This our second stay at the Belle Claire.
The renovation was beautifully done.
We had no internet service for the final 2 days - after first beingvtoldcthere was no problem, the manager later explained they were upgrading their system.
I would have loved some environmental awareness such as recycling bins or pitchers of water, etc.
A coffee maker and refrigerator in the room would have been nice since its such an expensive neighborhood.

We booked a King Premier room. As on the website it clearly states the room is 325 sq feet. We decided to book this room rather than the much smaller room which was a lower price. When we got to our room, after requesting if any upgrades were available and we were told the hotel was booked, our room was tiny with a closet and bathroom that couldn’t be open at the same time. I measured the room as under 200 sq feet. Upon checkout i asked to be refunded the difference and they had the manager call me, but he never did so i called and Christian, the manager, told me every room is a different size and they vary. I made it clear that on the website it doesn’t say vary? Or anything other than 325 sq feet. We booked with our dog and it was too small but we made due. The manager wouldn’t entertain our request. He was quite rude and insulting. I will be filing a grievance and if Hotels.com can’t intervene I will be filing complaints with the BBB, Ny State attorney general and reviews that will be detrimental. I explained this to Christian and he was to call me back by end of day. Alas he did not!

Normal hotel below moderate.

When we landed we wanted a quick bite. The hotel restaurant was hosting an event for Derby weekend so the only restaurant was closed our 1st day. They don’t serve dinner on Mondays but don’t notify guests or post notices. This hotel doesn’t have room service if that is something you want.
Great location! Walking distance to everything. Close to the park & metro service.

Charcuterie was the best at the lounge
front desk staff; Bently was excellent

Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel rooms were small but updated. It's a good location for upper west side...close to the #1 subway. Cafe downstairs was just ok.

Fabulous staff , so attentive, excellent suggestions to do and eat in the area
Adorable vintage room. Comfortable bed. Bathroom wasn’t the cleanest unfortunately, husband pulled out clump of hairs from shower and sink.
Little loud due to being next to exhaust or air system, but the room itself and hotel is quiet. Not on high street traffic.

It was good! I wish the bathroom was bigger for the amount of money that we paid, but other than the the stay was very accommodating and wonderful.

I thought it would be better. On average it was good enough as far as the room was concerned. Tub was slippery. Towels very nice and lobby , cafe next door and desk service very nice. It’s still a lot of money for good enough. Over $300 per night. Plus resort fee. Location is great. But we had heat issues, and a day we went out , notified the desk we’d be back in several hrs and the room could be cleaned during that time. Returned 2 hrs later and no housekeeping during that time. I was told it was because our do not disturb sign was on… and it was not. We removed it on leaving the hotel and when returning to room it was absolutely not on. So that was pretty strange.
We had to leave so it could be cleaned,
Would I stay there again? If I could get it at a cheaper rate, yes. But that’s not likely.

We enjoyed our stay so much. Everyone was very courteous, especially with our early arrival. The room was clean and comfortable. The hallway needed vacuuming on the fourth night of our stay, but was clean other days, so may have been a factor of short staff. Loved the vouchers at the French bakery!

The room looked nothing like the ones online when booked it. Beds lovely. Getting breakfast was not fun. Plenty of people pressed in to a little cafe to pick up breakfast. All in all ok but nothing more. Wouldn’t book again

I wish i had known i would have been looking at a wall and venting before booking the room. I would have gladly paid the extra money. The cafe was good but the allure restaurant needs more menu options.

Great staff, very clean room and hotel. Convenient to subway and other destinations. Bathroom was extremely small and had issues, but overall a good experience.

Nice hotel, great location for our visit. The rooms are small. Our room, labeled as Deluxe Queen when rented, had absolutely NO room in the bathroom for anything at all. Very small room. Also, the shower was almost dangerous. Nice and professional front desk staff.

The room was the smallest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. No coffee maker in room.
And we were promised a bottle of wine,I was given a small bottle of red wine, I said I only drink white. But that was not available and they just shrugged at me, oh well

The service is excellent, so is the cafe adjacent to the hotel which you get a breakfast voucher for, but the room was tiny and the floor was dirty, the wifi was weak, so getting some work done was hard.

