About this cabin rental
Welcome to River Willow, our wonderful 1950's cabin on the beautiful Kern River in the quaint, residential neighborhood of Riverkern. 3 miles from Kernville. An idyllic setting perfect for couples or small groups. Property is 1 acre with river access, fenced front yard, surrounded by mountains & lush vegetation. Explore the area, sit on the deck, follow a sandy path to relax by the river & then continue the path to a private neighborhood beach for river swimming. As our guest you'll have the cabin and entire property to yourself.
Our classic, updated cabin's main floor has one bedroom with a queen bed and a small adjoining bedroom with a twin xl bed. The loft is accessed by a steeper stair/ladder with handrails on both sides & a fixed baby gate at the top. The loft has a full bed & a twin sofa bed. The cabin can accommodate up to 5 people comfortably. Main floor has a bathroom with a tub/shower and a separate toilet room. The second bathroom is between the 2 downstairs bedrooms and is a half bath. Please not: there's no bathroom in the loft.
Perched high on granite boulders with incredible western views of the rugged Greenhorn Mountains, you'll feel right at home in your California getaway. A lovely seasonal stream sometimes runs through the property during spring runoff (California weather dependent, please inquire). You can hear the Kern River from the cabin then walk the sandy path to your own slice of riverfront. Relax in the boulder patio or swing in the hammock & take in the serene landscape. On the covered deck, unwind with yoga or a book with coffee in the morning. Watch the sunset over the majestic peaks with a cocktail in the evening. Enjoy a BBQ on the patio under the oaks. When it's chilly outside, unwind with a board game in front of the cozy wood fireplace. The night sky gives way to stargazing and the calming sounds and scents of the southern Sierras.
Inside the cabin, you'll find it thoughtfully designed and furnished. It's carefully appointed for comfort and convenience. Plugin or unplug – the choice is yours. Enjoy the fully stocked kitchen with locally roasted ground coffee, back deck with binoculars and rocking chairs, curated reading library, outdoor essentials: backpack, life jackets, sand toys, beach chairs, blankets & towels.

Hiking trails, Fly fishing, Kayaking, Mountain Biking, Paddleboarding, Rafting, Rock climbing, Giant Sequoias, Isabella Lake, Kern Audubon Preserve, Spring Wildflower Blooms, Salmon Creek Falls – even a single chair lift ski resort less than a half-hour away - and so much more, await you all within a short distance. The area is home to an incredibly diverse natural environment with endless possibilities to explore. Have a quiet stay in Riverkern where you can walk to the General Store for basics, or drive a few minutes to Kernville to shop & get some dinner. Whether your visit calls for adventure or the quietude of a peaceful sanctuary, you'll find a very special place at River Willow Cabin.

Riverkern is a small, quaint residential neighborhood just a few miles upstream from downtown Kernville. Our cabin has cabins next door on both sides. It's a quiet neighborhood with paved, well-maintained streets, no need for any specialty vehicle. The speed limit is 25 MPH on the main street with no sidewalks, so street bicycling isn't recommended.
Riverkern itself has a General Store within short walking distance from the cabin. You can grab coffee & breakfast or sandwiches for lunch! The General Store is closed from Thanksgiving (November) to President's Day Weekend (February).
Because it's a small and quiet community, it's very important to respect others' property and our neighbors. Please be aware of private property and of keeping the noise down at night. We've never had a neighbor complaint - yay!
We're in a very high fire hazard area, so outdoor fires or smoking are never permitted. Use of the propane BBQ on the front deck is permitted at all times of the year.
To get to restaurants, shopping and other local activities requires a short drive - 3 miles. The well-maintained, paved mountain road to town doesn't have a sidewalk or much of a shoulder for walking or bicycling - be aware!
PETS: Well-behaved and house-trained dogs are permitted with pre-approval, so please tell us about your pup (breed, size, etc). Please note that there is a $60 pet fee per stay. The fee is for up to 2 dogs maximum. No other animals are allowed without prior approval.
The mighty Kern River runs at the back of the property, and you can access it by walking down a sandy path from the back deck off the cabin. During spring runoff only, a small stream sometimes flows through the property (weather dependent, please inquire.)
For guests traveling with small children - there's a Graco Pack n Play with a fitted sheet, high chair, and bathroom sink faucet hose (for bathtub) for your use in the cabin. Outside we have sand toys & a variety of life jackets.
POLICIES:
1. Guest max for nightly rate is 5. Extra guest is $50 per night per guest up to 1 extra guest max.
2. Guest MUST review and accept the Rental Agreement and Contact Form that'll be emailed after booking.
3. No fireworks/outdoor fires are allowed (propane BBQ and indoor fireplace are OK)
4. No events, parties, photoshoots without prior Owner approval. We have a Nest camera pointed at the street entry to ensure only registered Guests are on the property.
5. Two well-behaved and house trained dogs will be considered for pre-approval. Please tell us about your pet. $60 pet fee per stay will apply.

