This place is amazing!! It’s a perfect little kitchenette that’s is clean and comfy. The owner is a super nice guy! It seems odd because you have to call to get into the building, almost looks closed. But it is not! I completely recommend this small hotel and will be staying again next time I am in Hamtramck. My room even came with a shoe horn! It’s the little things that makes places like this the best!

Stayed here after a lions game. Great place. These are comfortable, medium to long stay units rented out for competitive nightly rates. The interior is simple, but I was wanting for nothing. We had a queen bed, table with two chairs, kitchenette with full sized fridge, gas 4-burner stove, sink and silverware. Bathroom was well stocked with the standard toiletries and towels. There was no tub, but that wasn’t an issue. I do have to say that Veterans Park Hotel has, by far, the most comfortable pillows I have ever come acroas in a hotel.
Notes: it is listed on the booking page but it looks like some of the other reviewers missed it, the front desk is not staffed 24/7. This makes sense because it does look more like a medium/long stay place. All you have to do is call the owner when you’re about 5 minutes out and he will meet you there. Also of note, there was a $150 deposit/room that was refunded promptly after check out.

My stay on this hotel was wonderful, the owner very understanding as long as you follow rules. Me and my boyfriend stayed for 7 days we had a very relaxing getaway and being the clean freak I am I can assure that this place was impeccable. No dust at all. Perfect hotel for a long stay.

Room was small, but we knew it. Room was too hot, had to open window in November.Walls could have insulation, as could hear neighbor talking & coughing. But for the price, was not dispapointed.

The remodeled building is spotlessly clean! Great use of space in the apartments, which had new bathrooms and kitchen facilities. Located next to a lovely community park, the building felt safe and secure. Hamtramck was an international experience. We enjoyed a Polish dinner and an Yeman breakfast. We saw a play at the Fox, and it was a short Uber ride to the theater. I would definitely stay here again.

Friendly staff, liked the location, clean, kinda small but at same time wasn't expecting much for price
2 things I didn't like easy to miss maybe get bigger sign and parking on the street but was free at least
overall experience was good though

The place is clean and the owner looks after the property. The people in the community have their own patrol protecting the area. We felt very save and walked to the store at 12:30 am by myself with no issues.

Clean and comfortable, simple hotel room close to downtown. It is about a $10 Uber from downtown. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The only problem was the heat was way too hot. I figure it was the first time heat was needed and the thermostat and heater needs to be dialed in. Neighbors were a little louder this visit but not crazily so.

Overall, a great place. Close to downtown, clean, and decent amenities in the room. It's a little hard to find, but it's right next to a park which makes the stay feel more pleasant. Feels very safe and secure. I wish there had been temperature controls in the room though - it got really hot with the fridge running.

The only drawback is the location, is far from the downtown.

If you are in town to see a baseball game or football game, do not stay here. If you are a fan of diverse cultures then youre in the right place though. Safe neighborhood, but not like staying at a regular hotel.

Surprisingly good. At first the area looked sketchy and we wondered what we got ourselves into. Then we took a chance and went in, met the owner and our concerns were addressed and answered to the positive. Eric takes great care with the small smoke-free hotel that looks nondescript on the front but sits next to a cute well kept little park (The Veterans Park, hence the hotel name). The rooms were spotless (much more than in fancier places) and thoughtfully put together, maintained and stocked. He was quickly responsive to the couple of needs we had (lives down the street) and recommended a very friendly ethnic restaurant nearby with good food. Overall, unless you need snooty fancy, and in spite of a location seemingly near a deserted industrial area on one side (other direction is a nice eastern european community area), the area was actually quite safe with a little gem of a value hotel run by a conscientious owner that I hope people will take a chance on. Be adventurous and get a pleasant surprise and very good value.

Had some work downtown Detroit with family and wanted a safe area to stay. Only 10mins to get to downtown from this location. The location area is nice, its right next door to the park and theres a super market right next door as well and some nice Middle Eastern Eateries. Parking is on the street, but good thing is if you park in front of the hotel, there are CC cameras and well lit area for added security. Room and bathroom was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable with plush pillows. The Refrigerator and the gas stove is a plus as well as the microwave. From the outside you cant really tell its a hotel, which is good to give it that low key appearance, but once you inside it looks legit. You wont find a reception desk, but the owner is available 24/7 shall you need him. Lives nearby for assistance. Overall, if I had to stay in Detroit, I would choose this place for its price, convienience and comfort. Family felt safe and finding places to eat is not a problem in this area, some really nice restaurants to choose from.

