Let me start by saying the view of the lagoon was beautiful from the bungalow. However the place had a lot of ants and lizards. We also found some small insects in the bed while we were sleeping and fortunately they were not bedbugs. I don’t think we will stay again.
3.0
Best thing about the place is the view and location. On a beautiful spot on the lagoon and has a nice pool and access to lagoon swimming. The rooms are bare bones but clean and have a big balcony. There aren’t many outlets and strangely one is on the wall close to the ceiling. The staff at the front desk were nice and friendly. The restaurant didn’t seem to have regular hours and was a bit overpriced for what it was (don’t get the green sandwich).
If you want to stay on the lake but not have to spend a lot this is an option. Alternatively you can stay in a cheap decent place in town and then get a mostly consumable day pass at one of the beach clubs or nice hotels on the lagoon.

Bad place, we a bad experience at this place
As soon as we walked in to the room a lizard right in from, i asked the reception to move us, she had the worst attitude, she said well you will see different little animals at this place. My kids asked if they could sleep in the car :( trough the night i felt an insect on me, i jumped and it was a big bug, it flew away,
The reception never gave us anything to sign at check in or out. The place is horrible.

Hotel is located on a beautiful spot overlooking Lake Bacalar. It is perfect for swimming and enjoying the view from the room. It looks like the hotel was built long time ago and never upgraded or renovated. Bathroom especially was in really bad condition. We checked in for two nights but checked out after staying one night.

I tried to cancel my reservation after reading the reviews I am very happy I did not know there's no TV in the rooms no there's no phones in the room but there are are very comfortable beds the Wi-Fi worked great for me the 3 days I was there and The view is amazing also is able to take a boat tour for just 300 pesos and the food at the restaurant pretty good and very well priced I am very happy I chose this place

We have been staying in this no frills hotel for the past 30 years. Gorgeous views, nice pool, comfortable bed and very clean.

The only redeeming feature of this old (1972) hotel is the view of the Bacalar Lagoon. The restaurant was closed, there was not even a drinking glass provided in the room, sewer gases were backing up in the bathroom. It was smelling, cheap, and in extreme need of updating. There are other much nicer places to stay in Bacalar. Take the boat tour of the lagoon from the Aluxes Hotel, which has a great restaurant and looked like a good place to stay. Ask for Juan for the boat tour. If we had to rate the Laguna Hotel on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, we would rate it minus 1 stars.

Todo excelente. Un poco viejo el hotel pero es de los primeros en Bacalar. Excelente vista de la Laguna. Pero le falta aire acondicionado y renovar sus instalaciones

View to the lake is spectacular.
Cleanliness sucks.Internet wifi is super slow, No TV, Phone or AC on most units. Pictures appear better than in real person .

LIKED: It is placed in a very good spot
DIDN'T LIKE: The staff celebrated a christmas party on the hotel premises (there is no room for this kind of parties) which was loud and extended up until 4am; The place is falling apart in pieces - way too old and is not being maintained; The room was not as clean as I would have expected

El hotel Laguna de Bacalar se encuentra muy bien ubicado, con una excelente atención y un buen servicio para realizar el tour de la Laguna de siete colores y visitar los cenotes de la misma.

I thought it was gonna be a great place just as described but in the end it was pretty cool. It’s not small, has a little pool and the view is amazing. The also have boat tours.

The room was in such a bad shape that I walked out as soon as I got in. I couldn't stay. It was smelly, there was mold on the roof and really humid. This place should close down.

This hotel has an amazing location and spectacular view. The staff were friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It could use some updating and remodeling but would recommend it highly.

Happy with hotel location and appearance. Unfortunately no TV available which is a big no no, AC available on certain rooms that you must request at booking which cost more. Mine had only ceiling fan which I was ok with since it was not too hot when I visited in first week of December. Two beds in room and both were in bad shape, not comfortable and need to be replace.

Good experience for 1 night, our room was closed to the kitchen so it was noisy, nice view very helpful staff

Service, great, they are very nice and willing to help, the hotel is clean, but they haven't put a cent into it for years, no TV, no plugs in the room, very old building, it is a shame because they have a great view of the lake, for hotel condition what they charge for a room its a lot, I will pay no more than 400.00 pesos per night at the most to stay there.

Fantastic location spoiled slightly by rude staff. Great to stay for the location but not the service

This was a two night stopover on our tour of Yucatan. The location is excellent. The hotel needs some decorative attention. The room was tatty and bathroom falling to bits, it also smelt badly. Our room overlooked the pool and bar which was quite noisy until late and again early. There was no air conditioning. It is a shame,as this could be an excellent hotel.

An ok hotel, no AC

The site and location of this hotel is great, it is right on the shores of the lake and there is the option to swim, hire kayaks or take a boat trip. it is unfortunate that the staff at the hotel are rather indifferent, they pointed is vaguely in the direction of our room leaving us to locate it for ourselves. The room had a great terrace with a view over the lake, it was more of a basic cabin with a fridge and air conditioning.there is a very small pool which was busy at the time of our stay. The hotel restaurant is not good, we waited 40 min for a fruit salad which was very expensive and not very good.

The Hotel was great we arrived prior to the Check in time and where given a great room # 206.
The views are stunning from this Hotel. The Hotel staff always was friendly accommodating and always available to assist and help. The hotel is a bit dated but I known this prior to booking. It offers decent room with internet, AC and Pool. The onsite restaurant was ok. Nothing to rage about but good prices and fair meals. The Hotel is centrally located between Cenote Azul and Downtown Bacalar. If you are looking for a few day stay i would recommend this place. There are many other charming places in Bacalar but not all will have AC or Pool and this where some of the main factors why I chosen this place.

DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR AND SKIP IT. I WISH WE HAD. EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD IN PHOTOS. IT HAS A VIEW BUT THAT IS ALL IT HAS GOING FOR IT AND IT IS NOT WORTH IT. I SPEAK SPANISH, AND REGARDLESS THE STAFF WAS NOT THE LEAST BIT WELCOMING.

We had a terrific view of the lagoon which is quite beautiful. We were surprised there were not many people her, considering the value, price and location. Very nice place, and nicely maintained.
