Very sweet and friendly staff that were super helpful when we had misplaced a bag on public transport and they helped us to track the bag down and retrieve it.
Staff were always attentive and willing to help with any requirements.
Very comfortable room with great facilities.

We had a wonderful stay at Nazuna. Everything is so well thought out, the staff are all very friendly and detailed, and the food was excellent. We felt so welcomed from the moment we walked through the doors. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who would like to experience a traditional stay with traditional food.

The stuff here are incredible. Amazing people and the room was just as amazing. Bed were comfortable, the private bath was such an incredible experience after a week of exploring Japan. I highly recommend this place to anyone. The breakfast and dinner they served was such a great experience and very tasty.

We were blown away by how warm and welcoming Kanako, Haruka and Misaki were from the moment we stepped into the property to the moment we left in our cab. Their level of thoughtfulness was beyond exceptional and gave you a sense of being in a home away from home - I believe this is what made our stay a very memorable one.
Our room was very clean with super comfortable beds (had the best sleep of my trip here), a very well-stocked minibar (including curated sake and teas) as well as amazing facilities (including the Shigaraki bath that overlooked the bird bath in the in-room garden). The property was also in a quiet residential area (recommend taking a cab here or reaching out to the property to seek the best route for getting there via public transport) that was a short walk to Nijo Castle and also within walkable distance to Nishiki Market. Our taste buds were also blesed by the Irori breakfast and Sukiyaki dinner where fresh ingredients were cooked before you.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend staying here for at least two nights so you can not only enjoy the property and the food but also the familial warmth from the staff.

Property is private yet accessible by public transport conveniently. Environment is quiet and staff is friendly and close to clients in a more or less family setting. In-room bath tub inside a small garden allows for private bathing for the family. The rental is value-for-money.

This is a very unique Japanese hotel. It's a high-end ryokan with open-air bath.
The service is hands down the best I've ever had. We asked the staff where to go and they gave us a post card in beautiful hand drawing with QR code pasted on it for all the places we should go to check Sakura trees and current events.
The breakfast is top-notch Japanese food. I cannot recommend this place enough if you want to experience Japan.

I highly recommend this place if you want to stay at a ryokan. Everyone is so nice and friendly. The rooms were beautiful and we loved the outside bath. We added breakfast and everything was so delicious. I really enjoyed one of the tea they served so I asked them about it and they gave everyone in my party some tea bags to go. Sadly, we only stayed for 1 night but I will definitely stay here again!

The service at Najuna Nijo-jo is exceptional. The staff goes above and beyond expectations. The breakfast is an absolute feast and the presentation is fantastic. I loved our room and the private onsen, plus all of the complimentary beverages from local businesses.

the staff was so great. very accommodating and kind. Everything was perfect for our first visit to Kyoto. If you want to get away from the big chain hotels and have a unique, traditional experience, book here! It's also a 5 min walk to Nijo Castle. This place is awesome.

Everything is so great in this hotel. If you’re expecting hot bath inside the wooden bath tub, this place may not satisfies you but here is a relax place with complimentary Japanese tea.

Absolutely unique experience. We were greeted by hosts who took our bags and shoes and gave us slippers. One of our hosts then held our matcha tea ceremony in our traditional room, with tatami mats, a low table, etc. Each evening, we relaxed in the onsen-style hot tub in the nature area outside the room. And in the mornings, we had traditional Kyoto food items cooked in front of us and served to us by a friendly conversational chef. The staff all spoke good English.

The hotel is extremely spacious and well-decorated. We have a private hot spring in our room. The room even have two decks (two serious full decks, not a mezzanine deck)! Staff were very friendly and showed warm welcome.

I can't say enough good things about this Ryokan, the service was spectacular, the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, we ended up staying in different rooms and each one was unique, spacious, clean and comfortable. we only booked one night because we were concerned that it wouldn't be as nice as the pictures but we ended up adding 2 more nights on (which is why we changed rooms) they have bikes to rent right outside which was super convenient for getting around, but they did call us a taxi when needed and helped with excellent dinner recommendations and reservations. Loved our stay!

