About this cabin rental
Location in Scenic Mentone on Cool Street less than two blocks from downtown and one block from Brow Park. Lovely 2 bedroom 2 bath authentic log cabin with maximum mountain charm and character. Open living, dining and kitchen on main level with full bath. Large stone wood burning fireplace with vaulted ceiling. Main room opens to screened porch with multiple tables and chairs to enjoy the tree tops and access to outdoor grill area, stairs up from main area to loft with queen bed and spiral staircase down from main living area to private basement suite with twin XL beds, sitting area, bath and lower level screened patio with swing and comfortable sitting area. Lower basement suite also accessible from separate entrance.
Outdoor firepit and sitting area. Firewood is provided for a $25 fee per two night visit, please let manager know if you would like to add this charge.

Charming, well-maintained home on a quiet street, very close to center of Mentone. Awesome sunsets from The
Brow, nearby small city park, just a minute’s walk away. Perfect moments: besides sunsets…spreading our blanket to lay down in the middle of the street late night, looking up at a star-filled sky…walking down the hill to hear a free Celtic music concert. Wonderful stay…100% recommend.

Four long time friends wanted to get together for a rather last minute weekend. Mentone was a convenient location and Red Bird Roost couldn't have been a more perfect cabin for us.
The accomodations were cozy and comfortable. Although small, the kitchen had ample glassware, plates, utensils, towels, etc. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were spotless. The porch was a great place to relax.
We thoroughly enjoyed the short walk to watch the evening sunset at Brow Park.
Finally, the owner was attentive, responsive and generous. We sincerely hope to be back soon!

Last min trip with friends to do some antique shopping in Ft Payne. The cabin was beautiful and peaceful. We never even turned the television on. The restaurants and market in Mentone are fabulous. You are in Alabama but you feel as if you are far away. The atmosphere is just different in Mentone.

My two “forever” friends ( we have been best friends since 6th grade) and I enjoyed a weekend at Red Bird Roost. It was cozy and close to everything! We loved the location! Being on the brow we took a picnic right down the road to a picnic table and watched the sunset We enjoyed Hatters cafe and Wildflower cafe also. We had a great time❤️Highly recommend this cabin

We had a great stay at the Red Bird Roost! Everything was clean and we had everything we needed in the cabin. We enjoyed the short walk down to Brow Park to view the sunsets and having Mentone Market so close by was convenient to grab things we needed. Also loved relaxing on the back porch and enjoying the view from the cabin!

This was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. The cabin has two porches/decks with beautiful views. They were the perfect place to read and enjoy morning coffee. We walked up the street to Brow Park every evening and watched spectacular sunsets. During the day we hiked in Desoto State Park and Cloudland Canyon State Park. There was a market a short distance from the cabin that had really good food and essentials. Also in walking distance there was an exceptional farm to table restaurant called the Elevation Bistro. It is a true farm to table restaurant with a very talented chef. We hope to spend more long weekends in Mentone and will definitely book this cabin again.

Cabin is quaint and cozy, and cute as a button! Great location for walking to the log cabin shopping village and the Saturday morning farmers market while still being located on the brow. Very quiet neighborhood, cabins don’t feel smashed together, felt private even with neighbors. Had central heating but opted to enjoy the beautiful fireplace in the main area which also heated the loft sleeping area and hear the fire crackling. Had everything you needed for a relaxing trip. Owner texted upon arrival so we could contact them if we needed anything. 5 star review isn’t enough, it was perfect and authentic. Mentone at its finest! Will definitely book this cabin again!!!

My husband and our 8 year old grandson stayed for their Boys' Trip. The place and the views were amazing. On the second morning of their stay they were both having allergy and asthma related issues. We surmise that there must have been a cat in the place at some point. Upon there return home, after coming into contact with their clothes, I started having allergy issues.
Also, we paid for wood but could not find the wood that we paid for. The only wood that we saw was the wood in the bin but there was a sign on the fridge that stated the wood in the bin was for the owner so the boys didn't touch it.

