Small rooms as I think most Riads must be. Our room was overlooking the street so it was quite noisy. The restaurant was excellent and the staff was most helpful. A lot of money for what you get, but that also be normal. I would not stay there again because I prefer a hotel over a Riad. Live and learn!!

We stayed at Tangier for only one night and it was our first time in Morocco. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Rooms were clean and nice. Hotel is beautiful. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was really delicious.

Top location to explore the old centre of town. Room was ok, roof top terras is spectacular. A big noisy at night but everything else was ok, I'd repeat the experience!

We took a ferry from Spain and upon check in at Palais Zahia were invited to relax in the dining area with tea and cookies. The hotel is located among all the shops and restaurants so everything is close, although be prepared for a bit of walking. Breakfast offered quite a variety and we found the staff to be helpful. The air conditioner didn’t get the room as cool as I would have liked but it was comfortable

Lovely place in the heart of the old town/medina. We also booked the driver to pick us up from Tangier Med (which is much further than the port/marina in Tangier itself and it was great and the driver really good and friendly but just be aware of the distance). Staff amazing, helpful and friendly and the restaurant lovely. When we arrived, we sat in a lovely little seating area and were given tea.

Stayed the first and last night(s) in Morocco. Excellent focus on hospitality. Breakfast buffet was one of the best I've experienced and the first floor restaurant was fantastic.
Would stay again.

Disappointing Stay with a Silver Lining
I recently stayed at Palais Zahia in Tangier, Morocco, and overall, it was a disappointing experience. While the hotel's central location near the port was convenient, the quality of the accommodations left much to be desired.
Upon arrival, I was assigned a room with mold growing along the walls of the bathroom. After requesting a change, I was moved to another room. Though this room did not have visible mold, it smelled very musty and was extremely humid, making it uncomfortable to stay in. Another couple was placed in my initial room, instead of the issue being addressed, and also complained.
The saving grace of my stay was the dining experience. The food, served on the terrace, was delightful. I particularly enjoyed the chicken Pastilla, and the ambiance was enhanced by the vibrant dancing and music in the square.
Despite the enjoyable meal, the overall experience at Palais Zahia was marred by the poor room conditions. I hope the management addresses these issues promptly to improve the experience for future guests.

Great place to stay if you want a beautiful Rihad experience- fabulous breakfast included. Room was a bit small, but excellent towels/ sheets and bed. Staff extremely accommodating and very polite. Highly recommend.

The property was maintained poorly. The fridge was not working , the caulk around the shower was full of mold , carpet was not clean.

I’m a 57 year old woman from America travelling with my 22 year old daughter. We loved the history and the culture. The hotel room was beautiful. The breakfast was amazing. We felt very safe. The hotel staff was great. It was noisy outside until 3am, but brought my headphones to sleep. Read about the noisiness in other reviews. Totally manageable.

The Palais Zahia is the best hotel I've ever stayed in, anywhere.
Everything about this hotel is stellar--the building's beautiful architecture and unique spaces, the Moroccan ornamentation everywhere, the condition of the rooms, and the various restaurant choices (some of the best Moroccan cuisine I've had).
The friendly and helpful management and reception staff stand out in particular. The cooks, restaurant servers, and room cleaners also contribute to the excellent experience.

We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights non refundable and left after the first night. Though the hotel is a nice riad with attentive wait staff the noise at night is unbearable. Other reviews said it quieted down by 11pm. We found it too noisy to sleep until after 2am. And then their call to worship began between 4-5am and felt like it was in my room. It does quiet down in the morning so I caught another hour before our 9am tour. Yes, they still charged me the taxes on departure for the second night we didn't stay.
Their "free" tour of the city. Sure, take it, but by all means do NOT go with them for any shopping. Disappointed doesn't even begin to describe it. It was a complete sham. Besides, you are better off buying things out of this city. Pushy and extremely rude shop owners and your "guide" helps them along. We enjoyed our day spent outside of the city so much more.
So, if you must stay in Tangier (not recommended) at least stay in the modern area so you can get sleep.

This is a perfect haven in the middle of the bustling Medina. You enter from the street and find yourself in a calm, elegant, sophisticated and culturally rich environment which is nothing less than stunning. I will make it my regular stay in Tangier and will recommend it to everyone.

Dear Palais Zahia Team,
I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the unique and unforgettable experience we had during our stay at Palais Zahia in Tangier.
From the very first step into your enchanting riad, we were captivated by its timeless charm and the seamless blend of modern amenities with Moroccan tradition. The central location within Tangier’s medina allowed us to immerse ourselves fully in the city’s vibrant atmosphere.
Here are a few highlights that made our stay truly exceptional:
Warm Hospitality: Your team’s kindness and attentiveness made us feel like honored guests, your dedication did not go unnoticed.
Comfort and Beauty: The rooms at Palais Zahia are not just comfortable; they are a sanctuary. The comfortable beds, soothing showers, and elegant decor provided a haven after our explorations.
Clear Communication: The seamless communication via email and WhatsApp during our planning phase was truly appreciated. It made our travel arrangements smoother.
Evening Call to Prayer: Listening to the evening call to prayer from your riad’s terrace remains one of our favorite moments from the trip. It felt like a spiritual connection to Tangier.
In summary, Palais Zahia is not just a place to stay; it’s an oasis of beauty, tradition and cultural richness. We left with hearts full of gratitude and memories that will stay with us forever.

