Clean, cozy, spacious. Perfect for after a day hiking!
3.8
A quiet place nestled in the woods, perfect in terms of accessing Mount Rainier.
3.8
Quaint place. Loved the sitting areas outside and the flowers. The ladies checking us in were very helpful. Overall a great experience.
3.8
This place is small. If you stay for a long period of time. Be sure to buy food and supplies before entering Ashford. This is a literal bunkhouse. I brought a cooler for drinks and food. There cafe has some food and there is a diner near by. Dated facility because its a bunkhouse but this is what i was looking for and I only say this because some other people might expect more. Overall I enjoyed this place and would have stayed longer if my plans didn't change.
3.8
Historical building with veranda and rustic feel. Spacious, clean room with comfortable beds. On site cafe and bar/grill next door. Close to Paradise entrance of Mt Rainer.
3.8
Served its purpose for a night near Mt. Rainier. Very basic property. The two separate bedrooms with an adjoining bathroom worked well for our family.
3.8
Pros: 15 min drive to Paradise Corridor entrance, very helpful and cheery staff
Cons: Small room furnished only with 2 twin beds, luggage rack and night table. A bit cramped and worn.
3.8
Great mountain side lodging. Would stay again
3.8
The bed is uncomfortable and room is very noisy
3.8
Staff and owner was so friendly and nice, I had some issues and canceled at last min. He was so nice and accepted my request.
3.8
A very nice place to stay near Mount Rainier

If you are looking for a place to stay near Mt.Rainier NP without breaking the bank, this might be a good option for you.
Just some things to consider...
First of all, I was shocked to find that this joint had such high ratings (even though most of the positive comments are about ice cream and pizza). I know part of the charm of this place is "roughing it" so when we arrived and realized there was no TV in the room, my reaction was "okay, oh well". But my wife and I arrived to a hot room with no air conditioning and two small fans. Both were caked in dirt/dust and one didn't even work.
Upon further inspection of the bathroom, shower and toilet were in desperate need of a good scrubbing. Water temperature and pressure were inconsistent. Ive taken better showers at backwoods campgrounds. The cherry on top was the rock-hard beds that prevented us from getting a good night's rest.
TLDR - probably best to spend a few extra bucks for 21st century amemities and a clean room somewhere else, but to each their own.

A few of the reviews here were less than charitable. We loved it though. Very cool mountaineering vibe. We sat outside and had wine at the picnic tables and then there was live music in the courtyard at the bar next door. It was an awesome evening.

Definitely more "Historic Bunkhouse" than "Motel". The rooms are VERY sparse and rustic: not much in the way of power outlets, camp beds with foamy mattresses, no tv, spotty wi-fi, no extra space or furniture (like a chair?) in the room, no hair dryer in the bathroom - just the absolute basics. Like I said, more bunkhouse than motel, but a decent place to crash for the night if you're on your way to or from Mount Rainier. Wouldn't recommend it to people who appreciate the basic comforts provided by most hotels/motels, but great for the outdoor enthusiast who just needs a place to sleep, shower, and go.

It is a great place to stay for visiting Mt Rainer. Or just hiking in the area. The staff were primarily college age. Very pleasant.
The one frustration was that the internet was very unreliable.
3.8
Beds were a little hard but it was rustic ... Very close to events downtown and eating. Grocery store close by.
NO Air Conditioning - had to leave windows open all the time
3.8
Pretty basic with sketchy wifi. No free coffee.
3.8
We enjoyed our stay very much. Loved the vibe and enjoyed the cafe each morning.
3.8
A nice property if you know what to expect. It is a clean, basic accommodation with no frills. I wanted a place to stay after a strenuous hike to Camp Muir and this was fine for my needs. You should note there is no TV, AC, in-room coffee, and the advertised free wifi didn't work.
3.8
It’s 6 miles to the national park entrance. With a timed entry passes starting from 2024, this property is a good option for an affordable rate. The interiors are decent , don’t expect a Marriott or holiday inn service.
3.8
Loved our stay here! Convenient to get coffee in mornings from the adjoined shop. Good location to get to mt rainier, and still close to food options! Only catch was didn’t realize how small rooms were. It worked fine for us only staying 2 days, but would’ve been a bit cramped for longer.
3.8
This is such a great place to stay if you're visiting Rainier. It's right outside the park gates, the rooms are big, clean, and comfortable, and there's a great cafe right on the property to pick up breakfast on your way to the park. Also, a clean, well-maintained hot tub to relax in after your hike. The food next door is good, the store will have any gear you forgot, and the whole property is very nice. Definitely recommend!