My husband and I were in the area for a long weekend and stayed at the Red Bird Roost. It is exactly as shown on VRBO, a cute renovated log cabin. The bed was comfortable. We really enjoyed the fireplace because unfortunately the weather was frigid our entire stay. Because of the weather, we didn't do outdoor things but did do a few day trips and also enjoyed a few area dining spots we hadn't gotten to hit on our prior visits. The owner was very helpful and checked on us a few times. Love the Mentone area!

Staying in this clean, comfortable, well-stocked cabin helped make our Thanksgiving stay in Mentone enjoyable. There were special touches everywhere, even a bit of Christmas, making us smile. Brow Park is a short walk and a perfect place to catch the sunset. And, yes, there were red birds.

We very much enjoyed our stay. We walked to the small shops nearby and to Brow Park - it was too cloudy to see the sunset but we could still see some beautiful pinks and corals on the horizon. This is our third visit to Mentone and we're always finding something new, as far as learning about the history or a restaurant we haven't tried.
The cabin itself was spacious and cozy at the same time, well stocked, and very clean. The owner called to check on us, which was really thoughtful. Communication with the property manager was very good. We didn't have any issues finding the cabin or checking in. We'd be happy to stay again on a future visit.

Loved everything about this cabin; very clean, bed comfortable, so close to “downtown” Mentone. If we could edit one thing it would be the lack of a view due to trees which was weird because its location would give an amazing view (I’ve stayed in another cabin on this street and the view is worth sacrificing the trees right in front).

A charming delightful cabin on the lower brow with all the amenities you need. The cabin is decorated very tastefully with touches of its namesake placed in strategic places. Situated in an ideal location for a peaceful stay home experience but close enough to town to walk.
The cabin is very clean. The screened in porch is nice. The linens and towels smell divine.
It was a nice touch to have the owner call and check if everything was meeting our expectations and it was and more.

It has been awhile since we have had a peaceful relaxing vacation. This cabin was a wonderful getaway for our family. We have stayed in other vacation properties and were pleasantly surprised to find that this one had more amenities than most. The window treatments were a nice addition for the evening since neighbors were nearby, but it was a quiet neighborhood and we had a lovely time. We will definitely keep this rental in mind for the future.

Ideal for quiet girls weekend! Cabin was super clean- decorated beautifully & loaded with charm! Both upper and lower deck had sitting areas for quiet morning coffee & main deck was perfect evening dinner space! Beds are comfortable and a first ever- we had a selection of pillow firmness-unexpected but much appreciated touch! We cook most meals and the kitchen was extremely accommodating-a grill was available but we decided to cook top on the fantastic gas stove- love me a good gas stove!!! Owner personally touched base with us and ensure we were happy with accommodations and made himself readily available for anything we might need. On a scale of 1-10 this is an absolute 12!!!! Oh the view off the decks is SPECTACULAR!!! A must for a peaceful- restorative - getting reacquainted vacay for sure!

This was our third stay at this cozy cabin. We love staying here at different times of the year. There is always something to enjoy, from the warm fireplace in winter to breathtaking views all year round from the back porch.
We stayed nine days this time and cooked several meals. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals.
This is our preferred vacation stay to relax, unwind, read, and reflect.
Kevin is an amazing host who checks in periodically to make sure everything is perfect.

Red Birds Roost is just as it is pictured in the listing. Very centrally located in Mentone and within walking distance to many of the quaint downtown shops and restaurants.

I took my adult son here to reconnect and spend one on one time with. This cabin, and the surrounding town, was perfect for doing that. The cabin was so comfortable and spacious, nestled in the woods on top of Lookout Mountain. A great place to watch birds at eye level while sitting on the porch sipping coffee wrapped in a blanket. An added bonus is to hear the church bells chime, from inside, as a gentle reminder of the time. Everything you need is here to cook, or grill, even a beautiful fireplace inside and pit outside for cozy fires. Kevin is a great host, who knows how to provide well for his guests and makes all feel at home. Highly recommend staying here!
