Great staff great location

Worst service and staff e ever saw . The waiters Thick they are making you a favor . There is absolutely a problem of service at pool area . You need to either go personally at the bar or ask reception for help which takes half a hour to reply . We were twice (2 different days ) informed that the beers choosen were finished. At the end us$150,00 disappeared from my wife’s wallet

This hotel was a hidden gem, on a beautiful stretch of sand and amazing architectural design. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the bungalows were perfectly fitted out. This is the type of place to get away for couple days disconnect and relax with a loved one and take long walks along the beach. Highly recommend.

Two nights , in both of them we were without electricity, without WiFi ,without lights .. nothing !
So expensive hotel but I suffered from low conditions !
In the nights the room was full of lizards and sometimes even bats.
Disappointed.

One of the best stays, amazingly beautiful quiet and unforgettable
4.6
The hotel is really nice and relaxing. Close to the beach with a great pool and excellent service. My only complaint would be that there is no point in having an ac since the doors and windows don’t fully close and the room never gets cold, it is actually pretty hot almost unbearable in the summer. Also the rooms feel a little old and in need of maintenance

Muy bueno

Beautiful setting. For any one looking for a lap pool this is your place. 50 meter pool along the ocean. Sunrise or sunset swims. Food was great, rooms quiet and clean and staff friendly
4.6
The hotel beat my expectations. Great rooms, with private area and plunge pool. Superb setting. Excellent pool located on the beach and perfect for exercise swimming. (Almost 25 meters). Lots of nice little touches such as free fruit and cold water. Brilliant to see no single use plastic. Toiletries were all refills and no plastic water bottles were seen. Well done. Only issue was the dinning time. You can’t eat before 8pm on the meal plan. This is very late especially with time zone change. I felt hungry and tired every night, so this needs to be reviewed. There was no flexibility and you can see many guests sitting at the table from 19:30 waiting to get the orders for food. Service was also hit and miss depending who you got. Brush up on your Spanish. !

An absolute dream of a place.
The design, location and atmosphere - all excellent. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed.
If I had to think of minuses - the dinner at the hotel was a little inelegant and averagely tasting. And the other thing - they actively try to make money of you off small things.
The location is very isolated ( which was great), but it makes it hard to reach shops et.c. Make sure you take sun cream, your favourite snacks and anything you might need - otherwise expect to pay.

Location is perfect

Zero maintenance, not in accordance to the rates… wouldn't recommend it

Hotel Escondido is an absolute gem – perfect for a getaway where all you want to do is relax in a beautiful place. It's pretty far from other main beaches like Zicatela and Carrizalillo (but the beach the property is on is gorgeous (can't swim in it though bc of the strong waves). Staff is so nice and on top of it, rooms are great, and the food is yummy. Dinner is a rotating menu but we were pleasantly surprised at the variety of the mains and quality of desserts (they served garlicky fish one night and fettuccini the next). Cocktails are amaaazing and go very well with a long swim in the pool that overlooks the private beach. Def want to come back!

Decidimos pasar dos días de luna de miel en Hotel Escondido. Les puedo decir que el servicio, las instalaciones y nuestro cuarto excedieron nuestras expectativas. Es un lugar para adultos, para relajarse y divertirse. Recomendado.
4.6
Location is very remote with a long secluded stretch of beach with a few small houses here and there. A great rocky portion is on one end of the beach and fun to climb and watch local fishermen. Also, the Manialtepec Lagoon is right down road, and excellent for kayaking and bird watching.
4.6
Amazing hotel in terms of location and atmosphere. However, many smaller details weren't satisfactory. Given the high cost of the hotel, I did expect better service and more flexibility from the staff.
The staff did not assist reservations to Casa Wabi or the hotel's Omakase restaurant (even though they promised to do so when we arrived). No laundry services available ("it's broken, sorry").
Location is amazing. So is the pool. Food is very good. There were some complaints that the bar lacked basics (like Bailey's) but that wasn't a big deal for us.
Overall this is an excellent place to stay, just keep your expectations in check.

