You get what you pay for. Rough and ready but hot water, clean sheets and easy walking access to the wonderful city. Not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility issues. Not much English but welcoming. Squeaky beds so not the best for a honeymoon 😂😜

Great value choice. Room was bigger that expected with a full size wardrobe and small desk/stool. We had a private bathroom which included a bidet and shower. Plenty of hot water & good pressure. No hairdryer in the room but we were supplied one on request. Marina at the desk was perfectly pleasant. Amazing location, slightly noisy as we were facing the street but we always bring earplugs anyway!

Cozy and comfortable structure, located in a strategic area in front of the Rectorate of the University of Porto, the Pensão França was really a very pleasant surprise. The friendly and helpful staff, a very high level of cleanliness, the comfort of the beds and the functionality of the bathroom made our stay truly unforgettable. The WI-FI signal is also excellent. A wide selection of restaurants in the area. Really recommendable

What was good: Very central, everything worked well, nice view on the square, clean. What was bad: very loud outside, old furnishing and rooms. All in all a good place to stay if you can sleep in a noisy environment.

The place is older, somewhat tired, and the shower is shared amongst the guests (which is an issue for some). Good location and price. Wifi was good. Must walk up a flight of stairs to get to the hotel.

I would definitely stay here again without hesitation!As a fitness competitor I have a lot of my meal prep with me, they allowed me to use their staff fridge for that! Great little coffee machine in the front entrance along with free umbrellas to borrow if it’s raining!

The place is located at a great location, very close to a lot of the attractions. It's not the luxury type of stay, room is small, smells a bit, could be quite noisy at night because it's right next to Igreja Do Carmo. and lots of skater outside. Host is friendly. Overall I enjoyed my stay as I was looking for a convenient location and the price is good for one person room.

Amazing location, right in the center of the city. Room is basic but comfortable. Toilets are shared. Overall the place is well kept and the staff is nice. Only issue was the WiFi coming-and-going in the early evening - but was fine at other times of the day

It was the perfect choice considering the location, pricing and the + reviews the place got in the past. It was very clean and traditional run hotel. Only issue is if you find climbing the high stairs difficukt, you may be breathless as there is no lift. But you really feel the city vibe and it's like a family home: cozy and low key.

For €15 a night I can't complain too much about the hotel and the room. I had a single room with a sink. The only negative concerning the room was that the ceiling sloped from one end to the other so you could only stand up at one end of it. There was a communal bathroom which was reasonable. The hotel was clean and the hotel staff polite. The wi-fi in the room was OK, good enough to listen to the radio. One negative is the noise which comes from people congregating at Praça dos Leões up until midnight. But other than that no complaints for the price.

Welcoming staff, sweet little attic room, (emphasis on little although for the money it´s good), handy to have a snack machine at reception. Opposite a square which can get a bit noisy on Saturdays but the following day it was fine and I slept well all Sunday night. Everything very clean. Comfy bed and warm room. I would stay here again.

At first I wondered if I got my money's worth with this place but I stayed for three nights for the weekend and it's practical for all the palaces I like to discover on foot! (except Serralves museum for Bus 201 nearby). You may expect what is the Shared bathroom and old deco wooden wall/ tiny room / center noise from your roof top indow during the night what might decrease your expectation, but this is not The Hotel. For indepedant professional travelers only.