Loved this very much!! Restaurant closes early is necessary to know abt this property & surrounding area. Had to travel 40 minutes to find an open restaurant past 7:00 pm
3.8
Cafe with breakfast was fantastic. Enjoyed historic features of the property.
3.8
The bathroom was not good. The shower was a dribble the first night and not very hot the other 2 days. No hooks anywhere to hang towels. No space to put anything.
3.8
Very basic room, no sound proofing so could hear people walking in other rooms (wooden floor) including upstairs. No hair dryers, no tv, room small and considering it was a motel there was no parking outside. Nice little cafe they have, good range of drinks and ice cream. I think food could have been better.
3.8
We forgot to check in early with the property for late arrival but they were so helpful and had the keys ready outside for us!
3.8
This motel is just for a stopover to go to the mountains. The rooms are small without any TV, coffee and soap service.

Booked and paid for 3 nights, left after 1. It was that bad we were prepared to write off the two nights. It is simply awful. So noisy we could here every snore, belch, moan, word and footstep from the room above. We were two doors down from the office and coffee shop so everyone walked past our room on the very noisy boardwalk. There were hairs in the bath from previous occupiers. The towels had holes in and must be 10 years old and when we asked for replacements we were told they were out of towels. I have since read a review on here from September 2023 when someone else said the towels had holes in. So 8 months later and they have done nothing. The inside of the our room resembled a garden shed. The curtains dont fit so you daren't put the light on unless you are fully clothed. There are no prices displayed in the coffee shop. On here it says a small breakfast is between 3.5 and 6 dollars. I would like the owners to say what you can buy for that. We had two breakfast muffins and a very small latte and it was $20.
The place is a rip off. The people who give this place 5 stars and just say "wonderful" are out of their minds. Save your money and sleep in your car. Youll be just a comfortable and it wont be anywhere near as noisy.

Good motel.

This place is sweet and comfortable. A good deal for the money. The mattresses all seemed fairly new and very comfortable. I am not a TV person at all so I liked that there was no tv in the room. The coffee at the coffee shop was good in the morning on the way to the park.
3.8
The room was fine and cleanish despite the strands of black hair in the sheets and dingy pillowcases. This was *fine* considering we were just staying there for the night HOWEVER when showing up to check in there was NO ONE to be found. While it was 9pm, hotels.com stated checkin was until 10pm. Before we panicked too much, my husband did a lap and found our room keys and information TAPED to a window in an envelope. I’ve stayed at many hotels and this was a first for me. Very creepy, and VERY unprofessional considering they could have called or contacted us with a heads up. The history behind the place is interesting but will not be staying here again. I would recommend checking out other properties nearby.

Nice location
3.8
It was a comfortable room, great morning coffee. The bar next door had the best clam chowder. Went there to go to Paradise Snow Park.
3.8
The property has a unique history and is close to the National Park. Setting was beautiful. We did have a small store close by which was helpful as this is a true rural location. Our room was quite large as well. Would have liked water a bit hotter, but if I am in Ashford again this would be my choice of accomodations. I will recommend this area and Mt Rainier National Park ...Nisqually Entrance.
3.8
Really nice comfortable hotel, nothing fancy but really nice.
3.8
Within easy distance of Mount Rainer National Park; Coffee shop breakfast ice cream offerings were great.
3.8
Very soothing and relaxing
3.8
I like it quite, easy drive to Mt rainier, clean, hot tub, simple furniture in our room, it’s simple concept that I like, only thing bothering me is the noise from next door, otherwise I really enjoyed staying there
