Asakusa on the whole was disappointing due to the mass commercialism. Apart from the temple there isn’t much apart from mainly tacky shops and mediocre/poor restaurants. Bars on hoppy street aren’t great and all require cover charges. Would give it a miss on your itinerary.

I have been to Japan several times and the Asakusa area where this hotel is located is my favorite. The location is perfect, the service excellent and the rooms are clean. I would definitely stay in that hotel again if the opportunity presented itself.
4.6
Very over priced and an enormous disappointment to our Japanese trip. This was the final night of our stay. Given the price (nearly £400 for one night), we expected something special. The hotel was extremely basic. Breakfast was tasteless. There was nothing stylish or luxurious about this place. Almost like a youth hostel. Tacky decorations. Had an initial problem with the air conditioning making a terrible noise - but this was fixed. On a busy road - but a very long walk from metro stations. Not in an interesting area at all and need to walk to be in the main Asakusa district.
4.6
This hotel has a lot of misused potential.
The area is superb and is very practical if you want to see the Tokyo Skytree and explore Asakusa. Other than that it sits in a nice position if you'd like to explore Tokyo.
Misused potential includes:
- Not having a washing and drying machine for clothes (most japanese hotels and capsule hotels include this). And to this price-point I believe it's a necessity.
- Bathroom slippers should be provided, which was not.
- They do not ship forgotten items (not that it was needed, but nice to have if you forget something dear)
- The aircondition is set to a minimum at 23°celcius or (73 degree fahrenheit). Which is to high considering it was like 34 degree (93) outside heating up the room.
Other than the above forementioned, the staff was friendly and the breakfast (the japanese style, because you can choose) was delicious. Don't pick the western breakfast!
4.6
A great blend of modern and traditional decor; rooms were good sized, especially by Tokyo standards and a big plus was the outdoor bath and terrace as part of the room; you can select from a wide range of Western and Japanese breakfast choices that were prepared very well; staff was very warm and helpful - our flight was delayed because of the typhoon and we were able to extend our stay without changing rooms. Short walk to Asakusa station and lots of service (restaurants, convenience stores, shops) nearby - there’s a great matcha place, Hatoya, across the road. Will definitely stay again!

The service was below expectations and the check in set the tone. We were given one card key and when we asked for another the receptionist stated we were only allowed one. I questioned this policy as a different receptionist had just asked another guest how many keys they wanted. The receiptionist claimed that because we were staying only one night we were only allowed one key, but she would make an exception. Also, a job interview was being conducted in the lobby, which seemed inappropriate for the sake of the interviewee's privacy.
Other things that were off were in the room, dust on the windowsill and around the tv, stains on the tatami mat, cheap in room safe, no way to make coffee/tea despite a hot water kettle in the room (we were told to come downstairs for them) and wallpaper coming off at the seams. That being said overall the room was not bad and outside bath unique, but would have been better if it somehow had a view.
However, the final thing that contributed to a negative experience was the receptionist at checkout, she was terse and preoccupied. I observed similar interactions with other guests checking out.
Omotenashi was lacking at this hotel. For a ryokan style hotel, the service and attention to details does not support that concept or rate. Ironically, in the job interview, the interviewer stated to the candidate how this hotel is a high end hotel charging at least 20,000 yen per room. On a final note, we didn't receive any of the VIP Access benefits.

Wins in all aspects specially the location

Bugs everywhere. My fiance and I were bitten all night. We told the staff and they insisted that there’s nothing they can do and the bugs are everywhere.
4.6
We love that this hotel is in a quiet neighborhood yet in a 10-minute walk to restaurants. We loved our room since it a traditional Japanese style room with tatami mats but with a modern take. We also loved the very spacious well equipped bathroom. Our room was very clean and big enough to accommodate our family. It also has a balcony with a view of the Tokyo Skytree with it’s own private onsen which my kids enjoyed so much. The people are very warm, always welcoming and willing to help.
4.6
Very kind staff and beautiful room very reminiscent of Japanese culture.
4.6
Great service, loved the spacious room, still walkable to the train.

