A bit dated but fine for the money

Chose this place because it had a pool for me and the grands. Great big pool. We loved it. Check in and out were efficient, desk staff and owner pleasant. Nice places to eat in nearby Marlington, particularly the Rivertown Cafe.

Comfortable roomy clean room at a great price!
5.0
Very good place to stay if you want to go skiing without breaking the bank. The staff is friendly. Rooms are not fancy but have a lodge feel which we like. Place is a bit outdated but well maintained and clean.
5.0
Nice stay but no hot water. Rooms old needs remodel pretty expensive for the outdated rooms other then that great.
6.0
Very worn and dated, but the room was clean

Spacious rooms, great value for the ski season

Their lobby stays open to 3am, so that was nice. I was a little put off by the person in front of me being a walk-in and getting a rate $12 less than mine, which I booked through hotels.com. The rate was good, though, so not too upset. We checked in very late on Friday night, then went to Snowshoe the next morning (~40 mins on snowy roads), then on Saturday evening after skiing, went to take a shower and there was no hot water. So I called the front desk and they explained that on busy weekends (this was a holiday weekend) they sometimes run out in the evening, with everyone coming back from skiing. Problem was, the next morning, I took a nice hot shower, but the water went from warm to cold when my son went. I have never stayed at a motel/hotel that ran out of hot water. This was definitely a mark against them. Otherwise, ask for a room on the bottom floor if you're in the "other" building. The walk can be far from car to 2nd story door. Rooms were very rustic, seemed clean, but with low lighting, I'm hoping :-). Everything worked and beds were comfortable, outlet right below the night stand between beds. Heating unit was pretty smooth & quiet, but did make some slight noises. Not terrible, but not perfect. They also had ski racks in the room, so that was nice. ... Easy to find, as well, and closer to Snowshoe than Marlinton. ... would have probably given them a 4 if not for the lack of hot water. It's a basic, no frills, not modern motel. Repeat? Maybe

Stayed at this property for 5 weekends this winter. It was the best price in the area. You get what you pay for. I would say it was fancy camping. Over those 5 weekends of 2-3 night stays I was able to take two hot showers, the rest of the time the water was cold. One morning the car outside my door was idling while people warmed it up and all the exhaust got trapped in the room (through the door or maybe the air conditioner?) - we breathed in fumes for hours because no air circulation (the heater/airconditioner is attached to that outside wall by the cars). You have to travel to the office to use the microwave to heat up food or water. There is no maid service, even if you stay 3 nights. It took a few stays to perfect the heater to not be too hot, definitely too cold if it's turned off, there is no auto thermostat. The front desk staff are super sweet. Bring your own food if you are gluten-free or vegetarian as the bar has fried bar food only. If people cough, walk, open and close doors, have a dog that barks, or flush a toilet, you can hear it. Most annoying at 3 am when people are coming from the bar on the property. We started bringing our own blankets and this helped us sleep better. Also, the coffee makers are so small that it takes over 15 minutes to fill a small thermos full of hot water.

It was clean and nice. Staff was excellent.

the motel is old and definitely showing it's age. It was clean enough and the lady at the front desk was friendly. The beds and the pillows were too hard for me. I guess it was ok for one night only

I visited this property in February. So I cannot comment on the pool. The property was on the older side but it was clean. Beds were ok enough that I slept pretty good. Bathroom was fairly nice. Not brand new, but good. There was a mini fridge in the room. Wish there was a microwave, but there was a microwave in the main office area. The price was really good and the drive to Snowshoe was only 40 minutes. Downtown Marlinton is about 5 or so minutes down the road. An IGA grocery store, DQ, and a few restaurants made some good options for food in Marlinton. I didn't try the restaurant at the Inn. All of that made for a great decision to stay at Marlinton Motor Inn instead of the much more expensive places close to the ski resort.

This is a reasonable motel but the rooms and facilities are dated. The heat takes a while to heat the room. Rates are very reasonable.

My room was so cold that I had to ask for another one partly because the heater didn’t work. The second room was almost that cold but the heater worked a little bit better. I had to sleep in longjohns.

The property needs updating. It is old but convenient from Snowshoe. Glad it's still there.

1 night good, 2 night making repairs in the roon above until 11pm , but overall a good place to stay. We would definitely stay again!

The room was not clean, bedsheets had not been changed, when I pulled back the top covers I found multiple stray hairs and dried blood in one of the pillows. I called the front desk and they said they would send someone over to change them. I went to the hotel bar to kill time while they came to change out the sheets, they had good drinks but the food was pretty terrible, when I got back to the room I found they hadn’t changed the sheets but they had piled new sheets in a heap on the corner of the bed. They offered to move me to the one available room but I didn’t want to risk it being any worse so I just brought my sleeping bag in and slept on top of the covers. I would rather camp out in the cold than stay here again.

It is what it is, a motel. Not a bad place to lay your head down when all you need is sleep.

I waited for over 30 minutes to check out and still no one was there. I had to leave the key at the office entrance door. I took photos to prove it was after 7:30 and the sign said it would be open from 7:00 an to 11pm.

Supposed to be non smoking room. Room smells strong of majunia and it was no microwave
Staff was very friendly and helpful

Safe, clean place to stay. We felt comfortable and the staff was very friendly.
Microwaves are in the office, that was a tad bit inconvenient but it gave us a chance to chit chat with the staff. We had a great time and would stay again if we are in the area again.

It was good for last minute, there was a little marijuana shake next to the Bible in the cabinet, and was missing the heat lamp in the bathroom, but overall not bad if you just want to stay a night.

Very affordable rates and clean.

Room was relatively clean, had lots of large concerning stains on floor. Definitely behind times on decor and operations still using a regular key, but it is acceptable for a short stay if your just looking for a place to sleep for a night thats reasonably priced.

Very clean spacious rooms.

Wasnt bad place other than a few soft spots in floor where they must have had water leak.

Room was dirty - crumbs on table, night stands & floor, hair on toilet & bathtub. None of us would even shower there. Bed was like a board, and both my husband's feet and my own hung off the bed. Staff was friendly, but super busy, and not there when we tried to check out in the morning. Had to ring the bell multiple times to get assistance. Cost for the night was pricey, considering.

Friendly staff. Unfortunately, restaurant closed due to workers shortage.

The property is conveniently located right outside of Marlinton and approximately 20 miles from Snowshoe Mountain. The room was reasonably priced and very clean. It just needed a few things take care of like the curtain was broken/would stay closed, tub needed to be
re-caulked, and there was a missing light over the sink in the bathroom. Otherwise, it was a good place to stay.

This property was delightful. Front desk so friendly and accommodating. When we got to our room, wow, so inviting, clean and comfortable. We'll be staying here again, as well as recommending to family and friend!
Well done Marlinton Motor Inn!👍❤️

Where should I start. First they couldn’t find my reservation. Then I was told they had closed their restaurant. When I opened the door to the room, it reeked of cigarette smoke. Now it was time for bed, and to my surprise the sheets were loaded with crumbs. The only thing that topped it, was the water stains on the sagging ceiling.