Belleclaire is not just one of the best run, best staffed, local/international hotels in NYC, it’s competitive internationally. Everyone tries their hardest to accommodate any reasonable request. We lived here for 40 years, only recently moving out of state. If you want a genuine taste of NYC and the Upper West Side of Manhattan, you can probably spend a lot more money, but you will NEVER be able to match the Belleclaire for authenticity. (Special shoutout to Benedict at the front desk!)

this hotel was in a great location if you want to be on the upper west side. The room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable and the pillowcases were soft. The maid service was good. The front desk was friendly. There were just a couple of problems 1) there is no coffee maker, and no refrigerator in the room and there is excellent free coffee and good food at the bakery which they give you as part of your room but if you go at the wrong time it can be extremely crowded and I'm very long wait and there is no coffee that you can just go and get yourself between eight when the breakfast room is very crowded on a weekend as I did. The other major problem was that there's only two elevators, and they are very tiny and so it will take a very long time to get up and down if you're on one of the below of floors, the stairs are accessible. I probably would not want to stay there again, because I need to be in a place that has coffee as soon as I get up, and that was not possible here due to the super long line in the breakfast cafe and the lack of a coffee maker in the room, and when I went to the front desk, the person said " what do you want me to do?".

Amazing.
Nice, clean units. Staff is friendly. Hotel Bar is fantastic. The bakery in the lobby is amazing. 1 block from American Museum of Natural History, with plenty of restuarants all around. 12 out of 10

Affordable for the area. I didn’t eat at the restaurant, but the cafe was delightful. I also used the fitness centre which was well-equipped.

Felt like a boutique hotel. Lovely staff. Restaurant/bar was expensive and not open every day. Or did not serve meals. Breakfast vouchers were a great idea. Lovely almond croissants.

Staff was very helpful and responsive. The only negative was the belligerent flight crews staying at the hotel

We like the fact that there's more space and a bit less frantic than the mid-town area. Of course there's also Zabar's

Very reasonably priced. Room is very basic but that's enough for me. I like the atmosphere. It's clean. Great location. Café with voucher for breakfast is wonderful. I would definitely go back.

I booked a deluxe king at a very good price at this hotel. We have stayed here a few times and have always enjoyed the place and the neighborhood. We are very familiar with the Upper West Side, having owned an apartment there many years ago. We generally give the hotel and its team 5 stars. This time they assigned us a room that was totally designed for handicap accessibility and obviously meant for someone who might have difficulty with showering, use of a sink, etc. - the shower drain is in the middle of the bathroom and there are no doors on the shower. There is minimal furniture for obvious reasons. It is admirable that the hotel is thinking of inclusion issues and the room was well thought out---for that population. Franky, we weren't sure why there wasn't a HOLD on the room. However, it seems a little problematic to provide this type of "deluxe king" room to repeat customers who have no such issues. When I brought this to their attention at check out time, there was no offer to do anything to address their mistake. We will probably return to the hotel and count this as a misfire but it certainly put a damper on the weekend.

This place was lovely. Clean. And the service was great. Not close that most of the touristy thing but we were not bothered by this. You will need to taxi or subway to walk to all of these things

Landmark prewar building and lovely boutique hotel. Nice premium room, very quiet, elegant decoration. The bathroom was simple but beautiful. I just wished the window could open. Staff very nice. Breakfast at the French Mille-Feuille café downstairs was perfect.

Great location, very clean and comfortable room, and very friendly staff. Would definitely stay there again!

Great location and helpful staff. The French bakery off the lobby is wonderful as were the coupons the hotel offered to the bakery and their restaurant, Allure, for each night's stay. On the eco-friendly front, the hotel needs to update to mounted toiletries like shampoo, body wash and conditioner in the shower stalls to reduce single-use plastics. They could also not provide plastic water bottles for each room and encourage guests to bring reusable water bottles.
