The Hampton Inn has a wonderful breakfast with hot and cold options to choose from. Overall a good home away from home. We were very disappointed in that they are now using their pool for private swimming lessons. We were not advised of this prior to booking and were quite astonished when client after client came into the pool area unannounced. We did not know who these people were and parents/guardians were allowing others into the pool area as well, again not knowing who all these people were was very unnerving. We should have been advised of the time and dates this would be happening before booking so that we would have been able to work around this or maybe even looked at another hotel that did not do this. My understanding was that the pool was for guests only not swimming lessons with instructors. This was not a great way to end our last day in Edmonton!!

I booked online using my debit Visa. No issues that I was aware of. My car broke down on the way in, so I was very late. I called 3 different times to let them know I was still coming. I called once we were back on the road again and the gentleman told me that there was an issue with my card but that I could pay with my debit card when I got there, I would just have to pay a $200 deposit which I would get back after we've checked out and the room was clean. That was great. I received a phone call the following morning about 8 AM letting me know that my card declined and that a credit card was mandatory and then 20 minutes later, they canceled my reservation and I received this via email. I was coming through banff when they called me. So my cell service was awful, so I was yelling so that he could hear me. Unfortunately, this translated to him thinking I was screaming at him, which it was not great. I then had to spend the remainder of my drive in working on getting a credit card added on which was an entirely convoluted difficult process. It would have been really helpful to know in advance that the day prior to my arrival is when they changed their policy. The manager, I believe she said she was said that somebody had used a debit card for another room rental and then left damages. Once we got there and got checked in, everything went smoothly from that point. We had a really nice view of the lake from our room which was nice. It was very pretty, and the breakfast was

The poor rating for the staff was because of my checkin experience. The desk clerk was efficient yet too efficient. He never made eye contact nor engaged in any conversation. He also seemed very busy as he was the only person I saw until the next morning.

It's a nice, convenient hotel, which is down the road from the Millenium Place recreation centre (which hosted YEGPin, an awesome pinball expo). The staff was super friendly and extremely professional. The room was clean, the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was included and was well stocked with hot and cold items. There is also a restaurant on the premises which provides delicious meals. It is also next door to an A&W plus a convenience store, so it checks all the boxes in my opinion. Next time I go to YEGPin, I'll definitely stay there, even if there is available at a closer hotel. It's that good.

Second time at this location however we arrived 45 minutes early for check in and was charged an extra $15 for early check in. I’ve never been charged for an early check in so was somewhat surprised about this, especially when the room is ready and we were only less than an hour early.

We definitely enjoyed our stay. ALL of the staff we had encountered were super friendly! Check in was very easy and quick. They give you a number that you can text for the front desk, so if you have any questions or need anything it's convenient. The rooms were clean and modern, the pool was clean as well. Breakfast was good, staff were ontop of all the food and everything was always full. (they also have the best waffle batter out of any hotel I've ever been to) The only critiques I would have are; the black outlets with the USBs on the side of the nightstand and tv stand are GARBAGE, they are very loose and do not hold a cord in. We had blown a breaker in our first room trying to plug a phone charger in (staff transferred us rooms and were very helpful with that) the second room we were in the plugs were just as bad. So we just stuck to using the outlets on the walls. Second critique is the in room coffee pot is in a very odd location, it is almost on the floor under the tv... Haven't seen that before but I'd assume that's probably one of dirtiest places to put it. Just seemed a little odd. Overall 4.8/5! Definitely coming back.
