We cannot wait to return.
This C18 Saddleworth farmhouse is a real find. It has been beautifully restored and decorated. It is 3 minutes walk from the central Conservation Area of Dobcross with the Swan Pub (excellent food, warmth and welcome). The house was wonderfully warm during a cold and wet winter week. Sitting by the Aga in a farmhouse kitchen after an afternoon on the moors of the Peak District (which adjoins Dobcross on 2 sides) or exploring the Pennine mill villages and hill settlements is a delight. The Huddersfield Narrow Canal is 2 minutes away on foot. There are hourly buses through Dobcross and a lovely walk along the Delph Donkey ex railway to Greenfield Station which connects Huddersfield and Manchester. The Pennine Way is accessible either by a good walk or 5 minute drive as is the stunning Dove Stone area within the National Park. Marsden and Stalybridge (the next rail stops through the tunnel on the way to Huddersfield) on the east of the Pennines are stunning mill towns and well worth a visit.
I wish that I could have stayed longer.

this is a real find
location was superb--in a historic Pennine hill village a hundred yards from an excellent pub with variety of walks on paths, or over the moors on the doorstep
I would like to have stayed longer

A Pennine Gem
The furniture and decor was superb in this beautifully restored historic building of 1765 with weavers windows. The surrounding conservation area village of Dobcross. The quiet. The views of Saddleworth Moor from the main bedroom. I have stayed in many places in and around Saddle worth over 25 years---this was by far the best.
There was no welcome pack of tea, coffee and milk

charming little village full of character
The property is over 200 years old and it was very clean, warm and cosy.
It would of been nice to have a welcome pack of a few tea bags and a small amount of coffee. if you arrive after 6 the post office/small corner shop is shut. We paid a lot for just two days and had to be out by 10:00 so less than 48 hours. The one parking spot wasn’t obvious and I phoned ahead to let them know I was on our way but no information was given. So a note was posted through the door while we were out. the bathroom door knob comes off in your hand and there wasn’t any soap in the downstairs loo.

Disappointing
Great actual location once you find it, peaceful area with great views. Kitchen was great and two good sized bedrooms.
Due to the check-in time of 17:00 and no name on the cottage, very difficult to find in the dark! Very disappointed with the cleanliness of the living room, a layer of dog hair all over the carpet and sofas. A few other things such as certain lights not working and door knob missing on bathroom door.