Excellent staff and experience. If you go during Ramadan, it will be noisy at night but the location is well worth it. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Hotel contacted our taxi driver they’ll send someone to parking lot to help carrying our two luggages. Upon arrival we saw 2 men waiting one with uniform one without. One each took one luggage then strolled away side by side. Soon we lost sight of them then suddenly the one without uniform showed up and asked for tips bluntly. I offered him 20 Durham, he refused demanding paper money as he saw my wife has them in her wallet. We said we have 100 left what would be enough? he quickly grabbed that 100 without our consent and ran away.
We reported this incident to hotel and suggested to call police. The answer was they don’t know that person and sorry what had happened.
100 might not be a big amount but hotel staff allowing stranger to carry their customers’ luggage it is a Big No No. the imposter could’ve taken our luggage then walked away with it, with hotel staff knowing he’s the only one to pick us up.
Big safety issue.

Gorgeous room- so pretty but everything is made to be more decorative than practical. The beautiful blinds didn’t shut right, so they clinked against the window every time there was any wind. The huge pretty and spacious bathroom had a shower that always over-flooded since it doesn’t drain right. The room key is an ACTUAL decorative ornate key which is a nice touch but you have to use it when you leave and come back since there is no auto lock and it’s a finicky door. Can just imagine how much they charge you if you lose it. The AC worked fine. But don’t trust the numbers since there’s no way that 25C was actually 25C in the room- much colder.
The location is amazing - right in the middle of everything you ever want to see in tangier, but you pay a very heavy price if you are a light sleeper- it is by far the noisiest hotel we’ve stayed at, and the party outside your window doesn’t stop until well into 4AM.. dogs, kids, friends, cats, etc- they are all there seemingly screaming right where you are trying to sleep. We were on the second floor- maybe the other floors are better. The view, though is gorgeous- charming city view which looks very European.
Breakfast area is sooo pretty- fireplace, and fountain, tons of comfy seats. Selection was ok. Basic stuff. Orange juice and lime juice freshly squeezed. Had beet juice one day and it’s ok if you really love sweet beets. Didn’t get a chance to go to the rooftop but the other reviews and pics show it’s worth the view.

This is a medium-sized Riad style hotel. It is very well situated just inside the Tangier Medina and there is an excellent view of the harbour and Tangier hills from the military ramparts at the bottom of the street.
Taxis must let you off at the Medina gate and there is about a 50-yard uphill walk to the hotel. Tourists with luggage are a magnet for local youngsters who make money latching on to those who show any hesitation in their route. For this hotel it would be useful to have some low denomination notes for them because the location and even the entrance of the hotel is not obvious from the street.
The hotel staff were welcoming. Our rooms were generic, but clean and comfortable. The style of the hotel funnels ground floor activity sounds in the atrium up to the rooms. It is moderately noisy in the evening, but quiet after 11. The morning breakfast buffet is Moroccan style and excellent.
The staff were very good at arranging tours. We did a private car tour of the coast and a walking tour of the Medina. Both were with excellent guides and the ability to charge them to the room was convenient.
This is a good place to stay for an introduction to Tangier and we were very satisfied with our stay

The staff is wonderful, very attentive. Ask for Lina Amrani for any tours, she's awesome and very nice. The breakfast is very good. We found the bed comfortable and we had a balcony over the Medina (room 18) which was very cool.

We had a wonderful two night stay at the Palais Zahia. The hotel is situated right in the Medina and very conveniently located to explore the Medina and the Kasbah. The ferry terminal is also a short walk away. The hotel offered us complimentary tea on arrival and the room was nice and comfortable. The hotel arranged transfer to and from the Ferry terminal and then to Chefchaouen at a reasonable rate.
Staff was wonderful specially Mohammad and The manager, Sukaina.
The dinner at the hotel restaurant was great too.

Our family loved the stay at Palais Zahia!!!! Location is excellent, right in the middle of medina and close to everything. Rooms are clean and spacious. Restaurant serves excellent food. Decor and design is simply beautiful. Arranging pickups and tours was super easy - everything one needs all in 1 place.
Everyone at the hotel is what tops the experience!! So nice and accommodating; really made us feel like family.

Nicest hotel we stayed at in Morocco. Rooms and lobby are breathtaking, and the buffet breakfast was delicious and had many wonderful options that we did not see elsewhere in Morocco. The bed was especially comfortable. Great location in the medina and not too far to walk from the ferry terminal, though a cab would be useful if traveling with heavy luggage. Wish we had a few more days here as it was a truly wonderful stay. Staff was extremely helpful and even offered a free walking tour through the medina. Massage and spa services were also available though we didn't have enough time to try. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Tangier!

The staff at Palais Zahia are warm and welcoming and the hotel itself is a gem of Moroccan artistry. It’s centrally located in the medina in a busy square, great as a launching point for exploring on foot.
The third floor terrace offers lovely views of the harbor. Breakfast, which is included, offers pastries, breads, fruit, confitures, and some fresh vegetables and olives.
We had dinner in the hotel one evening; menu is Moroccan. We didn’t care for our fish dishes so much, but we were also getting a little tired of Moroccan fare. Service is excellent all around. The Palais does not serve alcohol. Our TV didn’t work and they couldn’t figure out how to fix it, but we didn’t need it anyway. The property can be a little noisy as Tangier stays up late and the morning call to prayer can be rousing. Be sure to pull your soundproof window closed at night😉 It was a special place to stay! Public Parking is down the hill on Blvd Mohammed V. Call hotel ahead to arrange help getting your luggage up the hill. Parking is not included but also not expensive.

If you want to stay somewhere which feels traditionally Moroccan then it should be here. Set in the middle of the medina amongst the markets and bars. Decor is how beautifully Moroccan and the staff are some of the most polite and helpful people I have met in the hospitality industry. Taxis can only take you so far into the Medina and you need to walk a couple of minutes to get to the hotel. It is tucked away and you could easily miss it, the taxi driver asked a local man to guide us. The Moroccan tea they offer you on arrival, taken in an area set up in the traditional Moroccan home style was a lovely touch. Would definately recommend and stay again.