I usually prioritise booking hotels with VIP Access as I have Expedia Platinum membership. However, when I arrived the hotel I was told that this hotel doesn’t provide room upgrade, even if it’s available. This is basically dishonest marketing to lure frequent Expedia users to book this hotel for non-existing member benefit. Tbh bottle of sparkling wine or house wine is the worst welcome amenity ever, if someone doesn’t drink during the stay nor is able to pack the huge bottle of liquid.
Service wise it’s very inconsistent. For example, I stayed 6 nights at this hotel and the dust bin was never placed at the same location after cleaning. Sometimes, my tissue box was never replenished; sometimes it was open and the tissue package was laying beside the tissue box (basically unfinished cleaning). My own pyjama was also never placed at the same location. Sometimes on top of my suitcase, sometimes folded nicely on my bed (assuming it’s the right way), sometimes under my laptop, sometimes on the tatami floor.
Water temperature is way too hot, burning hot. I could hardly find a perfect temperature in the shower or basin tap. Even when I luckily found it, the housekeeping would bring it back to 40 degrees after cleaning.
There was a constant noise in my room 1104, every 5 seconds, coming from the wall. Was too tired after work to even mention it.
There is no bathroom slippers prepared, which is weird for a ryokan.
Japanese breakfast was terrible. Oyakodon was so salty.

