Extremely charming hotel! Fantastic service, friendliness and hospitality! Clean, lovely food, and (hot!) indoor and outdoor onsen. Will recommend ❤️
10.0
Incredible service and an absolutely amazing hotel. The staff were amazingly attentive and helpful, provided transport for us to see the monkey park and get us back to town in time for our train back. The evening meal was absolutely incredible and such a lovely experience, and the Onsen was outstanding. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again with absolutely no hesitation.

It's an older property but very clean and well-maintained. All the staff are friendly and food was great. The onsen was the hottest one we had during this trip to the Nagano area (3 different hotels). Our room faces the river so if you open the window, you can hear the river and mini waterfall. We saw the most amazing sunset at the bridge right in front of the hotel. Hotel is also conveniently located within 15 minutes from the Snow Monkey park, which makes it easy for us to beat the tours by arriving early.

I love spending my slow lifetime, touching the natural, old town, sculptures and friendly people.

Super ryokan experience. Friendliest staff possible. Hotel service to monkey park and train station was so helpful. Great onsen too

The staff were so friendly and helpful. They make you feel like you’re the only guest there. So sweet and friendly. Highly recommend. They also serve a fantastic dinner.

If you want to stay in the mountains near the snow monkey this is where you should stay! The staff was amazing! They have a shuttle that will take you to the snow monkey park and also take you and from the train! And the room and the onsen were such an amazing experience! If your looking for more tradition and local Japanese experience, Stay here!

Beautiful view from the hotel. Easy parking available and walkable to dining options and transport. Lovely helpful staff.

staff very helpful. They sent us to Money's park, and drop us off at the train station. Thank you very much! It was a pleasant stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was huge with a lovely view towards the mountains. The staff were really helpful and picked us up and dropped us off at Yudanaka station. Breakfast is VERY traditional Japanese, so was a very authentic experience. We walked to the monkey park and back, which took around 1 hour each way. Well worth the visit as the monkeys were amazing. The walk will take you via Shibu Onsen village, which was like going back in time. The walk into Yudanaka was 10 mins, where there were around 10 restaurants.

Hotel staff was friendly and went out of their way to help our group. We arrived late so could not visit the snow monkey park and we had to leave in morning to catch train back to Nagano. They planned an itinerary for us so we could see the snow monkeys and still get to train station on time. They even drove us to park, picked us up and dropped us off at station! Great service
The dinner was exceptional with fish caught on that day. Breakfast was also very good.
I highly recommend this hotel and will go back to this hotel the next time I visit Nagano.

Nice property, we enjoyed our stay, staff friendly and accommodating.

The service and amenities were amazing. I was met at the station with a free shuttle to the Ryokan and the staff at the desk were very friendly and could provide service in both English and Japanese. The dinner and breakfast was phenomenal and the view out my window was breathtaking! Staying here allowed me to partake in some must-do things in Japan such as wearing Yukata and using the Onsen. I’m so happy I chose this place and got to experience everything for such a reasonable price! A huge thanks to the staff for everything :)

They were very nice. Despite the language barrier they went on to try their best to help us go through our stay without any problem. Extremely nice staff. Very helpful.

They made us feel just like at home here. The staffs are so friendly and accommodating. The location is a bit inconvenient since we are traveling with my 76 y/o mother, it is about 20min walk to town. However, the staff offered to drive us to town to pickup dinner in a snowy night. I would stay here again.

Room and food were perfect

It was a bit close to the train and bus station. They offered to drop me off at the Snow Monkey Park so it was a relief and convenient. And they dropped me off to the station when I was about to go home. If you really want to experience japanese culture you should stay here because their rooms are big and its a traditional japanese room and their japanese breakfast and dinner was superb! I really recommend you to try it! They had an indoor and outdoor onsen! It was very relaxing! This is one of the best hotel I’ve ever stayed! 😍

The staff were amazing and friendly. The hotel itself is a bit old but is very clean. Location is great and in the middle of almost all destinations.
5.0
The staff was lovely and very accommodating. They drove me to the monkey park, let me leave my luggage there, and even drove me to my next hotel at Shibu Onsen. The onsen was divine.
The place is a little run down and I found the pillows a little uncomfortable, but it was very reasonably priced, the breakfast was delicious, and it was a perfect base camp for exploring.
5.0
Spacious room and well equipped. The dinner has more than 10 variety and is served in a private dinning room. Open air onsen is not hot enough.

Nice neighbourhood, nice view, nice onsen, nice room

The hosts were so friendly and helpful. They picked us up from the station in Yudanaka, took us to the Snow Monkeys and drove us back to the station when we were leaving. They also always checked on with is to see if everything was ok. The Onsen facilities were excellent, the open air Onsen was great -1 air temperature made the very hot Onsen very welcome

One of the best ryokan to stay in. The roof top onsen is lit. Rooms are super clean and staff is awesome.

