This place is an older home but it is clean. There is amazing woodwork throughout the house. It is secluded and quiet. The kitchen is well stocked with paper towels. 😀 No paper towels or napkins at any of the places we stayed except this place. I guess I am pretty dependent on my paper towels.

My partner and our two kids plus a friend amd their kid stayed here for two nights (I wish it could have been longer!) while we explored Monteverde. Everything about the reservation and stay were perfect!

We had a wonderful visit at the Forest Garden house. We were very comfortable. Daniella was a fantastic host. We saw monkey, agotai, a toucan, coati, many butterflies and hummingbirds right out our windows. The house was close to everything we needed yet privately tucked away in the forest.

Conveniently located minutes from the town of Santa Elena, this home has everything you need for a comfortable stay! The interior has beautiful wood accents and everything you need to fix a meal or cup of coffee -- which you can enjoy outside in the gazebo! In the mornings you can see agouti in the forest/backyard (who love to eat your fruit scraps)!
Daniella was quick to respond to my messages, there to greet us despite us changing the arrival time (a few times), and she delivered fans immediately upon request!
We highly recommend this home for your stay in Monteverde!

Clean and simple cabin very close to the Monteverde Reserve. We enjoyed sitting in the hammocks watching the birds and critters on the property.

Our family stayed for 3 nights. The accommodation was great - good beds, fully functioning kitchen, quiet and best of all a perfect location ( with a car). We loved seeing all of the animals that roamed around the property.

The property is as described. Daniela was quick and always informative when replying to messages. We were a party of five and there was room for all of us.
Daniela recommended a tour guide to us (George/Jorge) who is excellent. Between the cottage accommodation and fantastic tour guide we had a great few days in Monteverde.

I would definitely have wanted to stay here longer. The property was super clean, well appointed with a large kitchen and laundry, and in such a wonderful location. It was so quiet at night and super close to the cloud forest. Daniela set up a night tour that was fabulous. She is super responsive to all my questions, and I really appreciated that! If you go visit Monteverde definitely stay here! You won't be disappointed in the wonderfully immersive experience that this location provides!

Forest Garden home is very central to Monteverde, which is a delightful Costa Rican mountain town. It was slightly tricky to find the first time, but once there, it is very easy to get around. Plenty of parking for 2-3 cars on the private drive.
In the town, the co-op coffee shop was amazing and restaurant/art shop across the street had slightly pricey, but delicious food. The home is also just a 10 minute drive from the Monteverde Cloud Forest park.
We zip lined, hiked the preserve, and went on a coffee tour all nearby.
The house itself was comfortable, but could use a few improvements. TV was great, and we brought our Roku, plugged it in, and streamed our favorite shows in the evenings. However, all the beautiful couches were very hard. There could be a lot more pillows and cushions. As lovely as the tree couches are, trading them for a few more comfortable chairs/couches would be nice. Also, the lighting in the room was a bit awkward and dark. Kitchen seemed to have most things we needed for basic cooking and the refrigerator was full size and worked great. A new sponge would have been nice. Bedrooms were small and basic, but that is fine. The bathroom could be a bit more finished, but everything worked. Perhaps a few extra towels and blankets around would be nice. Washer and dryer worked fine, and soap was provided.

It was beautiful and in a great location, but I was underwhelmed with the textiles. There were only enough towels for one per person and, in a wet climate, didn't dry very fast. The bedding was very basic, not very comfortable. Seating in living area was not comfortable at all so we didnt have a space for the family to gather and relax. They did have everything you would need from day to day, but owner/manager seemed more worried about guests stealing stuff than they were about guests being comfortable.

Such a beautiful property. We loved the grounds and watching the local wildlife in the mornings. The outdoor areas were lovely to hang out in. The windows were beyond amazing- so clean it felt like you were one with nature. The kitchen was well equipped, location perfect and house sparkling clean. We felt right at home at this beautiful property

Beautiful property 5min from Cloud Forest. Spectacular location. Lovely host, quick to respond.
Two small notes: 1) the driveway is short, but steep and unpaved. 4 wheel drive is advisable in the rainy season.
2) If you have breathing issues, run the dehumidifier all the time. Most of the windows in the house do not open, so it gets very stuffy.
Otherwise a great stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this unique house in monteverde. We really enjoyed sitting out in the hammocks listening to the birds sing and watching for agouti. I would definitely stay again if I am lucky enough to visit monteverde again.

The forest garden house was in an ideal location for Monteverde, wth the town on one side and the biological preserve on the other side. A small grocery store was easy to walk to as well.
The house was just what we were looking for... It has the feeling of being secluded without actually being secluded. We enjoyed the outside area to relax in hammocks, and inside there was a full kitchen, three nice bedrooms, and a really large bathroom. The giant windows made it easy to enjoy the view!
The local property manager was also great. She gave us excellent recommendations for food and a night tour guide!

Nice house with privacy & security. Very accommodating and had everything we needed. Host was excellent to communicate with.

Very nice house, spotlessly clean and quiet (although you'll be waken up by the birds very early). The host was always very attentive to our requests and solve minor issues promptly. We got to see a magnificent toucan from the garden as well as other small mammals. The house is conveniently located near the Monteverde cloud Forest and the Curi Cancha Reserve.

