Old building in need of refurb/TLC. Great location for city centre and Christmas markets, but also close to a few clubs so was a bit noisy at night (though we had a room closer to the clubs, might not be a problem in other rooms)
Buffet breakfast at the weekends when busy, breakfast cooked to order on Monday morning. Good selection of food, though items were running out when busy, and coffee was weak for my taste
Bedroom was clean enough, but public areas were hut an miss
Overall we would return to Chester, but might choose a different hotel next time

Shower was lukewarm and radiator heating could not be turned down. I slept with the window open to cool the room and had a cold shower the first morning. I informed the front desk who later informed me the faults had been fixed. A second night and morning showed that the faults were unchanged.

I want to request refund
Room was terrible, no water in the room. Very dated.
Chef didn’t turn up in the morning so couldn’t have breakfast

The hotel had a lovely Christmas tree and we were greeted by a friendly receptionist. Our room was a nice shape and cosy, as you'd expect for a standard room. It was a bit chilly and we struggled to get it warm. The towel rail in the bathroom did not work and the tea and coffee privided was a bit odd- 5 small milks and one small packet of biscuits between the two of us.Our room was serviced and the bed made, as expected. Used glasses were not removed or replaced and still no more biscuits.
We just felt that there wasn't much care. We had an email to say we could use the leisure facilities only to be told , by the barman, that 'we don't have any! People think theres a golf course and we don't even have a snooker table!' I feel this sums it up wuite well.

Very kind and helpful staff, fantastic find when unexpectedly unable to get home from Christmas shopping trip.

Great location in middle of Chester City Centre
Really helpful and friendly reception staff
Decor is in need of updating but hotel is clean
Plenty of choice at breakfast and the restaurant staff couldn’t have been more pleasant and helpful

Hotel looks nice from the outside and on the pictures, but the room I stayed in was in a very sorry state. I booked a deluxe room and when I got in, the shade on the bedside lamp was hanging at a funny angle so I straightened it and the whole thing fell off leaving exposed electrical connections. I fixed this one for them. The toilet seat was hanging on by only one fixing. Not great. The bath is under the window so the shower sprays the window sill which is consequently rotten and covered in mould. I felt like I would get more dirty just by getting in the shower! The room was very sparce and nothing like the lovely picture for a deluxe room. Dressing gowns were provided but they weren't hung up, they were just screwed up in a ball on one of the shelves in the wardrobe which made it look like they hadn't been changed from the last occupant.
Reception staff were very polite and the breakfast was nice but the hotel is in need of some TLC I would say.

All these bad reviews i was getting about this hotel was nonsence this hotel was old fashined yes but it has class we had a perfect stay at the blossoms the beds were so comfortable the shower was perfect and the staff were so helpful thank you blossoms for a perfect couple of days we will be back

We had a room looking onto the main street which became very noisy at night.
Saxophonist, drunken groups, street cleaners and a 2 am delivery with serval crates of product made for an awful sleep.
Considering this was a family room I'm surprised they put kids there.
The room itself was above Lush so if the window was left open your nose burnt from the smell of the shop.
There were patches of mold on the ceiling in both the bedroom and the bathroom. The cleaners don't do an amazing job considering we were finding Primark clothing stickers on the floor and curtains from previous occupiers.
The bed sheets do not cover the beds when made into a double as soon as you sit on it they move and may as well not be on the bed.

I would say this isn’t really a hotel for families. More of a one night party hotel. The extra Z beds offered for the children were unsuitable, one had no springs down the side! When we let the hotel know they said thanks? Breakfast was average and took and eternity to arrive and the bar is only open on a Friday and Saturday.
If you are couple looking for somewhere to stay in Chester for a night and not have to get a taxi it’ll do. Although the travel lodge is only another 100m down the road!

