Excelent value for the price. Beautiful beach setup with chairs, beds and umbrellas. Very nice staff, good food, family oriented. Hotel is a bit outdated but kept very clean. Everyone tries to be helpful even that most of the staff dont speak English. I enjoyed beeing surrounded by the Mexicen families with very well behaved kids. Outside of the hotel is kept neet and tidy around the pool.
I was just a bit disapointed by the end. We needed late checkout and I was ready to pay 1000 mx pesos what they asked for, but turned out that would be per person. So paying 300CAD to stay 2 to 3 hours more didn’t realy make sense.

The hotel was clean but I paid a lot of money for a suit and my guest ended up sleeping on the floor since the sofa bed was not comfortable. The mattress was to thin so it made it uncomfortable. The staff was great there were a couple of members who went above and beyond and exceded my expectations, Norma in charge of the bathrooms was great. Beatriz and Salvador in the buffet were great. Both Jose’s at the Mexican restaurant were great and last but not least pinky at the buffet was great. My kids and I had a great time

They tried to give me a double bed room when I paid for a King room and the AC leaked the third day, phone kept ringing in the room. I’d recommend hiring a translator.

All the staff are so wonderful, year after year. Special thanks to Salvador for always making us feel at home and part of the family. This was my 5th stay (2nd for 2024), and I can’t wait to return.

Building is very outdated

The property looked as if it was once well kept but that is not the case anymore. The pictures on the website are deceiving and make the pool amd kids park look bigger than they actually are.
The first meal(dinner) was clearly the food recycled from lunch. This was confirmed when many of the same dishes were served at breakfast the next morning. As a result of this my wofe got food poisoning and was ill for two days.
When I went to get water for her I was informed that bottles of water were not included with the "all-inclusive" and I was forced to pay for water for my sick wife.
We decided to move to a better resort after less than 24 hours. At no point in dealing with the staff was I asked why we were leaving or offered anything resembling an apology.
The resort refused any sort of refund despite the fact that we were there for less than 24 hours of a seven night stay.
Needless to say do not go to this resort. It is over priced for the terrible quality.

Older property, staff was decent. Very musty on arrival, but turned on A/C and got a bit better. Room very dated and taps all leaked - some things clearly not cleaned between guests. Lights in room left much to be desired. No balcony. Beds were comfortable. Overall it was ok, no great value for the $$ paid to stay but location was good and the grounds are beautiful. Pools good. Worked for what we needed. Def a 2 maybe 2.5 star.

Our problems began when we arrived at the front desk and learned that our Expedia reservation was not acceptable. The front desk staff were unhelpful and indifferent. Only when we called for the manager did anything get resolved. We found the room and the pool area to be good. The staff were excellent and friendly. The buffet however was bland overheated and overcooked. On one occasion at the food station near the pool our hamburger was raw and had to be returned. The second attempt was also undercooked. Both of us got sick during our stay while taking all precautions. It's hard to determine the cause. The activities at the pool were good and the evening entertainment was okay. Overall we would not recommend the Samba.

The staff is great.
Family friendly for children.
Activities all day.

The property is over 40 years old so gardens and greenery is well established and beautiful. There are many different types of birds and also many iguana's on the grounds which I think are really cool. We have used this resort for many years because it is small, the staff is awesome and it is a quiet family oriented option. we love it.
5.0
Great stay. Older resort but kept nice and clean. Great place for families as it's a smaller resort and easy to get around.

This hotel is fantastic for families with young kids. We have two kids ages 3 and 5 and the pool set up is perfect for kids of these ages (as well there are pools for older ages, I should mention). There is a shallow little kids pool and waterslide as well as a larger, slightly deeper pool and waterslide set up for the older kids.
The Kids Club was also excellent with fun crafts and activities for the kids to do.
Really, really nice grounds and although we only made it to one nighttime show, it was excellent and family friendly as well.
Great, quiet location in Nuevo Vallarta.

We had a great time! The staff were very nice and accommodating. Great access to the beach or lounge by the pool. They had plenty of dining options but we found the buffet to be the best! Salvador and Bruno at the bar were extra friendly and provided great service!
2.0
We started out a little rough due to the hotel not finding our reservation but nice that was straightened out (no thanks to the manager, David) we ended up having a lovely time. The service was great and the food was generally ok. I would recommend sticking with the buffet. The Italian restaurant food was sub-par, especially considering it required reservations. Overall, the entertainment and beautiful surroundings made this an experience I would recommend.

We enjoy Samba for it's small size, staff, and location on the beach. The rooms are clean, beds comfortable, and the food is fine.

Property is old needs work. Food was okay and the staff excellent. Very small resort not crazy busy. Was fun being there with family and grandsons. Would not return. Nothing to do outside of resort.

This was a very family friendly resort. Lots of families with children. The pool was great for adults and children alike, the children's pool had a safe depth for younger kids.
Facilities were constantly being cleaned and tidied. Very clean resort.
Food was average. It's not fancy which suited us fine. Expect a lot more of traditional Mexican food vs Western food. There were theme nights at the buffet and 2 other restaurants you could book and choose from. Uortunately we did have one restraunt experience where our food was extremely salty, but I'm expecting that was a one off issue as our previous experience was better. Buffet was very busy at peak times but the staff did well at trying to keep up with replenishing food, drinks etc.
This resort offers a lot of activities and has evening shows to enjoy. Expect that there will be music playing through the resort through the day so its not the quietest resort but this didn't bother us to much.
The property definitely shows it's age and has some things that are falling apart. There are things that are in a bit of disrepair and one of the rooms we had booked had issues with a smell in the bathroom. It's a nice small resort though and easily navigated and isn't a long walk to your room if you forget something which is nice.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and felt welcomed and safe at the resort. Location was great for beach activities, and us 30 minutes from the airport by taxi. We would stay again in the future.