Veterans Park Hotel is located literally right next to the Veterans Park in Hamtramck, a predominantly Middle Eastern neighborhood with many friendly people. I chose this hotel because I simply needed a place to stay overnight after a concert. It was very clean and seemed like it was recently remodeled. I loved the bathroom design. However, there was a slight problem in that the bathroom door in my room didn't close, but since I was traveling alone, it was no big deal. The wifi was much faster than the average hotel. The owner was very hospitable and helped me walk through the unconventional check-in process over the phone. The little kitchenette was pretty well stocked, but I didn't need to use it at all. All in all, it was a very cost-effective hotel and always felt very safe. I simply took an Uber back from my concert in downtown Detroit and was back within 10 minutes.

I did not spend lots of time in the hotel, but it was comfortable. The bed and pillows were really comfy. The stove, microwave, and fridge were nice to have. The bathroom was a little small. i could hear one neighbor for a short bit, but not very long. There was construction on the road outside. Of note, there is very limited cab service in the area. You need to contact the hotel in advance to arrange getting in as there is no front desk.

This is more of a story than a review but anyway, here goes:
By far the worst "Hotel" I've ever seen. it's a two story building in the middle of a bad neighborhood. When i booked my room i thought it was going to be decent considering i paid around $85 for a night but there were no signs for this hotel anywhere near it. It's also right in front of a dumpster. There's no front desk, so after looking for the hotel for 20 minutes I asked the locals and nobody seemed to know where this so called hotel is located at, until one person who lived across the street from it pointed to the building. I called the owner and he said he'll be there in 10 minutes. after 15 minutes the guy shows up, i tell him that i have to leave since i was late to a show in Joe Louis Arena (that's why i booked this hotel, since it's fairly close to the arena) and that my mom will be staying in the room while i'm gone. I told him that i'll finish the paperwork once i get back. My mom was visiting me from overseas and she doesn't really speak English so she didn't know she couldn't smoke in the room. she lit up the cigarette and within 5 minutes the owner shows up saying something about finishing the paperwork (even though i specifically told him i'll finish it myself when i'm done) He smells the room and demands my mom to leave the room. when she didn't comply HE CALLED THE COPS ON HER. If this was a decent hotel he would've charged a cleaning fee or something instead of being this disrespectful to his tena

Stayed one night for a concert at the Ford Field which is less than 10 minutes away. The surrounding area of the hotel seemed really sketchy at first, I'm a young female so I was hesitant to walk around by myself but after exploring, I found it to be quite the opposite. The roads infront of the hotel are under heavy construction with streets blocked off so it was difficult to locate and get to at first. The hotel itself was very clean with a kitchenette, large TV and cute bedding. The owner was very friendly and obliging. My only complaints are the A/C isnt very cold and the room could use a painting or two to feel a little more "homey." Overall, good experience and I would stay here again.

Expedia sent me a note saying that the reservation was confirmed. I missed the fine print saying that I needed to contact the hotel in advance to get instructions on how to get inside. My taxi dropped me off and I realized that none of the doors had handles and there was no doorbell or buzzer in sight! I looked up the hotel online and found a phone number. The owner answered with "Hello?" but not a normal business greeting. He told me to wait five minutes and drove up in ten. He explained that my card had been declined so he never sent me an email that normally goes to guests with entrance instructions. He showed me an unmarked metal door with a code lock. The "hotel" looks like a small apartment building. There are no on site staff, and I didn't notice any security cameras in the hallways. The door rooms only have a door handle lock, but no deadbolt. I felt safe, but a lone female traveler might not. The room was basically an efficiency apartment. The furniture and bedding are IKEA basic stuff. I had reserved a queen bed but the only room available had two double beds. The neighborhood seemed relatively safe, but also typically run-down Detroit (strip malls with dollar stores and torn up streets). The biggest problem was that it does not seem to be regularly services by cab companies. The main company told me there would be a 2 HOUR wait, and the others said they didn't do pickups from there, only drop-offs. I got an Uber very quickly though. The room itself was clean.
