Everyone at the lodge was super friendly and helpful. Was nice to check in and the heater was already on and room was nice and warm. Did not like the noise of people talking late at night, walls are quite thin.

Overall not bad but it was a bit noisy could hear people next-door.

This hotel was better than expected!Very warmth welcome from the staff. The room was very clean, warm and cozy. The hotel has a fun bar/restaurant with a really good vibe. We will happily stay there again.

I love Kings. One of my favourite places in Ohakune. Good accomodation, the spa is awesome after a day on the Hill. Our ensuite shower was a bit cold however, that would be my only issue. Perfect, otherwise!

Staff were great, but don't believe that you will be able to get a proper night's sleep at this place. The walls are so extremely thin that you can hear the next door people chew. The family room is cramped and definitely not enough space for a 4 person family. There was dead cocroaches under the bed and heaps of spiderwebs. The restaurant was fine, except for the body hair in my daughter's food. We won't be going back to Kings Ohakune as it is really not family friendly.

I would recommend this place to anybody that was going to the snow. It's so close and convenient the staff are so helpful the restaurant food is the die for the beds are so comfortable. We had the best experience at this motel which made our trip worth it. Thanks Kings.

Good for what we needed. Basic
The extra hooks for clothing were good, but more hooks or maybe a shelf would be super helpful!

Overall pleasant stay. Great shower pressure and the food in the pub was nice. The apartment we stayed in however could do with a make over- doesn't look like any work had been done on it since the 1980's.
It was a nice surprise to find a drying room for all our snow gear which was great!

Booked accomodation with expedia and it included continental breakfast (four rooms 7 adults) when we got there into very noisy freezing or steaming rooms we were told that there is no breakfast and that it shouldnt be on the website. Was told would check with manager afer photographing my booking sheet. No feedback after that so on the second day went back again and was told you need to take this up with expedia as it is not our fault. No support no compensation no service at all.

Good location but pretty basic (small room). Our room smelt of the kitchen and was a bit noisy from kitchen staff walking behind the building talking. Random bag of linen sitting outside our door for 24hrs. Shower was cold on one of the nights. Staff at reception could have given us a bit more info at check in (eg about the breakfast option). Probably will try somewhere else next time

This property is very very run down. The heater didnt work in our room, the window and shower floor was rotten, the tap was loose on the sink and you couldnt avoid water all over the floor. The rest/ bar floor was sticky, the house which my friends rented was very very in need of major basic maintenance, toilet leaked, guttering had holes causing major noise at night when it rained, microwave didnt work properly, oven needed cleaning, fridge froze everything and was tiny. All in all in major need of repairs everywhere.

Sweeeeet as. Great for the price of accomodation. Tho the bar and food prices are quite high and they had Drink specials for contiki tour guests and not normal guests which felt a bit unfair.

All the staff we met were Awesome - friendly and helpful. :-)The room was a bit cold and the duvets are polyester which make me sweat so the first night was a bit unpleasant. It was all sorted by the staff though once they knew. Great service and atmosphere.Thank you :-)

I didn't realize this before I booked my trip, but King's Ohakune is on the side of town that is extremely quiet this time of year. As in, most businesses completely closed down and hardly anyone in the area. But, it's just a couple blocks from the train station so at least it was easy to find when I got into town. The hotel itself was fine - exactly as pictured, exactly as advertised. I have to mentioned how impressed I was by the hospitality of the staff. It was a quite slow weekend and so I only ever saw three members of staff but they were all excellent. Always friendly, polite, extra accommodating, and making sure I was taken care of with an ease that shows professionalism and true care. The young woman checked me in/out - sorry, I can't remember her name now :( - even gave me a ride into town so I wouldn't have to drag a suitcase 2km to the bus stop. This is the kind of personalized service that is remembered long after many other aspects of the trip. I worked in the luxury hotel business for nearly four years earlier in my career and I would have been happy to see my staff working as well as the staff at King's did. I also want to mention that the housekeeping was absolutely spot on as well. I used two separate rooms during my stay at King's and they were both impeccably clean and well-kept. Again, my experience in the industry tells me that this is far easier said than done and I am very impressed. I'd happily recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Ohakune.

Great Budget hotel with views to Mt Ruapehu. Walking distance to town and walking trails

The rooms seemed designed as minimal accommodation for skiers heading out to the nearby skifield. Heating is by a convector using hot water, with only on and off settings, and was inadequate even for our small room. The shower was hot and powerful though. Breakfast was included, and was good. For dining, there was a "restaurant" serving all kinds of burgers, but it was part of the bar, so the atmosphere was very noisy. Dining somewhere in the other part of Ohakune might have been a better option, with more choice.

A bit old and small, but good value for money, and we were warm, and the complimentary breakfasts were much welcome!

Stayed as listed as one of the places kiwis should experience. Nice cycle trail. Most places were closed, including the reataurant at the property, due to poor summer.
The accomodation was pretty basic, but clean.
It did have two spa pools, but as our room was opposite one, it was quite noisy, due to the spa heater.
Would not fancy a stay in Winter.

We were in town for our honeymoon and stayed here. While it was fine, it was very basic. Liens had some stains on them that were a little gross, but the room was clean.

Basic accomodation in a great location. Positives are great food with big servings and nice bar on site. Close to the action and great access to mountain for skiing and walking. Negative walls were thin, can hear talking from next room. Noticed an extra item on restaurant bill the next day, may have been a genuine mistake.
