The property is very basic.
One bed one shower. Careful Only dry toilets.

We spent one night just for the experience and it was not a good one. Having a bathroom with no water was not pleasant considering the room for $65 a night. Find something nicer for a third of the price.

Hotel never picked us up after we arranged to be picked up. Sent a very rude email after leaving a review. Would never book this hotel again or recommend it

We really enjoyed our stay here. The family are super friendly and the small houses on the island are cozy. The family live on the same island so you get the opportunity to know them. They serve good breakfast and also an optional dinner for an extra $10 if you want that. I would recommend bringing warm clothes as it gets quite cold in the evening (october).

People were beautiful but the experience was vastly different to what was expected or moreso what was advertised by Hotels.com. We ended up leaving that same day

What you see and book is not what you get. Another couple that turned up got the rooms in the photos. Also our room had no shower and the toilet was lined with newspaper that you threw soil on. Rooms were also not secure. We ended up leaving and booking a hotel in Puno.

The family was very welcoming. They are very keen of sharing their cultures and traditions but easier if you speak Spanish. Very interesting experience for us and breathtaking scenery.

Went during the winter and no heater....freezing ...but they try to accommodate with a lot of blankets and their hot water bottle for warmth. Spiders were in our room and I don’t do well with insects! Got bitten of course.

The sons (John and Joel) are fine. Their parents are very greedy. Be aware of over priced everything. And if you do not buy or use their paid serviced, they become unfriendly. Because we refused to use their service of either $10 boat transportation or 40 Sol (about $12) taxi to another hotel which is about 4 minutes drive from the port, they hold us for almost half hour. Thanks another family from Korea who speak Spanish for helping us translating and explaining to them. I think it is similar for other hotels on the Uros floating island. If you do want to experience, one night is more than enough, and be prepared to be ripped off. Strongly recommend the hotel Libertador Lago Titicaca. If you get the lake view room, you can see the Uros floating island from your window!

The lodge is not to be confused with a hotel; its simple accommodation (newly built about four months ago) of four bedrooms with attached bathroom and a shared dining room, located on one of the Uros floating islands and shared with the family. The room was clean, the bed was warm (important, given that the temperature can go very low in the night and that there is no heating... thanks also for the hot water bottles!) and the bathroom was surprisingly well equipped with solar-heated water (very low pressure, but hot nonetheless). The family was very friendly and I enjoyed talking with them at length about the traditional life (although most Uros inhabitants now live from tourism, the life remains dominated by the old topics of reeds and water). Spanish helps. We took dinner on the island for an additional charge and the food was plenty. We also made a couple of boat trips to visit the rest of the islands and cut reeds. All in all a great experience, provided that you are not expecting hotel comfort, wifi or nightlife. Bear in mind that the costs can add up (meals, tours, souvenirs), that only cash is accepted as payment and that the nearest ATM is a boat-ride and taxi ride away in Puno. Go and experience a lifestyle out of the ordinary.

We had the most amazing experience staying on the Uros 3 nights and 4 days including the drive from Cusco to Puno enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Peruvian Andes. The local people were incredibly friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and fun. Even with the language barrier communication was no problem. They even loaned us local costumes and posed for photos with us, just like family. The free breakfast was delicious but the dinners they served us were way over the top. After dinner they furnish you with hot water bottles to place in the bed before you retire that keeps you warm all night long! The bed was so comfortable we want to find one like it for our own home. To have solar electric and plenty of hot water in this location was such a comfort.

It was quite an experience. Since we have never been to the floating islands, my wife and I were apprehensive about getting to the lodge. But after contacting the lodge, they were able to arrange a taxi and a boat to take us out to the island for a small additional fee.
When we arrived at Puno bus terminal there was someone waiting for us with our name on a sign. The driver took us out to an out of the way place which we we’re getting a little nervous about until we saw the small boats.
The small skiff took us out to the island where were greeted warmly. We didn’t speak much Spanish and the family didn’t speak hardly any English but we were able to communicate.
The room was cozy and the bathroom was primitive. The only problem was that we did not have a shower as advertised in the room description. I believe the owners conveyed to us that there were showers but they were solar showers and that it had been overcast. We did have cold running water in the bathroom but it came out as a trickle.
We stayed four two nights and really needed a shower after our stay. Luckily we didn’t sweat too much during that time so everything was bearable.
Looking back, it was a very nice stay and one of the high points of our trip to Peru. I would recommend at least a one night stay to experience the community of the people of the floating islands. The family who own the lodge were very friendly an

I loved our stay on the uros. The family is very accomodating. And our group of 14 were well cared for. They have only 2 rooms with a shower which was the only downside in my opinion.

Learning about the floating islands and the Quechua peoples way of life has been invaluable; we were fully immersed in their culture which is an experience you couldn’t find anywhere else. The lake is beautiful, the food made for us was amazing and the island itself is a phenomenon of hard and work and dedication by the family living here. Of course the facilities are basic but that’s because you are staying on an island made of reeds! Or ‘totara’ In the Quechua language.

My wife and I had the most unique experience learning how the people of Lake titicaca live day by day. It is said this is the birthplace of the Inca people. Benito his wife Julia, Noe and his brothers are so welcoming and made our stay so wonderful. Benito will take you on a boat tour of the 93 floating islands and explain the work they have to put in each and everyday to maintain their wonderful island. The entire family contributes and works so hard, the food was so amazing, You must try the trout for lunch, you won’t be disappointed. The room has a lake mountain view and the bathroom is new with running hot water. You will not be cold at night as the family sends you to bed with a hot water bottle and the nice thick blankets keep you nice and warm at night. You must visit Uros Qhota uta lodge, top 5 experience of my life. Make sure you bring an extra bag with you or leave room in your case so you can purchase handmade art, from blankets to wall art that tells you the history of how they live, to handmade shirts, vests etc. Julia makes all the clothing and wall art which takes her 1 month to make one. The boys also make mini boats from totora reed which are amazing. Truly one of the most unique experiences of a lifetime. You will have to book and see for yourself.

It was a super experience. We didn’t know how to find the island so called our hosts. They sent a taxi to pick us up at our hotel in Puno and came in their boat to pick us up on the shore in Puno and take us to the island lodging. We had 3 delicious meals and a 2 hour tour around the lake. All for a VERY reasonable priceHighly recommend. It’s so easy to do yourself. Be sure to lighten the load of blankets on the bed, otherwise you can’t turn over and it’s too warm.