Overall this was a very nice experience for us. The staffs were very nice and attentive. We especially liked the fulton beddings which were soft and very comfortable. The caveat to staying at this hotel is you have to be used to sitting on floor for long time. I cannot sit on the floor in any forms for longer than 5 minutes. They don't have a table of regular height to offer. We stayed there for 5 days and it was hard for us to overcome. Other than that, everything else is fine.

A memorable stay with personal touch of service

Simply the best stay of our two week trip. The staff and accommodations were amazing. They have an in house tea ceremony and a traditional breakfast that should not be missed. We had the matcha room that has its own personal garden and soaking tub. I highly recommend this ryokan. Plus it is located on a very quiet street.

I was somewhat hesitant to stay here because of the price but once I arrived I knew we had made the right choice. The place is somewhat difficult to find so I suggest using a Taxi. The staff greeted us right at the door and spoke perfect English. They gave us nice little slippers and we left our shoes at the door. They then took us to our room and wow....it was so beautiful. We settled in and then were given some tea, which was done so in a very old fashioned traditional manner. We left the hotel for a bit to do some sight-seeing and then arrived back at the hotel after dinner. After all the walking we were ready to relax. Perfect time to try out the hot tub. It was amazing. Sat in there for a good hour and then were ready to call it a night. The beds were extremely comfortable and I slept like a log.

We arrived early and it was no problem to leave our bags while we went and did some sightseeing.
Upon our return our bags were in the room and room beautifully presented. One of the staff showed us around the room and the features. We went for the 2 bed room as there were 4 of us. Very clean and new. Extremely comfortable beds and excellent air con. This is a more modern Ryokan than we have stayed in but we really liked that, as it felt fresh, modern but also authentic, ie tatami mats and futons, plus we had our very own hot tub( onsen) on our private balcony! When we arrived 2 staff came to our room and performed a matcha tea ceremony. This was a beautiful welcome, and really delicious too!
Breakfast the next morning was an absolute highlight! Kuzu was our personal chef, who cooked simple but delicious fresh vegetables and meat over a hot charcoal grill in front of us. His English was excellent which was great as we were able to ask lots of questions about food, culture, sightseeing, etc
Location was a little out of the hub of Kyoto, but we just called taxis when we wanted to go further afield. Unfortunately we only stayed one night, we would have liked a few more.

More staff than guests at this Ryokan which made the service even more special. Great breakfast - wish they had dinner but there are great places in Kyoto for eating out.

This was our first ryokan experience and it was nothing short of fabulous. Luxurious in its own right - personalized concierge service, the friendliest staff we have ever encountered, and a beautiful, traditional room. Our room, situated on the second floor, had a balcony overlooking the garden and a living room with traditional japense seating. The outdoor bath was exceptional. Only five suites are available. The breakfast was traditional yet inviting for western palettes - we had the beef and it was delicious. They offer tea ceremonies in the lobby, though we did not partake. Would never return to Kyoto without staying here. I missed it as soon as we left.

Amazing hotel! The service was great and we learned so much about Japanese traditions. If you are looking for an authentic experience, stay here. We loved the private bath which was nice even in the winter. Our room had beds but we chose to sleep on the tatami futon which was very comfortable. We enjoyed the welcome tea and tea ceremony, and all the teas we tried while there, especially the black bean tea. I was also surprised by the wonderful breakfast! It included many dishes I had never had before but I was so glad I got to try them! The neighborhood is quiet which was not a problem for me, but if you are looking for nightlife then plan to take some cabs.

Hotel staff was a 24 hour dedicated to us, super nice. Ryokan has only 5 rooms that's why there's a special attention. Tea Ceremony was a great experience, Toiletries where high end- nice. Outdoor onsen tub was great as well. They do have an indoor shower. Rooms have 2 beds- one p/p and 2futons for up to 2 extra pp to sleep on top of the Tatami. My son loved it.