The property is located about a mile of the main road. Making it a very quiet place. all of the guest accommodations are thatched roof stand alone cottages. The staff were very nice. Do watch out for couple of things. A: Check the bills that one signs for things like drinks, food etc. Got charged for cigarettes and drinks, that were not ordered. The front desk staff reversed the charges. But had to sign a paper saying that all of the disputed items were not consumed by me. That tells me that charging for things not ordered by the guests is a common practice.
B: Got the stomach bug. So please come prepared with Pepto or similar medicine
4.6
RATS IN KITCHEN,BUGS ON BED, RUDE & $$$$!
The management: The ladies at the front desk were extremely rude, we overheard unprofessional conversations they were having in Spanish about us that they didn’t think we could hear. For how expensive the hotel is, you would think they would cater to ALL their guests better but maybe it’s only if youre rich that they treat you with respect.
The room: Our bed had silverfish bugs on it when we walked in. The nice bellman called someone and he came with a towel and literally brushed them on the floor, accidentally squashing one and smearing it on the white bedspread. The nice guy from maintenance told us we could request a net over the bed if we wanted to because the bugs fall from the roof that’s made of wood and palm. The bed was hard, the pillows too
The included dining: brunch - they said we were too late they were finishing up & we’d have to wait for supper in 3 hours. Next closest food 10 min away. kitchen staff was actually great, BUT there were rats crawling on the restaurant bar. We’re told that the hotel is surrounded by vegetation w/no way to prevent the rats from hanging out. Chef Ratatouilles supper was atleast tasty, if you can get past the thoughts of rats in the kitchen. Breakfast was also included but it starts at 8 and we had to leave for the airport at 7. No offer was made to prepare anything sooner, they did however give us an apple, ham sandwich, and juice box to go.

EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT...
4.6
Beautiful place, great food and design but lacking in basic services ( a/c was out for entire first day without any acknowledgement from staff. Hot water was sparse ( rarely available) and lighting in the room abysmal (couldn’t read my book!). No manager around. Staff is sweet but often young and inexperienced. Not fault of hotel but no swimming in ocean ( too rough). Hotel pool is glorious, though. All in all, a good experience but be ready for a few snafus.
4.6
Beautiful site. Unfortunately, dangerous undertow/waves made it impossible to swim in ocean. Food mediocre at restaurant.
4.6
Easily the best hotel I have stayed in. Perfect for a relaxing weekend.
4.6
We stayed for one week. The hotel is super easy going, the staff is very nice. The food is extremely good and the location of the property is amazing. Kilometers of white sandy beaches, very secluded and relaxing location. It’s great for a week to relax, enjoy beautiful sunrises and sunsets or go for a surf. The massages in the so are exceptionally good. We will come back!
4.6
The setting is amazingly beautiful and tranquil, but there isn’t much to do except hang out near pool as the location is isolated. The staff is very friendly and attentive, especially Eric who is terrific. The food is delicious and the drinks go down easy. However I wish there were meat options as the menu is mostly seafood, which I don’t eat due to allergies. With that said, we have been here before, enjoyed being here again, and will be back ASAP.

How should I start, it is one of those hotels you want to love, but there is this sensation that there is something missing. For the cost; you would expect an out of this world experience, but instead, you end up with a hotel that is trying to do something great, but is missing on the execution. The hotel is secluded, you will need to take a 30 - 40 minute taxi to arrive to their location. Hotel does not provide their own transportation, instead they help you book a taxi with the airport, which will cost you 1,400 mxn, ~70 usd for a roundtrip. I was able to find transportation to and from at a fraction of that cost. If you truly want to be secluded, this is the hotel for you, but be warned that you will be far from the city center and other beaches. It would not be a big issue, but you are solely depended on the hotel to arrive to the main highway since they have this road that is not well kept that makes it difficult to get off the premises. I attempted to walk the road, which is about 1.5 miles from the entrance of the hotel to the main road, but fail short because of the conditions. Luckily, a local gave us a lift to the main road. So if you are trying to see the other beaches or the other great activities Puerto Escondido has to offer, you will either need to make a local connection or depend on the hotel, which will cost you a pretty penny, For example, seeing the bioluminescence phenomenon, it will cost you 1,300 mxn/person, which is about 65 usd. Ran out of space...

