on to heat up the house a little bit. Nothing would turn on. We called the main office and they sent over the maintenance person. He got the fireplace to turn on but not the furnace. After 15 minutes the fire alarms kept going off because the fireplace blower was not blowing out what it needed to. We called back over and they sent the maintenance person over. We had to call another person to translate as he didn’t understand what we were saying. He got the blower to work and then also the furnace for about 5 minutes and then it turned off and wouldn’t turn back on the rest of the night. It was 30 degrees outside. The house also was not clean. I wanted to use one of the fans to try to blow the air from the living room down the hall to the freezing bedrooms but they were so full of dust I didn’t want to chance turning them on. Filthy sponges were left in the kitchen, hair from a previous person shaving in the bathroom sink, nothing was dusted or vacuumed. Also says free breakfast, this consisted only of toast, coffee, yogurt, cereal in the individual packs. Hardly a breakfast especially for those of us who have to be gluten free. Just tell people it’s continental not a full breakfast. Definitely not worth $700 a night!!! Took a $200 cleaning fee to not clean. There was also a busted baby gate just left by the steep stairs.

We love staying here! Great property in a great location. The only downside was that our room was right under the main office so we could here all the noise when people came for breakfast.

Great location. It is Grand Central Station for elk and Canadian Geese. It's an easy walk into town and the River Walk as well as Lake Estes. Staff members were pleasant. The room we were in was basic but entirely adequate and comfortable. Breakfast arrangements are in the reception area that is really too small. Some rooms have been refurbished and others not.

Rooms were cute with a great view of the mountains. Went to bed and woke up to bugling elk. The elk came right up into the lodge. Beautiful! Was not impressed with the check in staff. Check out was great!

The hotel location was fantastic but that’s about it. We got the family suite, but it was a lot smaller than expected, and there was nowhere to sit, no couches or any extra tables in the extra bedroom. They had one small table with two chairs, but they were very uncomfortable. There were five of us so we had to bring our own extra chairs inside. The fridge and bathroom drawers weren’t clean. Looks like it had stuff left over from the people before us. The complementary breakfast was just some bread and fruit and one choice of dry cereal.

This hotel is centrally located on the edge of town. The room was clean and efficient. I would stay in the facility again if I was to travel to Estes Park in the future.

Heat/AC very noisy. Made it very hard to sleep.

Room was clean and in great condition. The pond area was really nice too. My only complaint is the pillows. The bed was comfortable but the pillows should be replaced. A small cost would make a huge difference.

Convenient location. Clean and spacious room. Friendly staffs. Great view. It has a nice jacuzzi. Only con is the breakfast is a little basic.

Rented 2 rooms.
Room 1: bathroom door coming off hinges
Room 2: bathroom door was dragging on the floor and wouldn't close.

The Discovery Lodge is located right by a 9-hole golf course, and apparently the elk love it. We were able to see these beautiful animals without ever leaving the property, which was a highlight of our stay. It’s an easy location from which to get to downtown and to the Rocky Mountains. There’s plenty of parking, but more than once someone had taken the space directly in front of our room—we found this odd as it seems the rooms we used had one space per room right at your door. The room was ver spacious, clean and comfortable. I would suggest bringing your own shampoo/conditioner/body wash unless you want to use the provided single product shampoo-body wash combo. Breakfast was fine—fruits, packaged cereals and muffins, white bread, boiled eggs. It’s a very simple place, but nice enough and convenient for visiting the national park.

I was told there was going to be premium chanels on the tv. There was not. I would have felt better if the carpet was not so old and stained
8.0
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The facility is older and showing wear. The pavement has ruts. The entrance to the facility is easy to miss.

Staff not helpful, argumentative.

Discovery is an exceptional stay. Cleanliness is a top priority.
The Elk during this time of year was truly something to experience. Hearing the bulls bugleing was worth the stay.
We also enjoyed meeting some new people around the well stocked firepit while taking advantage of the gas grill. The lighted gazebo added a nice touch.
Will definitely stay at the Discovery lodge again.
Ps they do have a selection of quick bites for breakfast and an automatic coffee dispenser.

Stay was overall good. Parking is convenient.
We got two keys one of which was for the wrong room - staff was apologetic so no complaints there, though I wouldn't be comfortable if someone else gets the key for my room.
Design details can be improved. Shampoo/body wash was in one dispenser, and it ran out before we finished the two-day stay - didn't bother asking for a refill since we only became aware late at night. Nowhere to hang the bath towels other than over the toilet where you have to fold the towels multiple times and leave it difficult to dry. In-wall tissue box was right under the soap dispenser, so the tissues would be wet everytime you wash your hands.
Elk was screaming overnight. Nothing can be done there so just be aware.

Nice staff, quiet, convenient location. Would stay here again.

Terrible check in. Front desk person did not know anything and he was argumentative. He had difficulty finding my reservation. When he finally did, he said it wasn’t ready. He said it’s not check in time. It was only 10 minutes prior to check in. He tried to send us away and told us to come back later. Then a housekeeper came out of the bathroom. They discussed the issue in front of me, in another language. Then turned to me and said room is ready. He was ready to send me away without asking or checking. Other guests shared similar stories.

Front desk staff was efficient and personable. The room was a comfortable size and had a small refrigerator and coffee maker. It was a short walk to Estes Park Visitor Center which provides a seasonal trolley service to the downtown area as well as to Rocky Mountain National Park.

Location was excellent. Room ok condition. Mattress was well worn and indented from use.

The staff at the hotel was the most unhelpful and unresponsive I’ve ever experienced. The keys to the doors barely worked. The hotel is in need of repair. Several times I had to call the front desk to operate the TV. They offered to clean the room during my stay. Just at the end of the stay. The breakfast is a complete joke.

I had a great stay here. It's very close to the main Estes downtown area and a short drive to RMNP. It's an excellent launch pad for all of your adventures. The linens and towels were clean, staff was very friendly and accommodating. They have a little pond on their property and if you're lucky, you will see some elk grazing in the early mornings or the evenings. If I had one very small critique, the breakfast was very basic. But I usually had breakfast outside anyway so it did not bother me at all. I give this place 4.6/5 stars. I would recommend
