When we arrived the room smelled so heavily of bleach it made us ill. But I guess you could say it was clean. We were forced to pay a $60 cash deposit for damages, that would not be returned until after a 9 am inspection. Well we were leaving at 6 am so we were forced to leave a credit card in order to get the $60 cash back. The room, the walls were dirty, there were cigarette burns on the desk, so I'm hoping they don't blame us for damages. Bed very lumpy and uncomfortable.

I really have mixed emotions. When booking via the app there's no mention of a required $60 CASH deposit at time of booking (an email came from the hotel at 4am AFTER check-in with that info). The form you sign at check-in says no pets, yet they're advertised as pet-friendly. I worked these items out without much hassle - and they probably protect the owners from unsavory characters and dishonesty about having a pet - but still, seems a bit shady. It's the kind of place that hands you the TV & AC split remotes at the windowed desk. The split didn't work but fortunately outside temps were comfortable, so I took a chance and left a window open. I wouldn't dare use the coffin of a shower (I am not claustrophobic) - just not appealing. Microwave didn't work because it's on top of the fridge and too far away from the outlet It's old but clean, solid, and a bit noisy from the busy street. That said, as a solo female, I was safe and sufficiently comfortable for one night. . Free bottle of water and free pet stay were appreciated.

This little motel seems to be amid a slow remodel. The price was perfect (low, low) and we felt safe staying there. Clean enough, no bugs spotted. The family that runs the motel was nice and laid back and made us feel welcome. We were able to park right by our room door. They accepted our pet, a puppy, like it was no big deal at all. All this was GREAT and when funds are low we would definitely stay there again. Great location as well. Areas for improvement: Our room's shower walls (tiles) were clean enough but in terrible shape making the shower unappealing. Our room had no art on the walls and no dresser, table or desk as shown in photos. It had a bed, TV, one nightstand and one little chair, along with small fridge and microwave. A suitcase stand or a table to use as such would have been very welcome.

I recently stayed at Motel San Diego for one night and had a pleasant experience. The check-in process was quick and easy, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. My room was clean and comfortable, with all the basic amenities I needed for a short stay. Overall, it was a great value for the price, and I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is very very very old. No WiFi. We had to change rooms because the TV wouldn't stream due to no WiFi. I am just glad it was just a one night stay or it would have been an even worse experience.

The room was absolutely terrible. The photos on the website did not match the room in person. There was a gap from the bottom of the door to the ground leading to outside. Leaving room for insects to come in. The blankets ,sheets, towels were stained. Hair all over in the bathroom . Black mold of some sort can see in the shower. The A/C unit was broken and hardly worked. This was the worst place I had stayed in . I originally booked the hotel for three days and only stayed one night due to the condition. I recommend no one stay here . The place needs to be audit and fined for still operating under these poor conditions it's unsafe and could be a risk to someone health.

We took a last minute trip to San Diego and was looking for something affordable and close to the beach. This motel was much cheaper than others in the area for the dates we were looking for. Upon arrival we got checked in fairly quickly and the front office staff was welcoming. There was a $60 cash deposit required upon arrival, but you do receive that back when you check out. The motel was kind of tucked away and pretty quiet. It’s a pretty small property so you might miss it when trying to find it for the first time. The rooms are very basic, but clean. But for the price, you can’t beat it. We would definitely stay here again when looking for affordable near the beaches!

I dont even know how to keep it short. The guy at the window stated that after we have got keys and are checked in, thats it theres no possiblty of reimburesment. Right? I felt confident that the room was at least decent for the price. I was wrong! As soon as i stepped in that room my son (8yr old) and I were like no way... i told myself we will stay the night. Even though i was scared and disgusted. The bathroom had spiders. The door had an opening where the floor and the door meet so entry for bugs are always welcomed! I had showered with cold water,quickly. Didnt wash my hair. Left the fan running all night because i didnt want it to be humid. I noticed things the same day that i arrived but didnt think it could get any worse. And it sure did! In the morning i woke up with what felt like my lungs flared up... come to find out the crack in the bathroom cieling had grown mold OVER NIGHT. The towels are stained and not even washed right. They're crusty ! They do nothing for accomdations because they cant afford it im assuming. If they cared about their guests even a tiny bit i think they would AT LEAST have clean towels. The beds are stained and also have ciggerate holes even though they say no smoking in the rooms. They just throw "clean" sheets. It felt like one of those motels you see in scary movies where they murder ppl. I swear. I cant even get my money back because that next morning i didnt hestitate to leave!

Our room wasnt resdy. Check in was at 3pm . We checked in at 4pm. No offer of any discount or offer to make it right. The shower was either boiling hot or freezing cold. Could not get in it. Basically had to take a sponge bath. No ice machine. Wifi poor connection so streaming on tv kept loading. Heads up $60 cash deposit required to get the room. Cash comes back to you upon checkout after the room is looked over by front desk and everything looks ok. The patio, if you call it a patio needs a lot of work. Not up to par for hotel guests. Vending machine does not work but front desk has key to get into it. The front desk is actually not a lobby at all. Its a walk up window like a gas station. If you have a dog you can use the patio for your dog to do their thing. Would only stay here if you are in a pinch. Otherwise pick somewhere else for your last minute stay.

For such a high price, the facilities need to be upgraded. The WC wasn’t well cleaned, and it’s very old. You need to upgrade to a bathtub for a price as high as that. There was a spider in my room. You guys must upgrade because the price is too expensive for such facilities. I did not enjoy my stay. Thanks.

Two stars is about right. Left a lunch container in fridge, called two hours after checkout and was told that they would hold the container for me. After 20 minute drive I get there and was told that they couldn't find it. Seriously, you don't pay your employees enough money to afford their own Tupperware??

The rooms were not ready at check in. Had to wait about an hour for them to finish cleaning. There wasn’t any room service while I was there, however that’s what I was hoping for. Probably would’ve accommodated if I needed anything. The television is hooked up to the internet, so you can watch online videos on a big television screen, which is much nicer than having to use a phone screen instead. There weren’t many outlets to choose from, and the one next to the bed was part of a lamp, and was a little worn out. I thought I saw a bath tub in the booking photo, but it was just a shower (which worked just fine). There’s a nice dining area in the room to be able to eat meals (fridge and microwave provided). And the hotel is kinda tucked away, so it’s kinda private, within a very convenient distance to public transportation. A cash deposit is required, and returned after room is checked during checkout. If you want to walk to the beach, it’s doable, though it’s a pretty long trek (with lots of restaurants, bars, and shops along the way). (Public transportation is recommended, instead $2.50 one way; $6 will get you a day pass good all day/night as many times / directions you want, for both bus AND trolley rides, which are both within walking distance). Pretty sure there isn’t a laundromat on sight, but there are plenty within walking distance.

Place was nice and hidden by the palm trees but getting out of the place was tricky. Really liked that there was a McDonald at walking distance and a gas station. Also it was near the freeway so very convenient. The room itself was okay. Good size bed, hot water and tv. The place needs some remodeling for sure but for the price it was decent. Staff was friendly as well.