Hotel Escondido is simply too notch overall. Ana - the concierge- sent a pre arrival welcome email to ensure everything was set up for us for arrival including the hotels shuttle. This place is a perfect retreat from the busyness of town life. It's rather remote which makes it authentic and beautiful however you'll either need a rental car or to take the hotel shuttle to get to the town about 45 minutes away. Hower we found really no need to go to toe other than one day just to see the other beaches and a different experience.
The bungalows are private yet not to far apart and the sheet /bed quality are 4start hotel quality. You are sung to sleep at night by the local birds and frogs. It was a bit of a shock the first night and then I learned to love it.
Do get the half board option it is 100% worth it. The breakfast was very good but the dinner was amazing. Yes amazing. Saul the chef makes unique yet tasty experiences every evening.
Also, let the hotel schedule the horse back riding and hot spring for you. It is done by a local family who owned several lovely horses and you ride through almost untouched scenery en route to a private hotspring.

The Hotel Escondido is located on a stunning beach about 30 minutes north of Puerto Escondio. We choose this hotel, because we wanted to visit the Casa Wabi Foundation which is neighbouring with the Hotel. The Hotel which belongs to the Habita group, (other beautiful hotels within Mexico) is nestled in beautiful vegetation directly on the beach. We were looking forward to this stay as we wanted to pamper ourselves a bit.
Our expectations were not fulfilled. We arrived in our room and the private plunge pool was super dirty, you could not even see the ground. Also the main pool was super cloudy and dirty and bad maintained. The private villas / pavilions are not very well isolated and the air is just blowing through them. Which can be nice to feel the breeze during the night. But in the rainy season which high temperatures and a high humidity you might want to use the AC. The AC in our room did not work at all. No cool air came through the outlet. Also the mattress in the room was very worn out. Haven't slept in a bed of this bad quality for a long time.
For a hotel of this category and with this price the hardware was very disappointing. Or lets say not well maintained and need a lift up. The staff was very friendly and supportive. The food in the restaurant had a good quality.
4.6
Far from activities: 15 minute ride on dirt road
4.6
A very nice and quiet hotel. The villas has their own pool and are steps away from the sea.
4.6
This hotel is absolutely stunning and the staff is amazing. My only problem is that the air conditioning in the rooms doesn’t really work and in August weather this was too uncomfortable to the point I didn’t really get rest.
Otherwise the hotel is perfect.
4.6
Hotel Escondido is amazing. The location is beautiful and the rooms are mostly private with gorgeous views and private pools. The food is good and the cocktails are great. You can’t beat it for a few days of restful relaxation! My recommendation for people who are used to having their rooms relatively cool for sleeping (we visited in July) is to close the room up and turn the air conditioner on before you go to dinner so that the room has some time to cool down. We loved it here and would happily return.
4.6
LOVED this place. Possibly my favorite place in the world thus far! It is a hotel to completely recharge and disconnect, as there is nothing around after dark and in a very serene and remote location. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and the food and service was incredible. I certainly plan to return again.
4.6
We went for our honeymoon. It was absolutely beautiful, relaxing, and well staffed. could not have asked for better.
4.6
Perfect hidden gem. Paradise and totally private. The staff was attentive. The grounds were pristine no one on the beach to bother you and gorgeous sunsets.
No end to the towels and any items we needed for our stay. I would highly recommend