We loved our stay at the Forest Garden House. It was well-maintained, comfortable, and had a quaint, almost lodge-like feel to the house itself. The yard and gazebo were a nice buffer between the forest and the home and provided an easy outdoor space to watch the wildlife. Seeing creatures around here really required as little effort as stepping out the backdoor. One morning a group of toucans roosted in the treetops and we were able to enjoy watching them-while drinking coffee! The location is a close walk to the food coop and Stella's Cafe, as well as numerous reserves, but still feels tucked away and off the beaten path. Our host, Daniela, was responsive and accommodating. This was by far our favorite lodging during our trip-we didn't want to leave. Monteverde is a wonder and the Forest Garden House was the perfect home base to experience it from. I hope we'll be back.

This house is located just past town within walking distance to a handful of restaurants. It is very spacious and the property is also large, so it feels very private. The property manager was excellent.

We loved the cabin and the grounds! The home is cozy and well equipped with beautiful woodworking. It was wonderful to climb under some blankets in the cool weather of the zone and feel like you are right at home. We will be back!

This amazing private location captivated the whole family. We throughly enjoyed our stay and as a family of 5 there was plenty of space. Check in was very easy and we felt welcomed immediately with homemade delicious banana bread. We walked everywhere we went though it was a bit far. Only a few hundred meters away is kitchen Abuela which is the best breakfast yet. Also in the same area is a coffee shop and small market with all the basic needs, all across from Stella’s restaurant. Also the women’s cooperative souvenir shop has many nice options. A bit further on is the mega super with even more variety and more mall-like shopping. 45 min walk to get to the main town Center. We had a tour company drop us off there and walked home. Many big hills and great views along the way. Hosts were fantastic.

We enjoyed staying at this quiet, peaceful location in the forest. The kitchen was well stocked and it was so helpful to have a washer and dryer. It’s a quick drive to Monteverde reserve and easy walk to cafe Stellas and other local shopping and coffee shop. I especially enjoyed time in the outside hammocks.

This is a great house for a family or group. It is hidden in the forest so filled with wildlife. It was a 12 minute walk to nearest coffee shop and restaurant and 30 minute walk to Santa Elena so worked well for us as we didn’t have a car. Tye kitchen was well equipped so we cooked a couple of nights. The nature reserve was 10minutes walk. We zip lined, bird watched, did a chocolate tour and did a canopy tour. Ernest was a great host. Highly recommend.

We stayed in five places during our trip and this was our favorite. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the kind host and carrot bread. The home itself was beautiful, clean and well stocked. The home is surrounded by beautiful trees and each morning we saw toucans in them.

Most things about the house are very good. A few things weren't but we plan to return, if we are able to do so. It's a good place for birders because it has a nice backyard, but it is best to wear boots in the yard.

Loved our stay in this charming home- it offers everything we needed plus more- it was a nice to find Costa Rican coffee and tea with all basic supplies and laundry detergent. We walked everywhere and had lunch at Stella’s a couple times. Tramonti Italian pizza - we had lunch at the tree house in downtown Santa Elena- We went to the Bat Museum walking distance from
The house and kids loved it!! it was the highlight of the trip as live bats were everywhere and we learned so much. We did the hanging bridges and canopy, even my 7 year old did it! The home is beautifully decorated with hand made wood art (headboards, shelves, lamp shades, mirrors) it was a treat to experience this unique home in Monteverde. We enjoyed the hammock outside and completed the children’s’ summer homework outside- it was so refreshing to enjoy the sound of the birds and trees. I recommend this home to everyone including families with small children. We are a family of 5. Monteverde is a perfect place to get away from sophisticated lifestyle to allow for silence and back to nature. We will come back again!

This is a great little place. Lots of birds and animals around the house. And we were up at the crack of dawn for bird watching excursions to Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and Curi Cancha, both of which are incredibly close by.
The house was clean. The dehumidifier is nice but it couldn't keep up and quit running during our first night there because it was full. Simply had to empty it the next morning so not a problem. Obviously this is a high-humidity environment so I wasn't surprised that the house had a slight musty smell.
The kitchen is minimally stocked. There were just enough dishes for the four of us and adequate pots and pans for basic cooking. The washer/dryer were nice--after we figured out how to use them. And there was detergent, dish soap and shower soaps. Thank you so much!
Overall, we were very happy. The house was just what we expected and perfectly met our needs.

The home was well equipped and very spacious. We were able to walk to a couple reserves and the Monteverdi reserve is only a three minute drive away. We were also able to walk for groceries. The shower is wonderful and having laundry facilities was very practical. It is good to know that the driveway to the home is left but also across from a dirt road that turns right. The hostess greeted us with homemade cake and bananas. We felt very welcome.

The Forest garden home was very lovely! It's in a great location and central to many amenities. The house is very well maintained and exceptionally clean. The new mattresses made for a great night's sleep. Yoanna was an exceptional host, she greeted us upon arrival and offered to book all of our tours at no extra charge. When we got a flat tire she arranged to have one of our tours pick us up and then gave us a recommendation on where to fix the flat. The furniture is handmade by Yoanna's family and she even showed us a YouTube of how it's made. This house is great for families.

We wanted to see Monteverde's preserves, but the weather turned nasty (wind and rain) when we arrived. The entire area is very undeveloped, and the place fits that description too. It was a little tricky to find, and because of the rain, the entrance was muddy. The bedroom situation worked for the four of us, but, unfortunately, there was no running water. Check with Kevin prior to arriving to be sure everything is in working order. Kevin and his father were very attentive, and tried their best to get it running. They even came out in the rain on Christmas to work on it! Unfortunately, it did not, and we cut our stay short due to it and the weather. In nice weather, with working water, it would have been fine, and again, Kevin was great in trying to get it fixed and in refunding us for the night we did not stay. My recommendation is to be sure everything is in working condition prior to staying there.
