Its was honestly amazing for the price I've stayed at sh*tholes for more.

The beds was built on wooden planks that’s slides not a good stable bed the key to the room only work part time kept having to go get a new key

This hotel is run down to the point the ceiling is peeling in multiple locations in the room. There is no dresser in the room and only one bath towel in the bathroom. Hallways are dirty and depressing. I checked in around 9 AM and they charged me $50 then I had to wait at the room door while maintenance fixed the door key mechanism. The woman at the check in desk was nice and so was the maintenance man. I had to check out after only spending a few hours hours in the room. The hotel and room just has a 'gross' feeling.

The hotel and room was dated but clean. Front desk and check in was pleasant. Fall colors were nice from our balcony. The train noises late in the evening were disruptive.

The room was quite dirty, I worried about getting in the shower.
The ac was broken and it was sweltering. I called the front desk and they brought us a broken box fan.
The view was great!

Facility is beginning to show its age. Wall behind toilet had peeling paint, cracked bath tub, wall in bedroom had red splash stains (originally thought was blood, but trying to clean it, I believe now is nail polish). Facility was clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was perfect. Parking lot was large enough to handle our F150, and lots of restaurants within walking distance. Several homeless on streets, but had a fun stay.

Old, tub was nasty and dirty couldnt even take a shower here. No heat blowing out cold air......
TERRIBLE

Forty years ago I stayed at Red Lions around the country, so I had high expectations. The facility was run down. While clean, the shower had simply been whitewashed (with paint on the chair in the living area). The towels were very thin and small, whereas the pillows on the bed were enormous and heavy. The temperature in the room was not easily controlled and all ice machines were out of order. Very sad.

Building is in poor condition. Bathtub was coated with house paint, which was peeling due to exposure to water. HVAC has only one mode at a time for the entire building. In mid-September, it had been switched to heating mode. The previous guest had left it on high, so room was sweltering. The room's toiletries had a very strong smell, reminiscent of Axe body spray, so the room felt and smelled like a Dj's armpit. The balcony was about 12 inches deep. One staff manages the desk alone so all exterior doors except one are locked. This means that if you park in the back, you then need to walk around most of the building to get in.

We had a horrible experience. We had 2 rooms, and in one of them, the door mechanism was defective and I got locked out of my room for an hour, with my purse and keys inside, until the maintenance guy could be tracked down. They were aware of the problem as the door had a sticker of the special way to open the door (which didn't work). I had to keep calling the front desk as they didn't follow up to see if the situation had been handled. At night we discovered that the deadbolt was also defective and did not lock. In the other room we had, the bathroom door was hung crooked and did not close. The sliding glass door was loose and at 3 am when I went to close it, the entire heavy glass door fell off and crashed outward onto the balcony railing - on the 8th floor! Through all of this I was treated with condescension by staff, and when I asked to speak to the manager I was told she was in a meeting and couldn't be disturbed. Just a terrible experience. Also the hotel is in disrepair and a lot of things are just janky. I would not recommend the Governor despite its great location.

Was great last minute trip. The faucet in the tub/shower did have the hot and cold water flipped though.

The bathroom was not clean paint on the shower curtain marks in the toilet. The molding on the room wall was peeling off . It was so bad I canceled the second day stay and went to a different hotel. I am not sure what I need to get a refund for the second day.

Outside is a little bit crazy after dark but overall it’s in a walkable location. It’s an older hotel/property but close to food, dining and bars

This hotel is really showing it's age. The a/c in my room was barely adequate. The included breakfast was cold (as in no warm dishes) and not really worthwhile. The building wasn't properly secured/locked.

Location was convenient, staff was nice, but facilities were old and not well maintained. Peeling paint in bathroom, really thin small towels. Beds way too soft. Lingering old smoke smell.

Good place to lay your head and explore downtown Olympia.

Front desk was super nice. 10 stars for the value. Older hotel, but clean. Shower didn’t drain well, but no big deal. Two minute walk to tons to do in the downtown. Free parking huge plus !
We didn’t need the air conditioning, but if we had to use it, it would be a big problem. Crazy loud, but we turned it off and didn’t need it as we are in the Pacific Northwest. Would absolutely stay there again.

Literally watch a man shooting up in the parking lot upon arrival.

Historic building and area; interesting historical discussion with the person at the front desk.

Our first room had a bathtub that would not stop running and a broken bathroom door that wouldn’t close. They had no one to fix these issues and no other rooms available. They said they couldn’t refund us and we would have to work things out with Expedia if we wanted our money back, and that we couldn’t cancel because we already checked in. Someone else canceled and they were able to get us into a different room. This room also had a leaky spout. The whole building was very dirty, smelled like cigarettes, and was beat up. Type of place that makes you worry about catching an infection. Save your money, sleeping in your car will be a better experience. Front desk guy was nice though.