The Samba is an older property, but it has been maintained well inside and outside. Caretakers work hard every day. Lots of sand sweeping, cups and garbage was pick up all the time and the pool workers were very diligent in keeping the pool clean of sand and "floaties". We loved the pool beds! A very happy lady (sad I didn't get name)washed the stairs up to our fourth floor using soap and water and a scrub broom every day!
The front desk girls(Karen/Nicole)were very strict with keeping us within the Samba's rules, but always courteous. Carlos, our bellman, was so welcoming and kind! We changed rooms after checking in and he promptly delivered our bags to our new suite. Thanks Carlos!
Our servers were amazing and made our meal times enjoyable - Genaro, Salvador, Ivan at the beach.
The most spectacular person was Berenice, who ran the Kid's Club! Our 8 year old granddaughter went every day, just because of Bere! They formed a very special bond. She made a special going away gift for Q, which I know she will treasure, always. Thank you so much Berenice!
We always found something good to eat at the buffet. Some of our group's favorites were the fresh guacamole, pico, chips, omelet station and the carrot cake! The beef and steak did not measure up (we love Canadian beef) but, we always found good options from a large selection.
We look forward to visiting again. Thank you to all who made this a great vacation for our family. Group of 5 adults, one child(8 years old)

It could have been a better quality stay mainly due to the food quality but was what I was expecting from prior reviews and for the age of this resort...

This resort is mediocre at best for room quality. The food was good. Bar tenders are excellent! Beach is very nice! The room we reserved was supposed to have 2 double beds but when we arrived it had a king bed (which was nice) but then had a twin XL placed into the room which had a mattress that felt like a box spring and was terrible! The pass through door to other room didn’t have a door handle or lock on it so the other room next to us could open their door and been able to walk into ours, when we arrived at the room we asked them about this and they told us no one was staying in that room and not to worry about it but about 3 hours later when we came back to our room after checking out the area there was a deadbolt that was reversed so we would need a key to open it and screws on the door frame so the door wouldn’t open from the our side and there were guests in the other room but nothing saying they had entered our room but a letter was left requesting us to go to the front desk. We went to the front office they didn’t tell us about the door but instead told us that they undercharged us by 84 pesos, approximately 5 dollars and required us to pay it! When we asked about someone going into our room they said oh yeah, we fixed it and that was it. The bathroom was falling apart, the tissue holder frame is metal and when I pulled a tissue out it fell out on my foot! There is no fan in the bathroom so smells are bad! It was noisy from staff carts at all hours!

Staff was amazing

It is an old hotel and showing it's age, but it was very clean and comfortable. Staff were constantly cleaning. The grounds, pool and beach were all beautiful. There were plenty of chairs at the pool area and plenty of palapas at the beach. The resort is one of only a few resorts that has palapas at the beach. The staff were very friendly and seemed very happy all the time. We were a party of 4 adults and really enjoyed ourselves. We felt very safe walking the area.
4.0
A smaller older property on the beach.Staff and service was excellent.Food was a good variety for buffets. The restaurants were very good.
Internet was good.We had a lot of noise at night from the hotel beside us from their nightclub but it would be fine on the other side.Would stay there again.
5.0
Great resort for a family. Kids are 10 and 7, they both enjoyed it as well as us. Resort was quiet and not huge so you aren’t walking miles. Staff is friendly and takes time to get to know you, everything was clean. Food was great, always something for the kids to eat, beach was awesome for swimming and relaxing as well. Coolest thing is the amount of iguanas on the property. So fun to see and watch. Wifi was decent as well.
Only cons would be the building is old and outdated but if you can look beyond the appearance this is a great resort for families with lots of kids running around.
Also, there wasn’t a whole bunch of activities from the staff like most resorts (volleyball/water polo, etc), but that could have been due to not as many people around the pool at those times when they were supposed to start.
5.0
Very much enjoyed this resort. The staff, food, extracurricular options & equipment and rooms were amazing. The resort is on the smaller size which was very nice for getting around and getting familiar with the staff and layout. I’d highly recommend it!

Very expensive and property needs a lot of repairs. The room also had a bad odor so we hardly stayed in the room. The only thing that was decent was the food and the staff. I don’t think we will ever be back.

Resort is an older one and is aging gracefully. Two water pipes leaked while we were there, staff repaired the problem but friends of ours needed to change rooms. Staff were just great and attentive to our requests, room was cleaned each day and our housekeeper was excellent. ground are well kept and there is an interesting Iguana laden tree on the property and they can be seen daily. beach and pool are good. They have bicycles for use no charge and lots of activities.

The staff (especially Gus, Diana and Bere) are all super friendly and accommodating. They really put on good entertainment for the whole family and get the kids involved. Pool is awesome, beach is even better.
