The island road doesn't connect fully. However it's less than 2 hours to drive around the island. Plan accordingly. All of the rooms sit on top of the water and should have some kind of view. Quiet and beautiful. Hotel restaurant looked like the food was good and affordable (live crab and fish). Secluded and kind of hard to get to but worth it imo.

The staff at Salakphet were so accommodating and tried very hard to make our stay as nice as possible. There were a few problems we encountered once we first arrived. First, the full name of Salakphet Resort is Salakphet Seafood and Resort. It is first and foremost a seafood restaurant, which was hard for us because there are very few other places to eat nearby and we are vegetarians. However, they did their best by coming up with some simple vegetable dishes we could eat. We also didn’t realize how cut off from the rest of the island Salakphet is - it takes an hour or so (and 1000thb+) to get to any of the west side beaches. However we were able to explore a beautiful nearby waterfall and the mangrove forests. They also offer free kayaking! Staying here is very different than your typical Koh Chang resort - it is the quiet side of the island.The room itself was quite spacious and pretty. There is also a beautiful view. A couple negatives where that the water pressure in the shower was quite low and they didn’t have full sized comforters for the beds. They didn’t clean our room at all while we were there but did leave water outside the room for us each day. When we left they also packed us a snack pack for our journey home, which was quite considerate. Overall we are very happy to have stayed here and thankful to the staff!
