Nice clean friendly staff ideal for travelling from Paddington station 3 min walk

It was a last minute booking. It was fine.
Breakfast was good and a sensible price.
Hotel is a little tired but adequate and friendly.
I'll consider it in future.

Reception staff where very friendly, we arrived at our room after walking 3 flights of stairs (NO LIFT).
The room was tired and very much in need of a revamp flooring all smashed up, holes.
The bed was probably the most uncomfortable bed ive ever experienced,
The bath room was basically a cupboard with a shower and toilet in it very very small no where to put your toiletries ect.
We went out that evening and unfortunately i lost the room card key - we arrived back about 11.45pm to find the night watchman not having a clue how to get another card, he had to call another person and oh of course theres a £2 charge 🙂 (most hotels will give you one free.)
The breakfast in the morning (continental)
Was the saddest offer ive ever seen. The lady running the dining room was very plesent , the young lady cooking the waffles was the most miserable person ever.
The best part of this trip was the hotel offered free (cant believe it was free) they look after your bags when you check out and you can collect later in the day.
Location of hotle is fabulously close to Paddington.
Would i stay here a again - no

The Shakespeare was ideal for my one night stay in London, being conveniently close to Paddington Station. The staff were helpful and the room was clean with comfortable bed and good shower.

Great location!

Great location and room, although small was clean and tidy.
Hotel is a little dated and there only appears to be a small staircase but not a problem for me. I would stay here again.

The room was very clean & tidy although very small. The bathroom had a 'damp' smell that was quite overpowering if the door was left open.
We had a room on the third flood which meant 62 steps to our floor.
Reasonably priced for our 1 night stay and excellently placed for the train station.

Positive: Very friendly employees, great location, good Belgium waffles.
Negative: Limited selection for breakfast, no fresh fruit or vegetables, mostly cookies (dry) and toast. Coffee only from machine with poor taste. The breakfast is important for the experience! It was expensive too. Rooms a bit worn, toilet seat did not fit the toilet (too small)

Staff was friendly but a “deluxe twin” was literally like a closet with a tiny bathroom attached. We tried to stay out of the room as much as possible because it was so tiny. Breakfast wasn’t bad though

Put the "do not disturb" sign at the door when we went out because I didn't want the cleaners to rearrange my bed (they are a bit to hard). Came back and the cleaners had rearrange my bed and moved my knickers. Why enter when sign and why touch my undergarments? Also things vibrate cuz the trains so not for easily disturbed sleepers.

I could hear the trains running underneath the floor of my room even though I was on the 2nd floor. Tiny room overlooking a park with homeless people sleeping all night

Good location just 1min away from. Paddington station.
We were 2 adults and 5 kids (reserved one room 5 beds). Overall hotel is clean and good breakfast (for cooked English breakfast has to pay extra ÂŁ6 per person). Tbh room was a bit small for 5 people but well, when in London you only use room for shower and sleep so did not really mind.
Helpful 24hr reception.
Overall good value for money.

No a/c in the rooms, noisy and rooms vibrate from the underground trains

Quaint little hotel near train and tube station. Very walkable. Good restaurants nearby. Nice breakfast. Clean. In nice neighborhood. Kept our luggage safe for several hours after our check-out. Would stay here again.

Needs some serious renovation. The mattress was not comfortable. The bathroom difficult to maneuver. Serves its purpose for 1 nite.

We have stayed in 14 different places throughout England and Scotland. Where do I begin.... This place is by far the worst! Checkin we were basically ignored and the reception guy had an attitude of he couldn't be bothered. He was uninviting and no communication. We had to drag our bags 2 flights up. There were two of us and the room was a cracker box. Only 1 hard pillow per bed so my Sister went to ask for another pillow and the reception guy gave her a hard time. The bathroom would be virtually impossible for any bigger person to fit. The shower was falling apart. There is a sign next to the sink saying unpottable water, so dont brush your teeth in the sink :((( the noise of the hotel with bangs and loud noises went on all night until morning. And then outside early morning were loud work trucks with constant beeping and banging things the whole morning. We are incredibly disappointed to say the least that this is how we spent our last night in the UK....just awful!

Great location. Very clean. Amazing number of electrical outlets. Small rooms but no shortage of facilities - desk, cupboard, fridge, kettle, etc. Some noise from outside. Only problem for me were the stairs. No lifts. I was booked in on 4th floor. Not appropriate for older travelers unless they have very strong knees!

This is a budget hotel in Paddington. It is very conveniently located close to the Paddington Underground in a nice neighbourhood. However it does not have air conditioning or a lift - and the stairs are steep and narrow. Great if you’re young and fit, challenging for older folk toting big bags.
2.0 / 5.0
Good location however hotel is more like a hostel! No lifts and very steep stairs with no one to help with bags. The building also shakes regularly from 6am to 12:30am with subway noise! It badly needs refurbishment too.