This was beautiful property, with very friendly staff. The location was perfect for the temple.
4.6
This was one of our favourite stays in all of Japan. It was nice to have a combination of traditional ryokan with a modern hotel. The ammenitites were terrific and so was the staff. The location can't be beat - only a 5 min walk from the Sensō-ji temple (which must be seen at night!).
4.6
Facility was clean but super tight for 4 people in one room. It was a bit strange that it is located very close to “love hotel”. Service was good and homey.
4.6
Nice hotel in a quiet part of Asakusa. Walking distance to trains and great food markets along near the temple.
4.6
Great location, walkable, rooms were also very clean, and big for Japan rooms(hotel rooms in Japan are tiny). Service was great but some front desk need to be more polite. There was one front desk that spoke very differently to us vs the locals.
Has a nice semi open tub outside bathroom. Beds are low in a tatami room. They provide free water and coffee. Breakfast became boring after 2nd day. Very walkable. Close to Senso-Ji temple.
4.6
There’s plenty good here, excellent breakfast, walkable to shrine as well as a very clean property.
4.6
Amazing traditional Ryokan experience with a choice of a Japanese or western style breakfast. Reception staff very helpful, friendly, and speak great English.
4.6
This was our first stop for our family in Japan and it was lovely. The staff was very kind. The bath on our balcony was so nice! Our children loved having a park across the street to play in during the early morning hours. Shrine, shops and eateries were a quick 10ish min walk away. Had no problem getting to the trains, 10 min walk. Wished there was laundry onsite as they do provide laundry service but it’s pretty pricey, priced per piece of clothing item. Breakfast is the same everyday. Dinner was super expensive! I’d look elsewhere for that. But otherwise, great stay and we would stay here again.
4.6
From the moment I arrived, the check-in process was smooth and welcoming.
The dining experience at the ryokan was delightful. The restaurant on the second floor offered a variety of delicious dishes, and the breakfast buffet was both extensive and satisfying. The friendly staff made the dining experience even more enjoyable.
Despite the room being on the smaller side, its comfort and cleanliness more than made up for it. The ryokan’s blend of traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern amenities provided a unique and memorable experience.
For a truly authentic and comfortable experience in Tokyo, Prostyle Ryokan Tokyo Asakusa is an excellent choice. I look forward to returning in the future.
4.6
It was easy to get to everything from the hotel. It was clean, the staff were friendly, and the amenities were great. Would stay here again.
4.6
Nice ryokan looking hotel. Although its on a busy street you can’t hear the traffic. Senso-Ji and Sumida River in walking distance. All clean, nice staff. Really enjoyed our stay.
4.6
Beautiful hotel, wonderful service from friendly staff and the rooms are nice and clean with the ryokan style decor. Will stay here again! We came with 9 and 11 years old and we loved having the complimentary tea and coffee in mornings before we went out.
4.6
Prime location, close to Nakamise Dori, Sensoji and public transportation. The room is average Japan size so those with large luggage may find it tight. The partially open onsen is more of a small tub. Overall, housekeeping and the location made the Prostyle Ryokan shine. I would stay here again!
4.6
The hotel was great: the first floor had free refreshments while we waited for check in time. The employees who helped us spoke great English. Although we didn't go, there is also a restaurant and room service. The room was nice with tatami flooring, a balcony, and we had a partially open air tub. Our only struggle was that the walk to the station is a bit far when you have luggage. Otherwise it was close to Sensoji and the area of Asakusa is very nice!
4.6
Amazing hotel with great Japanese style rooms. Fabulous location and on the Ginza line making it easy to get to main Tokyo attractions. Lovely staff.
4.6
Beautiful and comfortable stay in a convenient location. Awesome ryokan experience with an onsen, in a modern facility. Very pleasant hospitality too.
4.6
This is a cute Japanese style hotel within walking distance of the train and Senso-ji-temple as well as the river walk area. It’s far enough away that it’s quiet and you don’t run into the traffic of visitors going to senso-ji. Highly recommend and will stay there again.
4.6
This is a very nice blended modern ryokan with a classic feel and modern amenities. The main Sensouji area is a short walk away and there are plenty of shops and food options. The staff spoke english well and they were very helpful including holding out luggage so we could visit the shops again after checkout and arranging for a taxi to pick us up. We definitely recommend this stay and will visit again.
Disclaimers: we did not have a car and do not know what parking there is like however this is a denser area and looked challenging to drive in.
We did not have time to get the breakfast but the lobby smelled amazing as we left.
4.6
For the price, the Prostyle Ryokan Tokyo Asakusa is an excellent option for those who wish to stay in Asakusa. We stayed in a top floor presidential suite, which provides an open air bathing tub. The bathing area itself is very private and serene. We appreciated they gave different scented mineral bath salts each night for us to use. The beds however were a bit firm but nothing unbearable. The view of the Sumida river and surroundings were wonderful. It is convient to Asakusa station, Tokyo Skytower, Senso-ji temple, and its surrounding market area, which has plenty of shopping, dining, and bars. We were able to go to a theater performance and a sumo show, all within 15 min walking of the hotel (shout out to Asakusa Sumo Club!). The neighborhood is just great, a mix of traditional and modern. The staff acts in a straightforward manner, no attempts at excessive hospitality, but you’re not paying for 5 star service when you stay here. We enjoyed the free tea and coffee in the lobby. Overall, a great price for a great room in a great neighborhood.
4.6
I had a problem with Wifi (it kept connecting and disconnecting repeatedly) and it just took the first hours of my visit to solve this but eventually changing the room helped. Staff solved the situation well, were very fast and helpful.
Few minuses, room service could not provide a coffee to your room, or it wasnt included to limited amentments. I didint choose a breakfast but a day i had time it would have been nice to have a cup of coffee while getting ready. Eitherway I was happy to spot a hair curler in a room service amentments and ordered it, but it was never delivered.
Bath felt nicely luxurious, also the room itself is comfortable, and pretty, and hotel is well located for tourist attractions.
4.6
We loved staying at the Prostyle Ryokan Tokyo Asakusa! The room and view was beautiful as well as our private bath on our balcony. The room was spacious enough for all of our luggage and souvenirs. The staff was super friendly and helpful and we felt very safe! We were also able to hold our luggage at the hotel after checkout and before our flight so we could do some last minute shipping and things for the day. I would definitely recommend this hotel and the Asakusa area to anyone! Lots of amazing things to see.
4.6
A beautiful and relaxing oasis in the middle of Tokyo. What a gem. We stayed in a Japanese style tatami room with partial open air bath and it was lovely! It was so nice to unwind in the outdoor bath after a long day of exploring the city and walking all day. The staff was excellent. Very kind and helpful. Will definitely stay here again if we travel to Tokyo.
4.6
Great location, walking distance to the train. Much to do within the immediate area as well including visiting temple, many food options and plenty of shops. The rooms were much smaller than we expected, not suitable for a day in unless you plan on staying in bed the full time. We had a full size luggage on and a carry-on, bringing this into the room did not leave much space for us to walk. No wardrobe, just a few hangers so could not unpack. The bathroom on the other hand was very spacious. Overall the hotel is immaculately clean. Housekeeping left fresh towels and water at the door daily if cleaning was not requested.
4.6
Quiet, accomodating staff, clean, and walking distance to attractions.
4.6
Enjoyed my stay.

Nice place, friendly staff. The restuarant was lovely as well.
