Loved our stay.
Suggest pre-booking if you want to dine in the restaurant. We had a meal in the bar, it was, very nice although we felt the staff were a little stressed... can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe just that it was a bit late.

We liked our stay here and the folks working the front desk and breakfast were pleasant. There wasn’t any thing to do in the evening but go to the bar. The place is old and interesting. We slept great and there’s some great hiking right behind the hotel.

The hôtel was just perfect. We loved the atmosphere, the room was clean and comfortable. The food was good. Very easy to find and to reach from the station. Many ways to go to a walk from the hotel. And a really good welcome. You should stop in Kingussie and stay in DUKE OF GORDON.

Food was awful. Chicken pie was slop on a plate with a square of exploding pastry on top. Breakfast had burnt sausages one morning and the next morning they were not even cooked. The only saving grace was the staff. All pleasant and helpful.
5.0
Historical property with old world charm and character.

Staff very nice

The hotel is in a great location.
We got our room at a great price, it was very spacious and had a lovely bathroom.
The breakfast buffet was good however the cooked options for vegetarians were limited with us only finding out that you needed to order vegetarian sausages the day prior.
There was entertainment somewhere evenings which is good to cater for everyone

This was our first experience at the Duke of Gordon but we would visit again. The rooms were comfy and clean, the food and service was excellent. The staff were second to none as every one was very helpful and friendly. We would recommend this Hotel to our friends.

This is a hotel of faded Highland splendour - but we are quite happy in such hotels. The staff are good and try to help and the room was quiet and comfortable. The shame is that the food caters to the lowest common denominator - coach parties. The choice for dinner was remarkably small and the food was average. The breakfast was not hot and the food in heated containers should have been replenished. The bacon was a welded mat of rashers - inedible. The hotel served our purpose but needs attention.

Staff were welcoming, but the room was tired. Poorly hung old curtains, thin mattress and pillows. Bed was not comfortable. Wallpaper coming off the wall and water stains on the ceiling. Bathroom was renovated, but the room was not. White towels were old, thin and greyish in colour.
Went to breakfast. No tables were set. Had to ask a number of times for plates and mild for the cereal. Many of the breakfast choices, e.g., scrambled egg had run-out and nobody was replenishing them. Staff seemed to be stressed and not providing good service.
Evening entertainer (Scottish singer) in the ballroom was excellent.

Comfortable beds. Needs updating

Upon arriving we were met with a very nice lady and checked in with no issue. While the hotel is quite old and could use a good carpet cleaning, the bathroom in the room seemed to have been recently remodeled and was great. While this is a hotel they do have a ballroom for great live music and dancing which goes until midnight. Unfortunately we stayed right above this said music and found it hard to sleep during these times. Breakfast was average for the price but dinner was much better. The bar seemes to always be busy and rushed but they had great employees and drinks. This property is in a nice area with great walkable paths and stores all around. Finding food other than the hotel nearby was quite difficult and the lady at the front desk was no help with our questions. Parking is available in the front and back lot.

Friendly helpful staff and very clean, spacious room with a large comfy bed.

I bet this hotel was really grand in its heyday. Now it is a very run-down hotel with creaky floors, tattered carpets, saggy mattresses, broken chairs and no water pressure in the shower. The bathroom floor seemed like it would collapse at any moment. No shampoo or soap in the shower. The cost was way too high for the condition of the room. They offer a 4-course dinner for $25 which was good. The service staff were nice. This hotel really needs an overhaul but they stay busy with bus tours of senior citizens. Not sure when the exterior picture was taken as the hotel and garden looks nothing like that picture.

The staff were lovely- even helping us out with boxed breakfasts which were made available more than half an hour before the kitchen opened for the morning we had an early start. One of our 3 booked rooms had a problem, but that couple was upgraded to a better room and once again, the staff were very accomodating

Wonderful stay. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We loved the charm of the hotel. Located right in town with quaint shops. The walk path along the Gynack Burn was very relaxing and informative. Great to stay in the Highlands if Scotland.

Lots of interesting walks in Kingussie along the river and through the town . Arrival staff very pleasant and helpful .

The staff were lovely but the hotel was very tired. Noise from plumbing and other rooms meant a poor night's sleep. The hotel was over heated. Breakfast buffet was adequate. Barman on the second night of our stay was very good and really new his malts!

It was my sister’s 90th birthday party and the function suite was ideal for this.
Separate areas where you could chat and more open ones for cake cutting etc

Extremely disappointing main course for dinner, inedible. Great response by reception in the morning

We had a lovely stay at the Duke of Gordon. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, it is clear that the hotel is important to both its community and many returning guests. A wonderful location for exploring the Cairngorms and visiting the Highland Wildlife Park
Time hasn't been a great friend however: The building was in need of upgrades in both the public areas and the bedrooms. And at times service fell beyond the level expected. It did not feel that the hotel was well managed.
We may well return in the future and very much hope to see much needed improvements to this grand old hotel.

Delicious breakfast, hot & fresh. Lovely room. Good food in the evening. Beautiful area & music in the evening. We will stay there again.

The hotel is a stately old lady. Heaps of history and the squeaky floors to go along with it…there’s no sneaking to the bathroom in the middle of the night🙂 Breakfast was included, it was pretty good and the staff were exceptional.

Upstairs room was over the ballroom so it was pretty loud when there was a performer in the evening. But it ended by ten.
Room was comfortable with plenty of space.
There was a mold issue in the shower but that can be easily remedied.

Starter and main course arrived together but it didn’t matter as there were only 3 pieces of whitebait so £2.50 per piece Bar man on first night told us they didn’t sell a spirit that in the next night they clearly did and he needed to wash his hair.
4.0
The hotel has ample parking is is really grand inside- it even has a ballroom!
Our room was very large and very well appointed. Not all floors are serviced by the single lift and this could be a problem if you have any mobility issues.
There is a bar on-site, which serves great food and is lovely for a drink after a busy day of activity.
The breakfast was not tasty- food was served in heaters- which meant that some food was dry because it was sat in the heaters for ages or floating around in so much grease it was not appetising.
4.0
I have stayed here twice in the last two months.
The newer rooms over the ballroom are smaller and thinner walls and noisier.
Luckily we were able to move rooms for the last two nights.
Breakfast is ok, but needs more options.

Staff were very friendly and efficient in all areas. However the hotel had overall a tired feel and decor. The room had a broken mirror and the plug in the bath was blocked. The room needs upgrading. These were reported.
4.0
Pleasant old Highland pile with great rooms and an excellent dining room only drawback was that there was no elevator.

Poor lighting

It was really good. The rooms were comfortable, nice bathrooms and the staff were so helpful in facilitating my groups stay. Buffet breakfast was lovely also.

We loved this place and would love to stay again. Everything was lovely and the staff were very accommodating.

Booked three rooms and they were all a good size.
Location on the Main Street is good.
Large car park.

Nothing fancy but was everything that I needed and really clean, would stay again if in the area.