No aircon and the room was very warm due to heating constantly blasting out from the bathroom radiator.
Cobwebs in the bathroom and bedroom.
4.0
We stayed as part of a Hen party. Room was very dated, there was hair in the bath and on the bathroom floor. Stiflingly hot even with aircon on. Lots of noise from nearby venues.
On the morning of Che k out we were in bed and someone let themselves in thinking the room was empty! Not acceptable
2.0
Hotel is tired and unclean- dust and cobwebs. Dirty corridor carpets. Dusty rooms
3.0
Great place and lovely staff, in fact awesome staff but bed was the most uncomfortable zip up - advertised as a king it was a zip up with a hard ridge that mean tee had a very poor sleep
4.0
Check in was great, staff helpful and kept our luggage safe until we could check in at the correct time. However, the room had a terrible outlook, overlooking a low wall that had public convenience tiles on it, with large holes. We went for a nightcap in the bar, but it had no Baileys and no brandy. Also, the coffee machine was not in operation, although the barman did get us some hot water and coffee sachets, which we didn't pay for as this was avaliable in our room. The hotel is in a fabulous location for shopping and viewing locations, but let down by the above.

very good hotel stay there if I’m in Chester

Pleasant hotel right in the heart of the city. Staff were friendly and really helpful. Room was basic but suited our needs .

Very noisy from street noise till 4 am in the morning
Shower was not very hot
Bed was very uncomfortable
1.0
Booked a single room, yes it was very small but bed wasn’t even long enough. It was like it was cut to fit in a space
Tv on wall at foot of bed, so ended up kicking it all night.
Windows were filthy, hadn’t been cleaned outside for years, and inside for months
No plug near bed,
Bathroom furniture chipped and water pressure useless.
Overall this was a 1 or 2 star hotel at most

Very beautiful hotel 🏨 clean and very tired. The rooms are good 5 stars. But wish the bar was open.

Very tired hotel in need of refurbishment! I specifically asked for a quiet room in advance and there music playing through the night. When I was asked about my stay the receptionist basically told me I was wrong! Such a shame as it is in a good location but I would never stay there again!

Another pleasant stay in this nice hotel

It was generally nice. - but I thought the room was a bit tired looking - marks in the bath for example
Also drilling at 9 am on a Sunday morning- looking for competing this

Fantastic experience staff were welcoming, room was stunning and the bed was very comfortable.

broken furniture in 1st room, 2nd room offered was like a box, 3rd room was not clean carpet dirty, had to ask for an hairdryer, broken glass in bathroom.
2.0
When we arrived on Thursday night we were informed their Restaurant was no longer open of an evening and breakfast was only served between 7.30 and 09.00. The bar is apparently closed on a Thursday evening although not mentioned on there website.
Thats why in my opinion this is closer to a motel than a hotel
2.0
While most of the staff were extremely helpful, there was one particularly rude woman serving breakfast. Rather shocked to find only instant coffee available - did not expect to have to provide our own coffee when we paid separately for what was apparently an 'award winning' breakfast. Will be unlikely to stay in a Macdonald hotel again.
3.0
The hotel was ideal for our stay in Chester. It was reasonably priced and the staff were helpful and friendly. However, we had paid for breakfast and assumed that it would include fresh coffee. We were given instant coffee, which was put into cafetières and palmed off as fresh coffee. This was unacceptable. When we questioned it, we were told they had no fresh coffee. This was the case throughout out our stay and we were forced to buy our own coffee. Not acceptable.
6.0
Staff on reception so lovely. Room hot as the bathroom radiator very hot. Seagulls sadly very noisy at night.
8.0
The hotel was in a great location, close enough for shopping, dining and nightlife.
Although the room was clean, as in bedding and bathroom, the room itself was very tired and in need of updating. It served its purpose of a last minute overnight stay, but probably wouldn’t stay again at that price while its in its current state.
Staff were polite and friendly.
3.0
Bed was very uncomfortable and a cramped room.
5.0
Lovely hotel and a superb location. The room was extremely roomy and comfortable I would definitely recommend staying here
10.0
The staff at reception are so kind and personable. The room we booked was spacious and clean. It is a bit dated in areas but nothing you wouldn’t expect for such an old building. Bed was comfortable and coffee/tea tray was lovely. Walkable to every attraction you would want to see, as well as shopping and restaurants. Recommend!
10.0
Great hotel, highly recommend. In the city centre which is perfect.
4.0
Great location. Small room with no view, A/c units directly outside the frosted window. Room was very warm, so had to open window and use fan (shame about the ugly view). Room was ok, dated decor but clean. Front desk staff were very pleasant.
