Old hotel, but conveniently located and a very good price. Staff were really friendly.

Walking distance from historical sites. Close from train station and Cathedral. Really nice reception, staff is extremely kind and helpful. Very confortable bed. We enjoy our stay.

Character property with charm and a sense of history. Easy walking into the old city and convenient parking

Location, staff, & service are great. Lights turn off after 8 pm in the reception area. I felt unsafe walking in late at night to a dark hotel. It’s pitch dark in the hallway (4th) until a motion detector lights up.
Room itself was roomy & comfortable. Staff was nice when I asked for a replacement of the stained pillowcase. I didn’t realize the towel also had stains. I’m glad I brought my own towel.

Nice hotel on perfect location. Very good balance between price and comfort. Some updating would be nice. Come back here for sure.

The property is older but quaint!! For $64 it is a steal. 4 blocks from the downtown sites

Loved the period decor of this excellently situated hotel in the heart of gorgeous Rouen.
3.0 / 5.0
Liked the attic room, kept clean and tidy. Less good was the rather basic shower/bath area and tired carpet. Reception staff mixed, no real facilities, e.g bar, lounge.

An older hotel with character and very friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed our two nights there.

great location and excellent breakfast. room was fine

The location of the hotel was perfect and close to all the monuments. It’s was a maximum 10 minute walk to any place. However the hotel needs a renovation. The bathrooms are dated and worn out. In mine the shower head was calcified and water was everywhere. If not for the location and staff the stay would have been less pleasant.

Clean and reasonably comfortable. We had quad room which was very 'tired - e.g. old fashioned bathroom, wallpaper peeling off walls, shutters not working, no air conditioning. Overall rather expensive for what it is.

Hotel Bonaparte is in the heart of the actio in Rouen, walking distance to the cathedral light show, shops, cafes, cathedrals. The room was a typical French hotel room, but I must say - the most comfortable hotel pillows I encountered on my trip. Dont really understand how may hotels just dont get that it doesnt cost that much for a COMFORTABLE pillow (most are hard, thin, horrendously cheap lumpy abominations), but the Hotel Bonaparte had very soft, plump, comfie ones. Rouen is really cool, it was my favorite French city on our visit - DO NOT MISS the 11pm illuminated cathedral light show - we are artists and we found it AMAZING. Some artists made a few artistic projection films that fits the cathedral and its WAY cool. Good little shopping street, cafes, some cool antique architecture and the Musee des Beaux Arts was FREE and FABULOUS. Dont miss having a snack or lunch in the BEAUTIFUL courtyard of the museum, surrounded by gorgeous statuary and two huge beautiful paintings. But BEWARE - driving in the central area of Rouen is AWFUL - one way streets, bus-only and bike-only lanes, it was a NIGHTMARE driving our rental car there. Must be a university there also because the local bars were packed with heavily drinking students. But overall, I highly recommend a visit to Rouen, if for the cathedral light show and Musee de Beaux Arts alone, but many positive attributes other than driving in the city center.

Shabby. Definitely not a two star hotel.

Excellent short stay, made all the more comfortable by the charming young lady on Reception

An affordable, conveniently located, clean and comfortable hotel. Parking was a bit more complicated than it needed to be. And you need to be careful about arriving late: the reception is not staffed after 20:00 on week days. But by and large it was an enjoyable trip and a perfectly satisfactory hotel.

Great location somewhat close to Rouen train station. Parking was a bit tricky as it's provided by neighboring hotel but very close. Lukewarm water for shower but we got up late. Great breakfast!

Terrific buffet breakfast. Wonderful staff. Good location. Secure parking- but tight and tricky to park. I would definately stay here again. Within easy walking distance to old city sights. In all, it surpassed our expectations for what we paid.

The new owners and staff are wonderfully helpful. For that reason alone, it would be a good hotel to return to.
The lobby tells the "funky" story, with paraphernalia relating to Napoleon Bonaparte, including a tricorne hat, a small statue of Bonaparte, paintings, etc, etc.
The rooms are typically small, the linens clean, but there is an "old" smell in the corridors and in the rooms, and you can sense the damp.
The whole place needs some renovation, but then the price will augment as well. We felt very safe here and central. It is close to the Cathedral, the Mairie (city hall), within walking distance of the major Art Museum, the antiques district and the old city.
When we changed plans and left early, they helped us find new hotel accommodations. Their underground parking is difficult to negotiate, and the owner was always willing to bring out the car for us.
For a budget hotel, it's quite acceptable.

We stayed at a variety of hotels in our 2 weeks trip across France. Hotel Bonaparte was one of the most charming. The staff were very friendly and chatty. Rooms were clean and well appointed. The best thing about this hotel is the location however. It is stone throw away from L'Hotel de Ville and few minutes walk from museums, cathedral and Gros Horloge. Few things to watch out for would be, 1. Reception closes at 8PM and the hotel-secure parking is a steep descent from street level and getting back up can be tricky. Room size is average-small but clean and well appointed.

You get more than what you paid for. Downside-wifi does not work in room and there is no lobby to sit and use Wifi. Perhaps it works in the restaurant. English speaking staff pleasant. I would recommend if watching your budget. Room is a fair size.

The staff was really nice and the hotel is in a great central area. However, the rooms are gross. The shower was broken and you had to hold the shower head because it wouldn't stick to the wall (the piece had fallen off). The bed was gross looking and I wore shoes in the floor the whole time. When the maid cleaned my room she forgot to replace the washcloth and the hand towel so I only had a bath towel (luckily I had only used one of the two I was given). Don't count on using their shampoo. There was also some weirdo religious ceremony going on which was extremely loud. The curtain is thin and also gross looking, and does not trap the light out. There is a metal security (I guess) window shade but that creaped me out too much to use. The wall paper is pealing and you can hear movement in the hallway really easily. Overall, it has a lot of potential in the area, but the whole place needs to be renovated and new furniture for all the rooms. Maybe thicken the walls a bit too. August might be a good time to work on it since all the stores in the town literally shut down. Don't bet on going to every restaurant you pick out... odds are half are closed.

Room was in slight disrepair. There was a lot of noise from the hallways and the stairways. Staff was friendly but did not speak english well. They did allow us to store our baggage behind the front desk when we arrived early for our check in.

This inexpensive, no frills (breakfast is available) hotel is fairly comfortable and in a location very convenient to the old part of Rouen and its walking streets, lovely old half-timbered buildings, cathedral, shops, etc. Wireless Internet is free and worked well. The rooms are small, but not tiny, unlike most such hotels in Paris. The decore and facilities are dates and worn, but largely not in disrepair or dirty. The bed was small (we had twin beds), but reasonably comfortable. Several of the reception staff did not speak English, but tried to be helpful anyway. Others spoke good English and were very helpful.

Hotel is conveniently located for the Rive Droit station and the sights. But the room was dingy and needs new walpaper and carpet. Wash basin had no plug. Tea and coffee are not available in the room. Breakfast is available at a price and is adequate, but it would be cheaper to eat at McDonalds. The window has a metal shutter instead of curtains which is awkward to operate and does not keep out the light. There was a strong smell of cleaning fluid in the corridor.

The hotel is fairly basic, but well priced. The location is good and there is a very secure garage where they were happy for me to park my bike for no extra charge.

Brand new beds delivered the day we arrived. Room was better than the 3 star hotel we stayed at in Paris for a lot less money. Would recommend-good value.

Situated on a very busy road with poor parking, if your car is over 1.8mtrs high you can't use the hotels parking
apart from that quite pleasant hotel for the price avoid rooms near the lift as it is noisy