Liked: 1) it's location to main Train station hub. 2) it's old style Victorian building charm 3) price was very economical
Disliked: 1) the in room super small WC..the sink was nearly over the toilet, to wipe and pull up your pants you had to either come out into the room..or squeeze past the sink and use the shower area 2) the pay phone and public WC on the staircase were both out of order [for awile from the dust on the sign on both ] 3) for this warmer weather a bigger electric fan[than the small one provided] would do a better job in cooling the room

The only thing bad was (as a woman of 72) there's no lifts and i had to climb 75 stairs even my son in law was out of breath after climbing all those stairs but everything else was good.

Ok hotel we just need a place too sleep.

Warning to others— you do not want to stay here. There is no lift the first floor is zero so expect 3-4 flights of stairs. No air conditioning but a fan is provided, the weather was quite chilly but our room was hot throughout the night with the window open. Twin bed was not only tiny but old and lumpy from use, extremely uncomfortable. Room smelled horrendous from sewer fumes.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful; the room was dated and needed upgrading but the bed was comfortable.

Nice location. Rooms are tiny of course not grwat if you have lots of luggage. Staff are friendly except for the odd few. Breakfast waa great. I recommend purchasing with your room. Do not stay if you cant do stairs.

The room was very small without airconditioning but very clean. They came in and cleaned it upon request. The front desk arranged an early morning Uber for us to Heathrow. A very positive experience.
5.0 / 5.0
Very friendly stuff at the reception and in the breakfast room. Very conveniently located near the Paddington Station - easy to get to Heathrow via express train. Walking distance to many attractions.
2.0 / 5.0
The hotel was in a lovely area . Very walkable and close to Paddington Station. Many restaurant choices and not far from Hyde Park. The hotel itself is a different story . Staff was welcoming and pleasant upon arrival. Our room was on the 3rd floor which involved walking up 4 flights of stairs. Very small room which was fine but there was no air conditioning. They did supply a small fan but windows did not open , so no chance of circulating any air. We were there on one of the hottest days of the year . Our bathroom was about a 6 to 7 inch step up from the bed and extremely small . We honestly took cold showers and left room immediately after dressing to avoid perspiring. Also non potable water in room , so we lugged water up each night .

One of the worst hotels I ever stayed in my international experience.
Convenience factor is the only advantage. Receptionists during both the check in (Russian sounding man) and check out (Asian lady) times were unprofessional.
The entrance (ground floor) stinks so badly. The room reeks of old carpet or wood smell which hits you in the face. Don’t even get me started about the bathroom.
3.0 / 5.0
The location of the hotel is excellent. Close to Paddington Station and underground. The staff at the reception desk are friendly and eager to help. The rooms are tiny but clean. There is no air-condition in summer and the bathroom did not smell nice. You can hear and feel the underground underneath. The staircases are steep and there is no lift. In some of the rooms the tap water was not drinkable. (According to the signs on the wall.)
4.0 / 5.0
Very convenient for transport links. Room small but adequate for single traveller for a 1-2 night stay so a good base for a short trip to London.
5.0 / 5.0
We really like the location. SO close to Paddington station. Great food options close by.
***It was NOT good that the water in the rooms was marked NON POTABLE with a metal sign. Not temporary but the norm. I have stayed at other hotels on the row and that's not the case. It was inconvenient to have to use bottled water for brushing teeth.
1.5 / 5.0
We recently stayed at this hotel and, unfortunately, the experience was less than ideal. The hotel does not have an elevator, which made carrying luggage up the stairs quite challenging. The rooms are not equipped with air conditioning, and the windows are blocked, preventing any fresh air from coming in. While a fan was provided, it barely worked, offering little relief from the heat. The bathroom was extremely small, with a sink that was very inconvenient to use. Additionally, the soundproofing is poor, and there were strong vibrations from the nearby metro that could be felt in the room.
On the positive side, the hotel is conveniently located near the metro and train station, with plenty of dining options in the area.

You got what you paid for; inexpensive but don’t expect too much. There’s no elevator, expect to climb the stairs with the luggage.

Friendly staff. Exactly as advertised. Single room small but everything you need. Small refrigerator was very helpful.
1.0 / 5.0
I had the most horrible experience. The room expected was suppose to be three beds but we got two. Also the room was so cramped. No air conditioning the room was so hot and stuffy tried to open window but could barely open. Fan provided didn’t move and wasn’t powerful. We could also feel the underground trains every time they went. The staff were unhelpful and didn’t care at all. The room was old. We also spotted blood mark on the wall. We tried one night hoping cool off but it didn’t it was cool outside so a window nice breeze would have been fine but nope. I would have preferred sleeping outside. We had to change hotels and they didn’t refund or anything to compensate. We asked for another fan and they didn’t have any. It was horrible don’t go there. To top it off we knew this though so on us no lift.