This is a charming ryokan and the hosts were very friendly. They served breakfast, dinner and overall very delicious which we enjoyed. It is value for money. The surrounding is very beautiful too. They also helped us to courier our baggage to a hotel in Tokyo. We recommend you take the dinner option as surrounding are not many cafes.

This is property is a bit dated in term of furnishing and deco but it make it up with the most attentive staff I have seen in Japan. They certainly experienced and very good with guests. The breakfast was excellent. We stayed for three days and the menu changed daily.
The property is a bit further from Yudanaka area but shuttle van is available and free. We especially love the onsen. The outdoor onsen has one of the best commanding views of the valley. It was snowing when we were there and the park in front of the hotel turned into a winter wonderland. Our kids really enjoyed themselves playing in the snow-covered park. For the price and what it offers, it definitely well worth it.

This ryoukan was a great find! The service was their greatest strength, greeting us immediately upon arrival, allowing us to check in very early, taking us by van to the Monkey Park and train station, and making sure we knew how to get back by bus. The staff were very kind and helpful.
The room was a typical ryoukan tatami room with a nice “sitting room” with a view. For those of us used to sleeping on beds, just be aware that sleeping on the floor on futons may not make for the most comfortable night’s sleep. The futons did seem a little harder than usual.
The food was amazing; but very traditional Japanese ryoukan meals. It was about as far from western-style dining as you can get. (Don’t expect waffles for breakfast!) It was a great culinary experience.
The onsen (hot spring baths) was great. Inside and open air options. My wife did complain about hers being too hot, but the men’s outside bath was just right. (The inside one was pretty hot though.)
I highly recommend you stay here for a wonderful, traditional Japanese ryoukan experience. It’s convenient to the Monkey Park and Shiga Kogen ski areas (though a bit of a long bus ride to the latter). Skip the more expensive hotels for the real deal!

Clean but old. Staff was very friendly and very willing to help. Location is convenient. Hotel overlooking a river.
5.0
Great experience and service. They made us feel so welcomed and cared for.
The breakfast (Japanese style) was delicious and if arranged they can pick-up/drop off from train station and drop you at the entrance of the snow monkey park.
The hotel is located only 1 km away from shops and restaurants. Make sure you enjoy the beautiful view on your way there :)

Flexible Japanese ryokan
Very service oriented

Pleasant stay. Staff very helpful even though they speak a little English. Clean spacious Tarami room and the foliage view was amazing! Not to mention the outdoor Hotspring so relaxing. Ideal location just 10 minutes walk from Yudanaka station and another 5-10 minutes to Shibu onsen. Food was nice too (expect some cold dishes nevertheless delicious)

Friendly staff. Nice view. Quite a walk from station...

This hotel is about a 15 minute stroll to the hotel from the Yudanaka station. You can grab a cab to get to the hotel as well.
Upon reaching the hotel, the staff greeted us and was very welcoming. The lady brought us to our rooms and showed us around. The room was very spacious and clean. They have their own onsen with the choice of open air bath. The shuttle service was very convenient as well as they took us to yudanaka station and also to the snow monkey park from the hotel.
From the overall experience, I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and wouldnt mind staying here again

Onsen was nice, complementary shuttle drop of to snow monkeys available but not pick up service. No tolietries in room.

Nice hotel with the beautiful view of the river and mountain range from the window. We love lazing and sleeping on the tatami. The traditional Japanese dinner is superb and we enjoy it a lot. It has been snowing heavily for our 3 days stay in omodaka. The powdery snow and beautiful winter view of omodaka has made the winter of 2018 an enjoyable and memorable experience for us

Very traditional room with tatami mats. We went in winter and the heating was excellent. Very close to the Snow Monkey Park. We had a rental car and the parking was easy and readily available. Staff were lovely especially the sweet lady who escorted us to our room. Very nice gift shop with good prices. The staff don’t have much English but that’s just Japan. It’s part of the adventure

Hotel Omodaka was a great find! A central location beside a beautiful river and park, with great onsens (hot mineral spas) at the hotel. The staff were so gracious and friendly, with free transfers to and from the hotel, and they were so helpful throughout our stay. We loved the traditional Japanese feel of the hotel, and would definitely recommend this hotel to others!

We spent one night at this place in order to see the monkey park early in the morning. Everything was exceptional especially the staffs who were so helpful. The hotel is a little bit outdated but the everything else were superb. I would definitely stay here again

Very nice location. The owner was also the driver who took us around the village and to the Monkey Park. The dinner was authentically Japanese and awesome. Best dinner my family had in the 4 days we were in Japan. Free use of Onsen, which was refreshing after the hike to the the Monkey Park.
5.0
Stayed here for 3 nights in Jan 2017. We had two traditional rooms and they were fine. The hotel has a big traditional onsen which is perfect after a day of snow monkeying around or skiing at the near by slopes. The staff were great - picking us up from the train station, taking us to the monkey park, and dropping us at dinner every night. The Hotel itself is a bit dated but the staff, location and onsen make it a perfect escape. We’ll be back!