Supposed to have Tesla charging but didnt

The shower was dirty. Carpet was dirty. Air conditioner would not adjust and it was loud. Front desk staff were good but the cleaning staff should be remediated or fired.

The bathtub liner was pealing, the railing on the porch on the 4th floor was shaky and rusty, and the vending machines and the ice machines were all broken. Breakfast consisted of only cereal, and no coffee. Do not recommend if you have children the neighborhood was very sketchy.

I love this place.

Hotel was at once top of the line; however, it is not updated. Looks like a 1970’s throwback. Very old rooms. Very good location to explore downtown so if your not spending much time in hotel it will do.

Our experience with the front desk was great - check in was smooth and the clerk was helpful, friendly - he was lovely. However... there are definitely some updates needed - the towels were threadbare, the was not a hair dryer in the room, the overall feel was just dated. Would book again, but will bring our own personal amentities from home.

2024 August: As a frequent visitor to this hotel over the this summer (and as far back as the early 2000s) this visit was punctuated by lost sleep from hobo fires (plastic and meth) in the rail tunnel next door [wafting through window and interior stair well to hallway], late night unhoused street arguments, etc…and our room was up high on the seventh floor. The staff is very responsive and professional while making the best of a situation. (See my photos on Google maps.)

The hotel stay was adequate. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Staff was very nice. Room was sparsely appointmented. Only one chair, one bedside table. It was supposed to be an accessible room but the toilet was positioned too close to the vanity; it was awkward for able bodied people. The water pressure was great, but temp varied from comfortably warm to scalding. Ice makers were all out of order.
8.0
Courteous staff, comfortable clean beds, and good price. Building was dated with ceiling tiles crumbling and carpets in room were a bit sticky (keep your shoes on until last minute when you jump in to bed). Needs a makeover for sure, but I had a good sleep and hit the i5 after eating some boiled eggs (breakfast included), not bad.

Sadly one of the hotels we treasured has really declined. The staff appoligized after we found a pizza box in the fridge and shared photo of the bathtub and expressed our frustration trying to turn a lamp off only to find the hand turn switch was broken and required unplugging. Apparently the switch was by the door in. However lamp was furthest away by our bed. We have always turned it off without any troubles before in all our stays. We were due to stay again in a week but my family is insisting we do not ever return. The winderful waffle (you make) breakfast is gone and there is no longer anything warm. The juice machine was broken. The breakfast to be fair I know with the inflation it has been difficult for businesses. So cold options and coffee are fair, we have just come to love our experiences at the Red Lion and this trip went from a 4/5 star experience to 1☆ Apparently there are renovations to start in December 2024. For those who have loved the Red Lion in Olympia as we did, it does not resemble the hotel we always returned to.

This is a great location for visiting Olympia. Walking distance to many shops and restaurants but the hotel is getting more run down by the day. This was our second time staying here and in our “Premium” room, the safe was broken, window/door wouldn’t open because the tracks are bad so there is no fresh air, the shower is leaking/dripping, the shower can’t keep consistent temperature so it was either scalding or cold and the bathroom is very old. The good news, the best is comfortable. Overall, hallways and hotel needs a lot of work.

Property was not anything like the photos. The room was a mess, stains on the furniture and on the carpet. Carpet was partially ripped off the wall baseboards. Two of the lamps fully didn't have outlets to plug into, so the room was either dim or you had to open the curtains all the way and expose yourself. Bathroom was tiny, inconvenient, and the shower constantly fluctuated in temperature if anyone on the floor was using water. You could literally have it turned all the way to cold and boiling water would start spewing out. Do not recommend. Stay nearly anywhere else.

Temperature outside was hot duringour stay. Our room faced the sun. No AC only a fan that didn't cool the room much. It was ok for a short two night stay. Will not choose this property again. Another guest we met on the elevator, who had a hot room, asked to be moved. He asked us while in the elevator if we ever stayed at this property.. we answered no ..he asked if we would ever stay again...we both said no.

I’m so sorry but I wasn’t comfortable the minute I walked in the hotel. It had a strong smell of cigarette the entire place. Checking in was easy. But I was asked for $50 extra deposit despite paying the full payment for the night online. This has never happened. Receptionist specially told me that deposit is for any damage cause to the room (if there’s any)which made me feel like I’m in not a safe area. Smell in room was horrible and restroom wasn’t super clean.

The property is run down and dirty. The bathroom is very old snd badly needs repair. The AC doesn't cool the room.
The reception staff are non interested in the customers and seem not interested in the job. Very cold and unhelpful

Most disgusting room I've ever been in. There was a random half drank Mt. Dew on the bathroom counter when I got into my room. Accompanied by fingernails and maggots. The stickies, most disgusting remote I've ever seen. The cover on the rooms phone was tore off exposing the inside of the phone. I asked for a new room, and he moved me to a different floor. When the elevators opened you're blasted with the smell of cat urine in your face you won't soon forget.

Very close to the water!
