The cottage and scenery were lovely.

A nice location with lots of space for a family and a unique location with incredible evening sunset views. Located on a marsh teaming with wildlife and a little further beyond the marsh is the lake shallow enough for children to play in although I recommend water shoes due to rocky escarpment. We were visited by Blue Herons, wild turkeys, chipmunks, ducks, frogs and turtles and enjoyed paddle boarding in the lake, reading on the rocks, evening campfires, watching shooting stars and the quiet secluded location away from the Tobermory summer crowds. Would definitely return.

Great cottage for family getaways. Rocky shoreline is perfect for watching sunsets and having a fire. We would rent again for sure.

Our family truly enjoyed our stay. Our group consisted of my husband / me and our two kids, along with my parents. Plenty of space and sleeping options. So much to do around the house! We explored and saw a ton of small animals / critters- which was a blast for our 3year old. House was well stocked. It has definitely been well loved, but adds to the character for sure. We did arrive on some uncharacteristically hot summer days- no central AC but we just kept the blinds close from the sun for those couple of hours. Recommend bringing some small fans if you’re coming in summer, just in case!
Location was perfect for us, far enough away to have great quiet time and close enough to do everything we wanted. Nothing beats sitting on the porch watching the sunset.
Definitely note the trash times and locations- very specific and one of the locations was closed when it said “open” online- the locations are not close so make sure you plan for that!
All communications with Victoria were instantaneous- she was so helpful and kind. Thank you Victoria for a wonderful experience!!

Lovely quiet and private spot with all the amenities you need. We enjoyed the hot tub, firepit and kayaks. The water was a bit low but my boys loved hunting frogs and crayfish. We did manage to go swimming with water shoes. Large living room/ kitchen area was great for playing games and enjoying family meals. I'd highly recommend this spot.

This is a beautiful location, right on the water and close to all the Bruce Peninsula has to offer. The house is also well stocked with recreational boats, marshmallow sticks, firewood, gourmet cooking supplies and more. Hope to come back soon!

Big cottage with lots of room. Nice layout. Interesting shoreline to explore and paddle around although it is not the best for swimming (water shoes are a must). Close to Bruce Penisular NP. Water from the tap has a sulphur smell and taste and we bought jugs of water for drinking in town. Not a fancy, modern, renovated cottage that you would see on Instagram but great for ppl who like things real, down to earth, and lived in (like us).

The cottage itself is great for a large family, with lots of room to spread out. The covered porches are welcome if you have rainy days but still want to be outside, and the hot tub is a lovely way to finish each day. The beds are comfortable, and if you are lucky enough to get the King Room, it is a wonderful oasis. The kitchen is well equipped, though as a suggestion to the owner, you need a new coffee maker and less crowded cupboards so the guests have somewhere to put their food.
The views of the water are lovely, and it is great for canoeing and kayaking. However, the waters edge is not a great place for children to play or swim, as it is rocky and there is not a safe place to enter the water.
There is a lot of standing water on the property, so the bugs can be insane. Best to bring some sort of bug repellant, and lots of afterbite!
Overall I would recommend this cottage to families with older children, or a group of adults - if you can settle on who gets the King Bedroom

This cottage was very spacious and a great place to relax and enjoy nature. It is close enough to town that it was not inconvenient but far enough away that you felt like you were one with nature. Many small animals were around the property. We even had the privilege of seeing a wild turkey family walk buy us on their journey to the lake. Lots of blue jays, butterflies, chipmunks, and rabbits and a turtle were seen on the property. The hot tub was enjoyed by everyone. The water is clear and was warm enough to swim in. The many choices of watercraft were enjoyable also. There were a couple things that would have made it a bit better such as more Tupperware and a better working coffee maker. We figured out how to make it work so it did not cause much of an issue. Also I would highly recommend cutting down the clump of bushes in the front as it needlessly blocks some of the view of the lake, which is so perfectly beautiful. Bring watershoes as the beach is very rocky but so clean and sparkling it didn't mater to us. I would highly recommend.

From the first interaction with our host Victoria, we knew we would love the Sunset Lakehouse! Nestled in the woods right on Lake Huron (with the shallow bay having clear turquoise water), you can't beat the location. We loved the kayaks and wake boards, exploring the bay -- the shallow bay keeps out motorboats, so instead you see loons and herons! We enjoyed the firepit, the hot tub, and just sitting on the covered deck or out by the water.
Only 20 minutes from Tobermory, we also enjoyed some Bruce Trail hiking and the Singing Sands beach nearby. There was something for everybody in our family from 16 to 80!
The time went fast and we would love to come back one day!

Great location, host is amazing and nice.

When we arrived, one feeling that we got from the cottage was “alive”. The sense of aliveness in the cottage, around it, the water and the setting sun, it all felt both relaxing and rejuvenating. The place feels cozy and spacious at the same time. We loved firing the wood burning oven at night, kayaking and paddle boarding before and after our hikes at Lion’s Head and Bruce Peninsula park. Hostess-wise it felt like Victoria was within reach and yet the place felt uniquely ours for the weekend that we spent there. Thank you!

Had a wonderful week at Sunset Lakehouse. Enjoyed the waterviews, SUP and canoeing. Hiked the Bruce Trail everyday and soaked in the hot tub. Fire pits and wood stove were amazing. Total relaxation - thanks Victoria.