2. What is the # of adults and # of children of any age in your group?
3. Are you bringing a pet (Yes or No)? If yes - please let us know breed, age, weight for pre-approval.
:) Thanks!

The cabin is a great stay with all the features you’d hope for. The pictures don’t do it justice. But the location is a hidden gem for those interested in fishing. The “Bubbles Beach” location, about a 7 minute easy trail walk away is a perfect “honey hole” for trout. Easy and sandy beach access makes it convenient to reel in and land your fish but its location at the mouth of two converging rivers make it a perfect spot for trout to hang out and wait for food. We stayed there most of the time and didn’t even need to venture out looking for other spots along the river. Very private and peaceful location. Would love to return.

The property was perfect for my husband and I and our 2 big dogs. Lots of room for the dogs to roam around and explore a little. The house is fully supplied with all sorts of amenities. All you need to bring is your food and sunblock. Will definitely rebook this site again. Loved it!!

Thank you! What a marvelous retreat spot you have here. We have had the most perfect, relaxing, delightful stay and love everything about this place. It was the perfect choice for us. We love your style and taste. The art! All the carefully thought-through details, including the fenced-in front yard and deck, outdoor shower, and both beaches.
Kind regards and huge thanks,

There are not enough great things to say about our trip to The River House! The location is spectacular. The house itself has everything you could possibly think of needing on vacation. It is close to town. The hosts were wonderful and gave us so many recommendations for hikes, adventures, and eating. If I had any questions they were quick to respond. I only wish we had more time there. Definitely wanting to take a trip back!!!! Thanks so much :) I wish I could give 10 stars.

Great House, lovely yard, sound of rushing river from the back deck was so soothing. We spend most of our time outdoors enjoying the amenities offered at this location. Carol & Rod were very responsive & wonderful hosts. They have thought of everything you might need in kitchen & bathrooms. Even had a book light in one of the bedroom nightstands! This was the exact kind of getaway my Husband and I needed. Can't wait to book again!

We had a lovely stay at the river willow house. All lovely and cozy design throughout. We remarked on how it smelled good as we walked in the first time. Our kids had a great time “camping out” in the quaint loft space, and exploring the expansive river front property. Looking forward to future visits. The property owner was kind enough to offer to send a personal item accidentally left behind. Great experience all around.

I drew a deer hunt in the area last December. Cabin worked out great as a base for a few days. Our group didn’t spend much time except for sleeping but overall the place was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. If I had any suggestions for the owners it would be to maybe have a couple brighter lighting options in the living/ dining room and suggestions for potential renters - the furnace works really well and if your sleeping in the loft it gets pretty warm.

The place was beautifully decorated, with some added touches for the holidays since we were there right before Christmas. The kids loved hanging out in the loft area. Communication was fantastic with Carol, who checked in with us right away, and was always available via text. The place was quite cozy with great access to the river. I look forward to visiting again in the summer.

The Willow cabin which is owned by Rod and Carol will forever be one of my best vacations ever. I took my Mom who's 83 yrs old and my dad who turned 80 while we were there the trip was his birthday present. We have been going to the Kern River since 1975 and stayed at various hotels even camped out and motor home stayed a few times. My dad has stage 4 Alzheimers it's gotten pretty bad there are days he doesn't know who I am. The Willow cabin is like no other place I've stayed from the moment you open the 8 ft gates that surround the property it has a very differnt feel to it almost magical. I watched my parents on the back porch with the the lites everywhere holding hands and just enjoying the moment there was no pain or frustration in their lives for the three days we stayed and I have Rod and Carol to thank for that for having done so many wonderful things to the Willow cabin from the hammock to the gardens to the custom lighting and that special balcony it made for some unforgettable memories also didn't hurt that we caught our limit of trout all three days and if even for a short time I had my dad back thank you guys from the bottom of my heart. The creature comfort of A/C and cable TV wifi and all new stainless steal appliances made it such a easy place to feal at home and relaxed. Rod and Carol even though that last drive through town today and lunch in the park will probably be the last time I have my folks up there bitter sadness I do have two sons of my own 29 and 26 I will no doubt be calling you soon to set up another family vacation thanks for the memories and your hospitality I already put a video up on Facebook of the Willow Cabin and have had numerous inquerys talk to you guys soon thanks again Jeff Clerisse my parents names David and Cindy Springer.
