The Berkely Hotel is a charming well maintained hotel in a great location for Richmond (Shockoe Slip). The only negative for me and my wife is that the rooms are dated and need some amenities to be added, most notably power outlets 120 v and USB and a refrigerator. I understand they are starting next year on a renovation plan. Unfortunately, the room rate will go up (most likely) As it is now it is a good value!

Hotel is in desirerable location. Friendly staff. Will be undergoing renovations starting in 3 weeks. Renovations will go floor by floor. Restaurant in the hotel was nice. Valet parking was no more expensive than garages in the area.

We loved this hotel! It was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the historic vibe of both the hotel and the neighborhood. We had a nice meal in the hotel restaurant. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel is pet-friendly. We brought our elderly dog on the trip with us and there were no issues.

We stay here every time I have medical tests in Richmond. Very convenient to VCU, but drawback would be parking. We have been luck every time to find spaces on the street very near the hotel, but $32.00 to park is too much if we couldn't find a space. Occasionally there are sketchy people near the hotel who and we have told the staff who got them to move on. That did not happen this visit-except for the sad homeless guy nearby. Glad the restaurant is open again

Get room with balcony...very nice! Large rooms. Good wifi. Good shower pressure. Close to lots of restaurants. Parking was expensive. Restaurant in hotel...did not eat there but looked good. Will stay again.

The Berkeley was a very convenient hotel for staying in downtown Richmond. Central location and within walking distance to a lot of cool restaurants and bars. I also liked that it was on a cobble stone road. It has a nice historic charm to it as well, but the room could use some more modern upgrades. The man who checked us in was very sweet but the woman who was there at other times could have been more friendly.

Visiting with out of town friends. The hotel was within the historic area we wished to visit and, with the use of Lyft/Uber, we were able too get everywhere. The hotel restaurant was quite good as were the neighboring Urban Farmhouse, Capital Waffle House, and Tobacco Company Restaurant. We recommend the hotel very highly.

Great location, staff was very helpful and nice, hotel and rooms definitely could use some updating, though. We ate breakfast once at the restaurant with good food and good service. There are parking garages across the street, so we didn’t use valet.

A comfortable and enjoyable stay in an older style but very classic hotel,in a very nice and safe area not far from the Rivefron Canal Walk and a good choice of restaurants near by ,also situated within the Hotel is the Chefs Kitchen restaurant and bar but not part of the Hotel ,my room was very nice and the beds very comfortable,a special memtion to the front desk reception lady Starlette who was very helpful and friendly.

Nice property, made to look historic but quite modern. Walkable to restaurants and capital building. Seemed to be only one person as valet/bellman. Plan ahead to get your car-took 40 minutes.

Perfect location for out get-away. Across the street from The Tobacco Company Restaurant which was perfect for our group. The hotel is a little tired BUT the front desk staff was so sweet and we had a very enjoyable stay.

This hotel has been under renovation for about 3 years. The black curtains make it look awful. Front desk was unoccupied for a while when we wanted to check out and check our bill. Kitchen staff was not helpful when we needed ice. Room staff was friendly and nice.

This hotel is pretty dated. The air conditioning wasn’t working in either room we tried. Even the lobby was extremely warm. No microwave or refrigerator. Coffee bar in lobby was stale and not warm. Staff were very helpful and apologetic, and did their best, but it was the worst hotel experience we ever had.

The Berkeley possesses "old world" charm. It's location provides ease of access to many of Richmond's most desirable tourist sites downtown. Some work needs to be done as regards regular maintenance of high-use lobby areas. My wife and I agree that the Berkeley would always be at the top of our list of Richmond weekend stays.

Overall it was a decent experience, staff were friendly. Not the best location for parking but there is a public garage across the street. Valet at $32 is the rate at hotel. No fridge. A/C unit kicked on with a loud clunk. Reading reviews there is talk of renovations for two years.

Cute hotel and location was great! Was able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go. Side note though, booked a king room with terrace over looking the city. Well the room we got was really small and I’m pretty sure it was not a king bed and the terrace is shared with the room next to us. Bathroom is super small too and you have to request a room with a microwave and fridge if you want those. I assumed it was standard. Just read everything about their hotel before staying. The restaurant in the hotel was nice, had an awesome margarita pizza. Overall decent stay for what we needed and was clean. Just wish the room was what I thought we had reserved.
